  1. Well I started at 275 lbs 108 days ago. Here is what I looked like at 265 lbs and now 245 lbs as of this morning. I am almost there and DAMN does it feel good. 2. Priceless. Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  3. Empty carbs no good! If you still drink sodas, swap 'em out for water (Or black coffee if you can't live without caffeine, like me ;-) and that'll help a lot too! I mostly didn't exercise and mostly didn't gain much weight after I stopped drinking sodas back in '98. All things in moderation, too. Stop eating when you're comfortably full, even if there's still food on the plate! If you're strength training, you're going to be losing fat but gaining muscle. So it's not too surprising to hit plateaus. Just make sure to build healthy habits around eating right and exercise, and don't get discouraged if you backslide a little every once in a while. As long as you keep your eyes on the goal, it's actually pretty easy! Have you managed to get in the tunnel yet? You should be able to fly there now. You can probably get back into AFF now too -- check with your drop zone. I was about your weight when I did my AFF 1 in July. They just slapped me on a 300 square foot canopy and it worked just fine. The tunnel's a pretty decent workout, too. I noticed I'm starting to see muscles on me. If I keep this up, I might actually consider myself... fit... at some point. That's actually a bit of a surprising thought for me... Not yet. Money is still tight until next year. I am trying my best to get in the tunnel! 30 lbs gone finally!!! BOOM!!!!!! It was a depressing couple weeks since I didn't lose any weight but today I stepped on the scale and there it was 245 lbs! only 20 lbs left to get to 225 and where I want to be. 4. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2371490;page=unread#unread ^here is the thread! Yeah it's definitely a great motivator. Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  5. Well I was bound to have at least one week where I didn't lose any weight. Still at 246 lbs. I will obviously have to stop eating cake for breakfast and cookies for lunch for a while. It is good to know that I didn't gain any weight even though I ate like an asshole all week long and didn't do any strength training. Time to start lifting more, pushing myself harder, and eating better. (I didn't GAIN any weight which is a positive note) For those following my progress... I'M SORRY! I WON'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN. *bangs head against the wall* Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  6. Congratulations FELIX!!! Already training my 5 month old to get to 150,000!
  7. That's wicked cool. Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  8. I'm glad the thread was still there. I wish I still had the video. Lot's of people don't believe how bad it really was. It was a freak accident that was my fault. Definitely won't happen again. I am definitely enthusiastic!! I can still remember what it felt like 6 years ago to be sitting at the door excited to roll out of the plane for my cat B. This time around I will remember to pull. I have an old Altimaster V on my lunch bag that I stare at every day. I would wear it on my wrist everywhere but that would be taking it a bit to far. Either way I won't forget to pull this time and I will be a skydiver hopefully before I turn 35.
  9. THANK YOU! I know I can do it! I lost another lb this past week for a total of 29!! My trainer told me that I am allowed to start my aff when I hit 225 because of all the strength training I am doing. That's only 21 more lbs to lose! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!! Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  10. Glad you made it back safe brother. Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  11. I forgot I had this thread posted. Very interesting. Definitely not dating that chick anymore and am now married to a beautiful lady. Still haven't finished my AFF but I have a goal to do this at the begining of next season. Lots has happended in 6 years. Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  12. 247!!! Another pound and a half! Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  13. The women checking me out has definitely started! My wife hit on me yesterday! It was wicked hot. Yeah changing your diet and understanding what your body needs to sustain is so much better than any stupid diet that's out there. All I am doing is watching what I eat and working out. That's it. Feeling better and looking better is definitely a plus but my major plus will be when I get that letter A with a number combination after it. Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  14. All I know is that I wished I was paying attention on my Category B. DAMN COA!!! Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  15. 248.5!!!!!!!! I knew I lost more than just the 2 lbs on Monday! This is huge! I have reached a new weight set on the scale! I am closer and closer to my goal!!! I FEEL F-N AWESOME!!!!!! Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  16. I definitely will buddy!! I want to make sure I have everything down so that I can get my license in 25 jumps not more!! Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  17. Thank you! Can't wait to book some time in the tunnel. It will feel good to start flying again. Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  18. Another 2 lbs gone. That's 25 total! I'm now at 250 which means I can get in the tunnel and start flying! Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  19. Perfect. Start saving your pennies now for a rig, and by the time you get a license and are buying your own rig, you'll be able to afford something 'nice'. I'm kidding (sort of), but really any container built in the last 10 years is going to be freefly friendly. The container is your only concern when it comes to freeflying, the canopies or AAD have nothing to do with it (unless you buy an AAD besides a Cypres, then a misfire while you're doing 160mph on your head might be a problem. Buy a Cypres). If you're buying new, it will be good for freeflying. If you're buying used, you'll need the help of a rigger to inspect anything you want to buy, so make sure you mention to them that freeflying is important to you, and they'll steer you clear of anything that might be problematic. OK really, start saving money now. If you can pay for your training up-front, you'll probably get a discount and you'll be able to jump (and finish) as quickly as the weather will allow. Beyond that, you have to buy all of your gear -rig, jumpsuit, helmet, altimeter, audible, goggles, etc, and then you'll need money to jump it all. One thing I know for sure, you can never show up to the DZ with too much jump money. I've shown up with too little, as-in not enough jump all day, and it sucks. I end up packing or doing things in the parking lot to make some quick cash for another couple jump tickets. I agree with the money aspect. I have already gone for my license in 2006 and on my Category B I had a wicked hard opening and ended up with 2 cat scans and surgery. I have a helmet now which is good. I believe my wife is getting me the L&B Altitrack for christmas. I'm definitely not looking to buy new up front. I know that I won't buy new until I figure out the size of canopy I want to fly. Up front they will be too big and I will just waste money on new. (definitely been scouring the forums looking for advice) I can't wait to purchase one just for me though. Knowing it will fit perfect and was sewn together just to save my life. Can't wait to go back next year... it seems so far away but I know when March comes and I am sitting there at Safety Day everything will be right in the world and I will be 25 jumps away from feeling like I belong. Cheers!! Thank you for your advice about the Cypres!! That's huge and I haven't had anyone tell me that yet!! Edit: to include Cypress comment. (stupid Dan) Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  20. I haven't had any nightmares yet but I have had a few really fantastic dreams. One of them I am standing on the ground with some other people and realize I can just arch and start flying around as if I just jumped out of the plane. My other dream that I've had a few times I am at an unknown DZ, there are big barns where everyone is hanging out, the plane is bigger than an Otter. I don't talk to anyone. I am just all of a sudden in the plane. We all jump, fly for a bit, and then I'm all of a sudden on the ground. There is no canopy ride. It's a great dream. I've had this one a few times. Considering I have only jumped a couple times I find these dreams AWESOME!!!! Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  21. Ok now that you are well over 14 jumps... What did you end up getting? I am going for my AFF at the begining of next season and all I can think about is freeflying. Did a search for gear in the forums and this was the first one to pop up. Thank you in advance. Sincerely, Daniel (not as fat as he thinks he is) Adams http://www.skyjump.com http://www.vimeo.com/dandaninc http://www.youtube.com/dandaninc
  22. I agree. I smoked for 13 years and quit last November. I always had respect for where I was. However now that I quit I have become a complete ass to those who smoke around me.
