British Skydivers....currency question.
deaffreeflyer replied to dropoutdave's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Usually it is good idea to do 1 or 2 jumps every 2 months to keep current. It's better if this person go back to a DZ where he/she did AFF there. It'll be less difficult to jump again. It's depends on CCIs and instructors. They probably will go through everything with this person such as canopy control, emergency drill, deployment position etc... If this person did everything right then they're happy and probably will let him/her to do a solo jump. Maybe with an instructor to be just in case. I think he/she should contact a DZ and see what they said. Don't worry about it too much because one of my friend is a very lowtime jumper ('A' holder and ~35 jumps) he didn't jump much he wanted to. He only do 1 or 2 jumps every 3 months and he didn't have any problem. Once he haven't jump for 6 months and no problem for him jump again as long as CCI and he are happy with emergency drill and canopy control. I don't think she/he have / need to go through AFF again. If he/she forced to do some AFF again - go somewhere else cos they're rip this person off and so unfair! -

Yep. I have to admit that I thought it was Atmonauti when I saw that picture first time. I bet European thought the same!
-
Yeah I understand the difference between Atmonauti dive and Flocking dive. I looked at skreamer's pic careful and compared with Atmonauti's angoli pic. I realised it was fish-eye effect on the picture made it looks like Atmonauti dive. Drew probably is right. What do you reckon?

Skydiving: How Old Then, How Old Now?
deaffreeflyer replied to Kramer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions

I have near 300 jumps. More or less 175 freefly. I can sit very solid and feel comfortable, forward, backward, very slow and very fast, turn and orbit. Dock softly - I found it trick to do. Still working on my dock, transition, fast forward and sitfly speed range - I seem have trouble to keep same speed all the way down with fast sitflyers. Strange that I can do those things better when I am not thinking to do it. Dunno why. I guess I will never stop learning how to fly...

I am not surprised! It happened to me same thing a few years ago.

You're not worse than this guy - Ian Smith. It took him 52 AFF jumps to achieve his 'A' License. Yes I am not kidding - 52 jumps! In his word, "I am not exactly the world's most natural skydiver". Shame he's no longer jumping. I really adrimed him for keep trying and didn't gave up! His skydiving pages are really interesting to see his struggles progress. Check his website out:- http://www.iansmith.co.uk/skydive/index.htm Edit: link sorted!

Yeah it was great fun with you. Wish I had a video on you! The look on your face was so awesome -
If you're doing solo jump - just stick to Porter! Trust me, you don't want to do that from Twin Otter - if no choice then pull HIGH! I landed off twice and took me 1 hour walk back to DZ through sunflower fields - not fun!

2k Composite owners.....may I pick your noggin?
deaffreeflyer replied to jose's topic in Photography and Video
Bad news - yes. Len is VERY close to side of the 2k composite helmet than any other helmets. A bloke tried it and disappointed with result. I saw his video and I can see the side of helmet on video very easy. Why don't you try someone's 0.3 len (at your DZ?) and see what you find. Test it before you buy it! -
GPS Drawing - you must check this out!

Personally I don't think it's worth it. My Safire was mod by an ex-owner - he increased brake line length to use riser. Anyway I found it quite difficult to land it and I couldn't find stall point - it had to be flare before my knees! Yesterday I had to un-mod it back to manufacturer's standard measure. Oh it flared much better and performance's even better before. I can able to land it well and soft. My rigger told me my Safire's brake line was about 6-7 inches too long! I have no idea why this ex-owner needed to mod it.

Yep that is excalty what I thought. Thanks for clear it up.

I thought carefully and tried to picture it. I'll do my best to explain it in my not so good English. It would be too risk to land in a wingsuit into Skyvan & Casa's tailgate because there might be no air stream flowing from between tailgate or It might be too burdle to try, or there might be no wind at all. - I can imagine someone hitting their head on either the tail or edge of tailgate..... Do i need to go on?! Hope you all understand what I am trying to say?
-
Whoa! That's BARGAIN deal! Did you tried put it on, jumped on it and like it very much? If yes - GRAB it!
-
Yep it's joke. I have heard this before. But still it's very useful lesson!

Thanks! I guess NP-FM50 is standard battery, I was told NP-FM30 battery's size is very same as NP-FM50's. I just ordered it few days ago and hope it'll arrive just before Babylon Festival! Will post my helmet pix when I recieved it

I wonder if this Cookie D-Box will fit PC101 with a battery model: NP-FM30 or FM50?
