  1. You'll have to show us a pic of yours when it heals up a bit better... here's a shot of my first (and only so far) tattoo.. got it in september of last year... already want more ;)
  2. I've heard that neosporin is actually bad for tattoo aftercare... my artist said no-no on neo but okay to use Bacitracin or A&D ointment. Both are available at local drug stores... The following is from an after tattoo care website... Use a mild antibacterial soap or any other gentle soap that is free of deodorants, skin softeners, or other additives. Rub the soap gently on the tattoo using your fingers. After you clean the tattoo, gently pout cold water over it for a few minutes. The cold water will tighten your pores, which will help the tattoo heal healthily and quickly. Some tattoo artists believe that the cold water helps the color set in. Lightly, pat the tattoo dry with a soft towel. Carefully, apply a light coating of A & D ointment. DO NOT smear ointment on too thick because your skin needs to be able to breath. A small drop of ointment should be enough to cover the tattoo, depending on the size of the tattoo. Gently massage a small dab of the ointment into the tattoo using your fingertips. You can use Bacitracin or even a gentle additive free lotion as long as it is water based, such as Corn Huskers Lotion. But, since A & D ointment contains nothing but skin healing vitamins A and D, it's the ideal balm to use on a new tattoo. For the first two weeks after you get your tattoo, keep it away from water as much as possible. Use only your fingers to wash the new tattoo. And, blot it dry with a soft towel. New Tattoo Don'ts Do not rebandage a tattoo. Never use soaps with additives such as special scents, skin softeners, etc. Make sure to use water-based products, non-petroleum based. Never use loofahs, sponges, washcloths, cotton balls, paper towels, or anything else but your fingers to clean a tattoo. Do not put a new tattoo under a full force faucet. When taking a shower, don't let the water directly hit the tattoo. When taking a bath, don't submerge the tattoo in the water. Don't coat the surface of the tattoo too thick with ointment, as you will suffocate the skin, cause it to scab up and increase your risk of infection. No rubbing, scrubbing, picking, or scratching, no matter how much it itches! Hope it helps till you hear from a professional....
  3. 9 years and 364 days ago, I made my first skydive at Perris. It was my 18th birthday and it was phenomenal. Jumped tandem again a few months after that, and then took about a 7 year hiatus due to finances, school and ... well.. life, but got back into it a few years ago while living in Monterey, CA. Did one more tandem (3rd time's a charm) and was totally hooked.... did AFF, got my A license and have a total of 50 jumps under my belt. But... (feels like confession time...) forgive me skydiving gods, for I have sinned.. it's been about a year and a half (maybe a little more?) since my last skydive. Thing is... I happen to be just up the street from Perris again... and tomorrow is my birthday... and the sky sure does look like a marvelous shade of blue... Guess I'm feeling just a bit apprehensive about going up there again after havin so much time off... Just wondering if anyone is gonna be out and about jumping at Perris tomorrow... or if anyone knows what all I'd need to do just to get back up in the sky again. i'd love to say this is going to be the starting point where I'd begin jumpin regularly again, but unfortunately I've got a deployment the end of this month that'll keep me away for a bit... but I still think it might be fun and totally worth it to celebrate my 10th year of skydiving/28th birthday... any thoughts?
  4. wow okay nevermind. apparently... when the light is ON... it means the tv is OFF... but if its off, then the tv comes on like 10seconds later. strange. but whatever. at least its working... now i just have to continue on with the setup.
  5. OK... so seriously. I posted on here a while ago about purchasing a tv... then went out and got one, and heard from a quite a few folks (on here and off) that a combo tv/dvd player was a bad idea. So... I was online shopping and bought one from Costco... but I got it and it was a piece of crap! The quality on screen was not anywhere near what the best buy one was... so I took that back. Then this morning I read the ad for Target and they had an Olevia 26" LCD HDTV on sale for 447, and it included an HDMI cable to connect a dvd player or cable up to. So.. bought that... brought it home... and..... it doesnt work Plugged it in, read the instructions on the disc (not very helpful by the way). The little blue light is on... but nothing is happening. its just a dark blank screen. I tried calling their tech support, but they dont have any tech dudes on the weekend. So.... i went ahead and drove the 20miles roundtrip again to exchange it for another tv. And this one is doing the same thing i've got it plugged in, I have my antenna thing plugged in.. it should be good to go. But nope, nada zilch. The only time it does anything is when I turn it off, a blurry image of Olevia comes on and then disapears. Anyone else buy one of these or know anyone who's had any issues?? Or is this my sign once again that I should buy a sharp or sony or not get one at all. uggh
  6. yep. its written incorrectly though.... the script is written left to right instead of right to left, so it doesnt say anything at all... however, if you're trying to get what the genius who created it was trying to say, it says something like "egyptian that security forces exchange". Or somethin. Then again I dont have my trusty dusty dictionary with me... so I could be way off. But like I said.. the way its printed, it doesnt say anything at all.
  7. they've also got them showing on ABC.com, where, incidentally if you have not had the wonderful opportunity to see what all this buzz is about, you can watch ALL 3 seasons for free online! Just make sure you scroll to the bottom to begin watching them (the newest ones are at the top, so the first ones are at the bottom... and you have to watch it in order to have it make any sense!)

