  1. We learn a lot f things about Portugal. I know that the country used to be called "Portuguy" but changed its name in 1976 after a military coup caused equal rights for women. I also learned that "Lesbians" were so named because they came from Lesban, the capitol of Portugal, and "Lesbians" are what the women from Lesban are called. Candide (by Voltaire) reflects a great earthquake that happened there, interspersed with tales of syphilis. I also know that Lesban's main airport is called Farto Airport - so named from the smell of the sulphur springs that run by it lending the persistent smell of flatulence in the area. I once did a paper about the origins of the city of Porto - it was so named when the Spanish occupied the area to set up a strategic strongpoint on the coast in about 850 A.D. "Porto" means "to carry." The city was originally called "Porto los Asnos Estupido," which translates into "I Carry the Sorry Asses" after the Leonese found them to be worthless as slaves, though great warriors when given wine, hence the start of the wine industry from up the river from Porto. All of this was stuff I learned in school - there was even an Iberian Studies major at my college, but I was only interested in it because this gal Karine was super hot! edited to add: I almost forgot! The Portuguese Man O' War is one bad ass jellyfish. Sorry, I was mistaken... you are not arrogant also. You are a simply and plain stupid asshole. And to practise your "iberian studies", translate this: E já que percebes português, digo-te uma coisa: só não és meu filho, porque a tua mãe não tinha troco naquela noite.
  2. You're right. Dumb is not the name for you. Maybe arrogant it's better.
  3. It´s always better ask before assuming something bad about other people's motivations (it´s called prejudice). I have participated in campaigns to protect ALL kind of animals. as a scuba diver, the last animal I have save from a fishing net was not cute (he even bite me...). And I do the same for humans also, who are much more dumber then dolphins (at least in this forum...).
  4. LOL. How do u spel sarkasim in Portugeese? SARCASMO. And it is PORTUGUESE, not PORTUGEESE
  5. You should go to school. You don´t know how to write your own language You don´t know where is Portugal? Portugal is an independent country since 1143. By the way, who was in charge of your country then?.... And Portugal is located in Europe. You know where and what is Europe, right? Am asking these because lots of you don´t know squat about world geography...
  6. After reading your comments, I can understand how and why a country elected a asshole 2 times in a role, and why it is probably the most hated country in the world. The inteligent people around there are very few unfortunately...
  7. Dear Friends, Please see this (it´s VERY hard to see!) http://www.glumbert.com/media/dolphin and, after if you feel like doing something to stop those images go here and sign. After, spread the word: http://www.PetitionOnline.com/golfinho/petition.html The dolphins can't talk like us (and they live in the sea not in the air...), but I´m sure they will thank you, in their language. Regards Pedro Taborda
  8. Hi, I also practise paragliding and I found out one helmet that is made by a neurosurgeon and that protects, among other parts of the head, the cervical area, by diverting the shock from that area. It´s the BIOS (http://www.bios-pro.com). Do you have knowledge of any kind of device that can protect the neck in a hard opening by diverting the forces from the neck area? Pedro
  9. Yes, that's what I am going to do. A friend of mine in the Air Force is trying to arrrange a way for me to see a air force doctor (those who deal with paratroopers and jet fighter's pilots). Because the damage is in the cervical area, I don´t want to do anything foolish. Pedro

  17. Faial, Azores. My grandfathers name was Alberto Vieira. My name is Leahy. My mom married an Irishman I've been in Azores last April. I was scuba diving at Graciosa island. What a knockout diving! As for the irish, we have a lot in common with Ireland in spite of the distance. Everytime Ireland play against Portugal it's a party in spite of who wins or who looses.
  18. From which part of Portugal? Unfortunatelly, the Iaido website is not yet translated (I must have the time to do it...) but the kendo website is in english too.
  19. [Cool. Which one? I practive Kendo and Iaido (Eishin Ryu, and Meishin Muso Ryu) Seitei Iai and the lineage is the Musoshinden ryu. I am a 1st Dan. Go to www.iaido.pt and www.kendo.pt.
  20. Hi! My name is Pedro and I'm from Portugal. I am 46 years old and all my life I've practice action sports like Taekwondo, surf, wakeboarding, snowboarding, etc. At the moment, I practice Kendo, Iaido and scuba diving. A year ago I felt some itching on my left arm and I took a TAC and a electromiogram. In the report of the TAC, I can read that in C4-C5 there are some bilateral foraminal estenosis with disk protusion. In C5-C6 the disk is collapsed with gas degeneration of the pulpous nucleus, with extrinsic compression of the medula. Some degeneration on C6-C7. I never had any pain. After 6 months of treatment with a good osteopatic practitioner, all the symptoms had disapear. A month ago, on the 1st aniversary of my wedding, I've jumped tandem with my wife with a great friend of mine that is an instructor... and I was hooked. So I decided to do the AFF course with him. However, when I have showed a TAC of my cervical column to a doctor, he said NO WAY! I've read here lots of posts of people with vetebrae fusions and so on and they keep doing it, so I really dont know what to do, mainly because it is hard to find a doctor that knows what is involved in parachuting. Can you help me? I was so happy when I found THAT feeling and now this sentence... If there is someone that can read portuguese I can send my medical reports. Thanks ! Pedro
  21. Hello, I just post in these forums for the first time and the subject is almost the same (if i can go the the introducing threads you'll see mine). My problem is not a ruptured disk, but a collapsed disk between C5 and C6. I felt itching on my left arm, but after 5/6 months with a good osteopat I don´t feel it no more. What is your opinion? Pedro
