  1. Google "native ISO T1I" Noise Ninja Hard to say, but it is a smaller sensor, so it will be noisier than its big brothers. Are you shooting in RAW?
  2. It's all the fun of an S-Fly Expert with all the range of a PF Phantom.
  3. A question for Jarno, Robi or anyone who can do this...When you are in the weeds like that how much lift do you have available in the suit to dig your way out if you need to? Or are you right at the edge of the suits envelope when you are down there? If you look for the rear-facing camera angles you can see that the armwings are folded back considerably. The pilot is in a steep dive ready to plane-out if it gets ugly. The other 80 flights on the same line, starting 200 feet above the trees and shaving it closer and closer would make for a boring video.
  4. The Shadow takes a bit steeper line than the P2, flying a bit faster. It will be an mind-blowing upgrade from your classic in terms of ease and performance.
  5. I think that is a picture of Zion National Park
  6. Great flying and great edit! I am glad to see the Shadow and the Phantom play so well together.
  7. To avoid the lockup issue you can use a suite of programs. In Final Cut you can use the "send to" command to export the job using compressor. This will let you keep working in final cut while exporting multiple versions of the video. Premier and media encoder should work in the same way. The Mac Pros are due for an update so I wouldn't get one.
  8. If you do end up getting a Canon for video make sure to get Premier Pro. It will save you a lot of headaches.
  9. Looks great! For the smoothest motion I set my shutter speed to a close interval of the frame rate. Since my 5D only does 30 & 24 fps, my shutter is at 1/30, 1/50 or 1/60. You will need to buy an ND Filter to hit this shutter speed in the daytime. The iPad plays the Canon DSLR files really well if you want a larger screen to quickly review and check focus on the stuff you shot in the field.
  10. I agree, two minutes is way fast! So, Final Cut is the bottleneck? Would iMovie to iDVD be a better solution? Does iMovie play nice with the MP4 files the GoPro produces? Or is Vegas running in Parallels the better way? Thanks for the responses so far.
  11. No. Hopefuly longer transfer time will be offset by not needing to convert the footage. There may be a FireWire card reader available, the one I use is only USB
  12. I am trying to design a complete tandem hand cam setup. Does anyone have any experience with this setup? GoPro HD capture, Final Cut Express editing and iMac DVD burning. I like the GoPro over the CX 100 because the footage should be editable without conversion, making for a quick turnaround. I don't think the quality difference between the CX 100 and the GoPro will be painfully evident in standard DVD output. The fixed super wide-angle of the GoPro shouldn't be a problem because it will only be used and a hand cam. Thoughts? Experiences? Warnings? thanks!
  13. All the sound was 'faked in' mostly because the sound from the cameras is so poor and I didn't have the time to run outside sound The wobble was from the de-shaking process and is more noticeable in the CX-100 shots, I think because the footage is interlaced
  14. it feels weird replying to myself, but my question got answered through an email The X-Bird will be harder to stall than a V3 because of its lower wingloading, the same way a 260 sqft Blackjack is harder to stall than a Xaos-27 even though the Blackjack flies forward more slowly.
  15. Here are the production details: 5D Mark II with 24mm f/1.4 CX 100 with Opteka .3x Apple Shake to de-shake all the footage (the 5D footage faired better in this step, i think because it is progressive) Final Cut Pro to put it all together Soundtrack Pro for the sound effects (no original sound) Apple Color to grade the whole shebang Apple Compressor for output
  16. I finally finished editing my 2009 trip to the three walleys of Norway, including the World Base Race and the world record 49-way jump You can check out the finished product here: http://vimeo.com/8539030 Lots of great flights and super-cool people, I can't wait for next year
  17. another classic example of lazy flockers the skier didn't even TRY to keep up with Hans' fallrate, just bending his legs and dropping out of the sky http://www.vg.no/sport/ski/artikkel.php?artid=588737 english translation: http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.vg.no%2Fsport%2Fski%2Fartikkel.php%3Fartid%3D588737&sl=no&tl=en
  18. MathYuri, It is obvious to me that the X-Bird flies considerably slower than the V3. From your mathematical perspective, do you think it stalls more easily? Is it flying close to a stall point? thanks!
  19. S-Bird flight: http://www.matttg.com/eiger.htm maybe the x-bird could go longer?
  20. looks like it got done: http://www.matttg.com/eiger.htm nice work Mattt!
  21. the HD is much improved but still has the jello when I tried it the 1080 option was acting up, but I am sure they will fix that before release I will be getting one for sure, under the proper lighting conditions the size fully outweighs the quality issues Now how will I grade GoPro, CX100 and 5D Mark II footage together?
  22. I think it will look a bit like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkZ7Tyf7_YM&feature=related
  23. Sorry, my comments weren't directed at you. I don't think you are shooting the 5D so my links won't be of much use. A quick search of The Google will bring up everything you need. This is a good topic for the 'working' shooter and I am glad you brought it up.
