Mac has built a product loyality that just blows me away. But you know what? THEY DESERVE IT!!! In a way, I always knew that I wanted a mac. I really did, but I was hampered by my work using PC specific programs. Yes I knew that there was VirtualPC and the like, but it still was not native, and thus I did not even want to touch it. Thus, I could not wait until the Intel based macs came out!!! I bought my MacBook and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! I would recomend however adding more memory to whatever mac you get, but that goes for any computer out there! Also to all you Intel mac'ers out there. A great program that free's you from even needing a copy of windows, but still allows you to run windows programs is CrossOver http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxmac/

A .308 with an 8 in. barrel? That doesn't even sound like a good idea! Nothing but a smile on my face everytime I shoot it! Absolutely no practicality, but fun as hell!

I have a vector arms V51 rifle. Which is a american built clone of the HK G3 .308 battle rifle with a 8 inch barrel...that makes people leave the range

Evolution - Satan's biggest brilliant and magnificent plan !!
peggs82 replied to skysaintj's topic in Speakers Corner
I've spared myself reading the 13 pages of posts to simply state my view if for nothing else than for myself. For years I found myself on a spiritual downslide. Began with being heavily religious attending church many times a week, then less, then changing my opinions on god and my relationship with him. It was about a year ago when I finally drew my spiritual line in the sand. I felt that I could not rationally believe what I believe in science, but also call myself religious. What made me draw the line was this debate. The fanaticisim with which christians choose to persue this debate was just too much. To ignore cold tangible facts, only to claim a book written by man is the absolute truth was lunacy to me. How can one see the bones of homo erectus, neanderthal, and homo sapians and claim that there is no possiblity. Look at the bones of dinosaurs millions of years old and claim the earth is 10,000 years or less.... To want to pull evolution out of the class room and teach creationism...Give me a break! I won't have sceience and education taken out of our classrooms for this neo-conserviative bable. Keep god in church, and out of schools. Yeah yeah...I can hear the come back now..."if god was in schools...we wouldn't have had columbine!" - tell that to the girl that said she believed in god right before she was shot. The FSM (flying sphetti monstor) never gets old to me -
Do we have to give free photos and videos???

While I don't fly camera yet (I plan to one day), I do have an opinion.... Is this a hobby or a profession for you? When I used to shoot stills and video for skiing and boarding, I viewed it as a hobby. I love to do it, so I enjoyed sharing it with whoever wanted it. What was your motivation to start flying camera? To make money or to gather and record memories? Besides in the digital world how hard is it to connect one cable at the end of the day (when you would be doing the same anyway for yourself)? -

Aircraft emergency exit - do you pay your ticket?
peggs82 replied to jerry81's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The long and short of it for me is this... At my home DZ, they would give me a refund even if I did not ask for it. I personally would not ask for it/nor take it. My DZO bends over backwards for us, as do our pilots. If they said "get out," I would without hesitation, and be happy all came out (hopefully) ok. Lets face it...it's $20. -

Getting back in town Sat...just in time for the Helicopter! -
I took a break from south park after the cartoon wars episode, suddenly neither south park nor family guy was as funny after that. But recently, at the DZ i've been catching up on them and god damn..i mean science damn they've been funny.... "The hot blonde is having sex with a student?"..."Yeah"...."Nice" "Who is this kid, so I can give him the luckiest kid in america medal" I did love the episode with ManBearPig too. The scene when cartman shits out fake treasure had me laughing so hard

Ditto :( It's really handy for me when I travel every week, sure could use it again

Oh yes, agreed. The .308 rifle is just a fun rifle. They make them because they can, not intended for practical use. A .308 coming out of a barrel that short has GREATLY reduced velocity and penetration. And yes, I realize the unburned powder is why it is a flame thrower...thats why I like it

It is most absolutely a HK G36. As josheezammit added, it is the "C" model. Interestingly enough, a departure in HK's normal termanology of "K" for their compact weapons As it has been mentioned, it is not a UMP. The G36 and the UMP are both from HK's new generation of weapons utilizing plastic for the recievers. The G36 has suffered a bit in the American market from rummors of the recievers melting after sustained fire. These rumors can also be associated with the death of the XM8 rifle, which was being tested as the replacement for the M16. Recently HK stopped selling the G36 in America. Some blame it on these melting rumors, weak sales, and lastly on HK's 416 platform. Basically a piston driven version of the M16 which is direct gas blowback opperation (dirty). The UMP was marketed as the replacement for the venerable MP5. To match the rising availiblity of body armor to everyday criminals, law enforcement officials wanted something with a little more stopping power than the 9mm. The UMP is available in 9mm, .40, and .45, and can be easily converted between the calibers by simply changing the barrel. Short barrels will effect accuracy yes, but the idea is increased penetration to defeat body armor vs. the traditional 9mm cartridge. Hell I have a .308 caliber weapon with a 8in barrel. It is a flame thrower! Want one for yourself in the USA, you can buy a USC, or an SL8. Which are the civilian equivilants of the UMP and G36 respectively. They will cost you roughly 2,000-4,000 I have them both My collection

So whats the idea here? A steerable cargo delivery system? What was wrong with rounds? -
Well I'm gonna do it! This Sunday, I'm packing up the car and heading to florida for the winter! I'll get there probably late monday or Early tuesday I have plans on making my home at Z-hills and Deland. I'll need some buddies! Typically I'll be at the dropzone Sun-Wed. So what do you guys think, anywhere else I should hit?
-
Even with Claritan, I struggle. It certainly helps with my eyes, and sneezing, but does nothing for allergy induced asthma. Cats are the only thing I'm allergic too. Really sucked when I dated a girl with a cat.

How do I safely travel with my new rig?
peggs82 replied to inyournavl's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have also heard, when the TSA wants to open your reserve, people have pointed out the seal of a FAA certified rigger. Sometimes thats enough to get them off your case about the reserve. Also remember that if they do want anything opened, you have the right to be there to do it. If it comes to unpacking your reserve, ask for their supervisor (good luck with that at some airports) and try to explain (or plead) with them that there is financial loss to you for opening it. Be very courtious and offer to let them re-x-ray your rig, and do the bomb sniffer thingy (I believe thats a technical term) or whatever else is required. It is all in that document and thread others have mentioned. From what I have read on this subject, travling with your rig is pretty pain free though, these are just worst case senarios. That being said, leave yourself plenty of time to repack your main if you have to, and enough room to stuff your reserve if that gets opened BTW...I would never let $3,000-$5,000+ of my stuff out of my sight!
