  1. Awesome video Matt! One thing I noticed most about this vid is that it really seems to capture the movement of the flocks. All to often it seems that we're static.... love it man!
  2. Allright...time for some math...maybe we should get Yuri in on this... If we apply the standard DZ.com "I'm coming to this event thread" equations: x = number of jumpers who sign up y= the weather forcast z = the number of beers drank the night before n = the number of "i'm broke...but I still might come!!" coments a = the number of "i'll come if I can get a ride" comments m= the number of monkycndo boogies whores T = total number of attendees So we see.... (((x-n)/y)/z)-a+m = T To save you the effort, T=2
  3. I hope that this will be my last post on this subject. In no way should this be taken as an arguement to any one post. Think of it as my "free thinking" for the day. - And believe me I try to think as little as possible
  4. ha, he said coach! coach not = instructor, hence you don't need an instructor rating.. how many FF, RW, tunnel 'coaches" have a coach rating? I'm sure a fair number.. but not all Stiring the pot?? Hahaha. Not to sure what youre getting at. Isnt this whole thread about no uspa ratings and the BMI/PFI validity?? I allready said it wasn't necessary... See 2 posts up
  5. Perhaps you need to remember what kind of DZ zhills is. On any one day, I would say that a good 75-80% of the jumpers there are on vacation. IE.... not locals. I think its one thing to willingly teach your local jumpers and friends for free. I think its a wonderful gesture, to build your local WS scene. I'd imagine, however, that you would go very poor very quickly if time and slots were given freely to everyone who passes through the Birdhouse at Zhills. I have also seen more than one suit come back damaged without so much as a "I'm sorry". Kinda hard to hold someone accountable when they are liable to disappear the next day and never come back to your DZ. Who do you think gets stuck paying for the maintenance of 40+ suits. (And don't say tony fixes them...well not all of them anyway...just his) I think you also took his wording a bit out of context (probably in a self righteous manner to boot) Of course $ does not = Quality, but is there anyone on this forum that argues Zhills is not a wonderful QUALITY place to get coaching? Anyone here who argues Chuck and Jeff are not among the what?...top 10-20 wing suit coaches/instructors? If you don't think either of these statements are true, no one is making you go there. I get the feeling from this whole thread (off topic or not)...that you probably don't want to pay money to get a WS rating (whether its respected or not). I think you have your answer on the legality of it. Don't want to pay $300 (or whatever the amount is)?...Don't. There are many here who will support you, and many who will damn you. For good or ill, I believe the "instructor" rating was started with good intentions...and I don't think anyone can fault the manufacturers for promoting safety of their products, nor can you fault people who sought to improve themselves (lets leave the "bar rating out of this statement"...the dead horse has been beaten). Do you need it to instruct?...No Is it a good idea?...I think so Is there anything wrong with trying to make a student safer?...you can answer this one Is paying an extra $20 bucks a big deal if it makes the student feel safer?...Only the student can answer that On a final note - do I care one way or another about a rating that is sanctified by the USPA? No, not really. I just hope that all who choose to instruct (rating or not) are at least mature enough to seriously evaluate themselves and their skills and their knowledge before ever teaching a student.
  6. Boogie Whore = monkeycndo Media Whore = Brothers Gray
  7. Did we also forget that I jump at cross keys??? Come on guys!! Also look up walt. There is a phantom floating around xkeys, and hopefully I can convince tony to send a couple suits up there.
  8. There was an S8 at F&D this year.... It was an awesome suit for those who it fit! Flys very fast. You can see it in my F&D vid (shameless plug). The white and orange suit
  9. In the end I don't really care at all.... Was it funny...eh.... not by internet standards...pretty lame actually... Was it cruel?... come on... its a cat... but I don't think that this forum is the place to discuss animal rights That being said...how many time have you laughed at the terrified tandem in the door???? (yeah yeah, they had a choice in the matter...i can hear it now) Student - No! No! No! TM - Go? but I digress.... it's a cat come on
  10. upload is at 92% as I type this.... had to go to a company dinner...
  11. Video is done.... Will be up by tonight! Crappy upload speeds here at work! Hope you like it! Look for it on Skydiving movies under...well probably wingsuiting... As always, it will be an ".avi" file. What this means is you must have either a divx codec installed on your comp (its free...www.divix.com)... or if your a Mac user, something like VLC (which is free and AWESOME) Lots of pre F&D jumps, more incentive to get in early next year Will update with proper link...look around 9-10ish
  12. Sweet!!! You know what we should totally do??? We should make a list of everyone who's going to come!! Nevermind if we actually come or not...but atleast the thread will be like 10 pages long!!
  13. No more excuses for not doing night jumps!!!
  14. Allright guys.... video time. All my importing has been done. Now unlike PR, when I had a clear idea of music I wanted to use, I am throughly stumped on this one. Please PM me with music you might want to hear in my F&D vid...
  15. Ditto.... But lets not also forget the Zhills staff for putting up with us, and Mr. Chuck Blue Esquire III for his team room and providing many a suit for people to try, as well as organizing the many fun jumps that all the cool kids missed
  16. damn it post the pic so I can see the punchline all ready!!!! Stupid work making me miss this...

    ATMONAUTI

I'm sorry, I really would like to believe these numbers you post about sub-90's sustained free fall. I really would. Post the video, and let us do some math, and I will gladly eat my words. There is no sarcasm here, I really will. But by that logic, should I, as a wingsuiter, make my AoA steeper and thus fly for 25 minutes?? In no way am I bashing Atmo here either. I've done it and it is quite fun! But lets not act like we're re-inventing the wheel here. I can do the exact same formations and docks in a tracking dive as I can in Atmo... 3d formations are not impossible in the slightest... Allow me to coin a term (maybe I should make a wiki article about it)...Burble Management... Put the lower persons head around my chest and WALLA! No Burble!! Now due to the steeper angle of flight, burbles are less present, thus easier to deal with, but they are still there...and still dangerous to those who are un-aware of them. But I digress... If you are trying to make Atmo more accessible to people who are bound by rules (ie. SA), why not just call this a tracking dive? By calling it a new discipline that must be sanctioned, aren't you just adding to the bureaucracy? Steep track, nuff said :) ps...while you're posting the sub 90's vid...post the feet first flying. I really would like to see that as it sounds very cool
  18. I would ask yourself why you wouldn't order a full normal suit in the first place? I can hardly think of an instance where I would prefer the pants with a t-shirt over a traditional FF suit? T-shirts have a nasty habit of coming untucked and bunching up around your handles. It may have never happened to your or may never seem like an issue now, but what have you gained? Since I see you all ready ordered just the pants, I would say go ahead and order the jacket as I'm sure its alot more "safe" compared to the alternatives. Get one suit and learn to fly your body in it. You will learn to fly in all orientations regardless of what your wearing. Don't try to mix and match. You'll be a better flyer later because of it!
  19. I got one of the parasport ones.... I am soooo happy with it. Very nice quality, with the weight included for a good price (85.00 from ParaGear). Much nicer than a the gear store bought one I had before.... Lead Bellys are also nice, either one you'll be happy! PS....baaaaaddddd JuJu to whoever "borrowed" my original weight belt and never returned it...
