  1. Sweet looking piece. How would you check/pull focus without a monitor? And if you got a micro+monitor, why not just get the pocket?
  2. While you can't process video you have already shot, this app uses the gyro in the phone to know where the camera is in space and stabilizes with minimal processing time. http://blog.instagram.com/post/95829278497/hyperlapse-from-instagram
  3. http://tempus.bymac.org Not sure if it works with your rig
  4. Google around for IR triggers, that is what I use for the NEX 7 which also has lame app restrictions.
  5. Electronic shutter could open up some cool strobist options.
  6. Be careful with the bolt-through-helmet option. The threads in the CX100 are notoriously weak. I glued a washer to the CX to reinforce the mount.
  7. the body is small, the two lenses stacked on top of each other, not so much this is also an option: http://www.amazon.com/Rokinon-FE8M-S-Fisheye-Alpha-Black/dp/B002LU3DLA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338495237&sr=8-1
  8. NEX-7 with 16mm lens and fisheye conversion lens gives pretty good quality, much better than GoPro, less than 5D.

  10. Seriously? Back to the brand thing? I guess I need to make my jokes a bit more clear, maybe a smiley or something. I love both my Tonysuit and my PhoenixFly suit. Different tools for different jobs.
  11. I think the future is bright for positive lift in wingsuits. Mere days ago it was stated as fact that and now the impossible is possible as the resident expert of GPS wing suit tracking shows that If such progress is possible in only three pages of banter, imagine what the coming weeks, months or even years hold.
  12. There is a foam pool toy in the Tony and Phoenix arm wings that gets dislodged from time to time but it doesn't really affect handling. I am not sure you fully understand the effect of thermals on a hot day Jarno, they are very powerful forces, especially near the edge.
  13. No, I think it is a true reading. The thermals were exceptionally strong and when combined with a dive produced the results seen in the video.
  14. . . . and I'm sure a PF Venom would have as well, the thermals were strong that day. http://vimeo.com/28187656 A pretty impressive display of agility, speed and downright sexiness.
  15. You can't see it because it is a leg-pouch and the camera is on his helmet. You can see the speed of his hand and understand that he is not holding onto the PC. Frode is an extremely experienced pilot so I don't think that is the issue.
  16. No, you can check out the video if you like. The PC hops around in the burble (big V4 burble) after a clean and quick pitch. http://vimeo.com/26025408
  17. super-ultra-mega scary everything turned out fine
  18. I refuse to believe that my dead friends have nothing to teach. If "shit happens" is the cause of a fatility then how can we avoid it in the future? Everyone wants to think their crew is safe and that some outside force, "shit happens", just swooped in and took away their friend. I know this feeling from experience. If we use the "shit happens" excuse then we can go on making the same mistakes and never having to shift our world view to see that we are fallible. If we learn from the people who paid the ultimate price for their mistakes then we will be honoring their passing.
  19. Everything except the widely accepted "shit happens" factor, which should never be ignored. While widely accepted, the "shit happens" factor has never been implicated in a single fatality. Drowning upon landing, tangled pilot chute, slipping at an exit point, jumping a frozen solid canopy, off headings into the object and on and on. These aren't under the "Shit happens" category? I guess maybe we have a different understanding of what "shit happens" means. To me, it sounds like you just listed off a bunch of mistakes made by humans, pilot error. "shit happens" is an unavoidable catastrophe, a concept completely absent from BASE jumping
  20. Everything except the widely accepted "shit happens" factor, which should never be ignored. While widely accepted, the "shit happens" factor has never been implicated in a single fatality.
  21. Any idea how it will handle 5D Mark II footage?
  22. My point exactly. Yuri is developing hypotheses about speed that are not supported in the real world. Oddern is doing real-world testing on the WBR course. My observation is that the X-Wing is pretty quick, if Oddern says the X2 is quicker then I am excited to see it in action.
  23. Why was Robi faster than Frode at half his weight and flying a bigger suit? (V4 against V3) Why is Espen the fastest of them all while maximizing his glide? Simple physics are not so simple when you add complex humans. Oddern is a skilled pilot out there trudging through the snow to put test jumps on the X2, trust his real-world knowledge.
