  1. Jeff, Chuck Blue, Scott Bland, and I Come on Justin...where did you go to school??
  2. The week before summerfest? Seems a bit silly don't ya think? Especially when I think of what people have requested and want in the WFFC that Summerfest all ready provides: Cheap registration- Check DC9 (last year atleast) - Check Helicopter - check - what fun that was last year!!! casa - check 2 otters and a kingair - check...well ok sorta check b/c its not Mullins Good nightlife - check Fair ticket prices - check All this plus the fireworks, the good food, good organizing, and welcoming facilities. I would wonder what the WFFC would offer me that Summerfest does not all ready do??? Personally...I would save my money for Summerfest. This does not mean that I wouldn't love to see the WFFC come back, just do it at another time. Don't make me decide on one or the other.
  3. Ed, I met you when you came down to zhills with sub 100 jumps. I was happy to see your patience when we told you to wait and get more jumps. Loved to see your enthusiasm! I was happy that you got to do what you are so obviously passionate about...the very thing that got you into skydiving. My only hope in all of this, to you, to Virgin Burner, and anyone else who pursues this discipline early in their skydiving carrier is this.... Take time to learn belly flying, take time to learn free flying....take time! Even if you aren't passionate about them, they WILL teach you skills that will make you a better wing suit pilot. You will learn about sharing airspace and larger formations. You will feel burbles, you will feel what it is like when someone slams into you...you will learn to be more cautious! You will experience canopy flight and might even get a mal or 2 which will better prepare you for when it goes pear shaped with a ws. You will learn how to fly your body in sometimes unusual positions. You will learn to FLY your body...long before you ever put on a WS again. You will learn how to approach a formation, how to leave one, and how to get back UP to one...all SAFELY! You will learn how far you cannopy can fly...so you will not fly yourself off the dz (unless your with purple mike). You will improve your canopy skills so you don't biff in on your $1000 suit (unless your purple mike )! The list can go on and on... You got out there and flew a ws...good for you! Now you know what you are working for. Please, please, please sit back now and do yourself a favor. There is much to be learned from the rest of the sport....don't exclude yourself from it! You'll have fun, this I guarantee you! Maybe you might even convince some other non-wing suiters to come give it a chance! Just make sure they have over 200 jumps Oh yeah and ed....don't forget to FLARE!!!
  4. Thanks for the reminder....done
  5. I believe both Perris and deland will be flying them. There is also a dropzone in pennsylvania that flys a porter.
  6. Yes xanadu is under construction. Drive up to the meadowlands and see for yourself. The tunnel part of it?...thats anyones guess... However, you are correct about the funding issue. Everywhere I have looked seems to issue conflicting information on the subject. I have read that it was planned....lost funding....got funding and was started.... I have read that it was planned, started, and then lost funding and is now stalled... I have also read that it was planned started...lost funding...got new funding and is back under-way.... I do agree with the philly tunnel nay-sayers though. "Flip this tunnel" perhaps?
  7. lol....well purple mike has since been banned from ever leading a flock again!
  8. Now that you mention it, yes it is... I hadn't noticed before because I had a hard time looking past the watermark. there was a nine way???
  9. Its all right Monkey...we all fly that suit once and a while....
  10. Just to tie this in with a thread in the wingsuit forum, we are trying to arrange some car pools if anyone is interested. Right now, a popular time for people getting in is 11am on the 12th. If anyone would like, pm me with your day and time of arrival, and we'll start working out some groups!
  11. Look at the title "hoemade." ahhhhhhhh.... well see there you go! Clever....
  12. After that illustration, all I can think of is those water park water slides... Would still like to see Loic do this instead...
  13. Nice find... Lots of landing a wingsuit talk now-a-days!
  14. Holy crap matt!!! That video deffinetly took me from a "how hard can it be?" frame of mind to "I have a whole new respect for the work that goes into those helmets!!" Really really informative. Great idea to film this! Good job as always! Doesn't really look like a project the ole women of the house would be to happy about
  15. Many tunnels are listed as under construction, very few actually are. The closest ones to you that are (for the most part) under construction are near NYC in the Xanadu complex - but even that is a lonnnnnnggggg way from existing.
  16. Is there some great joke to this thread that I'm missing? To borrow from a previous thread/joke...this thread is EG
  17. PM sent to you chris, but to get the question out there to people who might know: Is there any kind of shuttle service that we could use? If a few of us who won't be renting cars can group up and split the cost?
  18. Jarno, Wonderful, well thought out and eloquent response. A post that should be put under a Stickey titled "So you think x-number of jumps is enough..."
  19. dayum...how'd that go?? Were you jumping it b/c of DSE or just for kicks?
  20. Find a different vendor. Most RW jumpsuits where around 200 when I bought my first new one about 6 months ago. Thats actually pretty reasonable for a good quality comp suit now-a-days is it not? Not even thinking about what the exchange rate would make a suit from Europe...
  21. Let me just put it this way... I sat out the majority of FnD 3.0 because there were certain wingsuit pilots there who I have absolutely NO faith in their abilities to fly safely (learned the hard way, I assure you). I also sat out a few loads at Summerfest 2007 and FnD 3.5 because of those same individuals. I will also sit out any big way attempt if those individuals show up. Unless I have someone who I respect vouch for them and their improvements in flying ability. Do I approve of this "elitist" mentality...ABSOLUTELY
  22. Yes, both events, whatever you choose will be an advancement to the disipline. Anytihng that brings more structure other than, "lets get out and fly around!" in my mind is a good thing. I think its about time we started laying out rules, guidelines, and things to shoot for! Jarno's comp as well...this is an exciting time. I know its completely changed what we do and how we fly down here at zhills
  23. I'm surprised you admit to it. You know I make that exit look good! I'd ask jeff to put the rest of the pics up, but I'm affraid you'd all say his image capture device is unreliable