    I must be crazy

yeah. i need all that too. but its just gonna have to wait. I'm hopin for a rig with my tax return though

    I must be crazy

Well.... I dont know whats been getting into me lately. But I sure have been spending a lot of money! Since moving to Utah, I've bought a sofa, loveseat, bed, bedframe, dishes, dining set, etc etc... last week I bought a new HD tv. today.. i just bought a laptop. A macbook. But, i figure since I'm going to be 'going to school' (albeit online) I needed a new computer. My 2002 compaq was just about dead. So yeah. I made the switch from PC to Mac. I hope i did the right thing!
  10. oh man i miss tubin down the guadalupe! I miss san antonio too still feels like home whenever I go back. Maybe one day it will be "home" again. Have fun out there!
  11. almost always on my toes... I hate it when they're not done. But I cant get a manicure to last longer than me getting into my car, so i've pretty much given that up. Acrylics are nice, if you an afford to keep them up. I guess i'm too rough with my hands cause i'd always end up breaking them... and when you do eventually take them off, your nails are super brittle.
  12. So I'm about to run out on my 6month promotional special of $19.99/month for high speed internet from comcast. If i decide to keep it, it goes up to a whopping $54.99 plus taxes! There is Qwest, which is a little bit cheaper... but i'm afraid that it would also mean a whole lot slower too... I'm just trying to decide how much is too much for it! My old apartment I just 'shared' with my neighbors wireless connection... no such luck where i'm at now but i'm just curious.... how much do you pay? and when would it be too much?
  13. oh my gosh. spin class is like the hardest workout i've ever done, for just the sake of working out. I dont think its remotely possible to do a spin class and not shower. The people who go weekly are freaks! I've honestly wanted to kill the chic leading spin a few times. And of course trying to sit anywhere but on a toilet the first few times you go is a joke! You should try it. Its great fun
  14. Ouch! I waited and waited and finally went out to best buy. I was there when all the good advice started pouring in. Now, as far as getting taken by the salesman.. if i do get a separate tv/dvd, should i plan on buying the expensive dvd player and cords as he said? or just get a cheap $25.00 player. i am pretty happy with this so far.. but i'll keep checking the prices at all the stores in the next 30 days to see if a better deal comes up.
  15. Well... I ended up goin out to best buy and getting one... a 26inch LCD HD TV with a built in dvd player. As the guy explained it.... if i were to purchase the dvd player separately and wanted the HD quality to it, i'd have to buy the expensive DVD player and then the special cable for it, which is another 50bucks. So... yeah. Got that. BUT! I'm so excited because I get like 10 awesome channels with the rabbit ears!! Whooo hoooo when LOST comes back on, i'll actually be able to watch it live! And Greys anatomy! Wow... i'm going to become a couch potato! I think this is like the millionth thing i've spent my enlistment bonus on. Thankfully, after 2+ years, i'm finally actually getting the bonus so I wont be able to spend it on anything else! haha!
  16. Ouch... hope you get a doc as good as you to fix you all up! Get better soon!
  17. acckkkk! You guys are killin me!!! I hate hate hate making decisions. Probably the main reason I dont have a TV is cause I cant decide which one to get. Grrrrr
  18. OK... So in the bedroom, yeah-i'd say so... But what about on a TV? I've lived without one for ever and a day... watch dvd's on my laptop and occasional shows on the internet when the post a few days later. But now I want a TV for my never used living room. And so I'm looking online and getting more confused by the second. How important is the HD part? Would it even make a difference if I dont have HD cable? Are brand names important? Is it better to get a separate DVD player or just get one thats got one built into it. Adivce greatly appreciated! And Merry New Year OH YEAH... and how much of a differnence does 6 inches make? going from a 20inch to a 26 inch is quite a big jump in price... does it make that much of a difference when whatchin on tv?
  19. I havent had cable in I dont know when. I actually dont even have a TV. But books? yeah. I got books. Jodi Picoult is probably my favorite author. My Sister's Keeper probably tops the list of my favorites from her, though I havent been disapointed by any yet. Unlike some authors that keep the same type story, hers are all totally different topics with different characters. She's just incredible. The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hossini are both very good books. Hard to read, hard to stomach, but I think everyone should read em. I also am a huge Alice Seybold fan-The Lovely Bones is great. And of course there's always Harry Potter! I still cant believe its over :( I want more!!! Good luck on finding a book and author that you really like. Be sure to post the good stuff so we can all check it out!
  20. i'm sending out about 45... each with a quick note. no time to write out lengthy stuff-but at least i'm getting them out before new years!
  21. yep... i definately learned a lot about myself. Like i said... i thought i wasnt going to make it through quite a few times- especially out in the woods. I've lived a lot of places-none of them big on snow. Trying to navigate and 'survive' in 3 feet of snow with continual snowfall and freeeeeezzzzzing cold temperatures, along with the fact that I am a total clutz and fell about every 5 steps in snow shoes made life a little more than difficult. I dont even want to know what that ruck sack weighed after becoming completely soaking wet-but it was heavy- and nearly impossible to get up after my graceful pirouettes into the snow. And its nice to know I can make a shelter out of a poncho-but my teeth chattered pretty much non stop all throughout the night. My toes are still numb from the experience. OH... and did i mention our instructors told us when we got back that the conditions we were in were probably the worst ones they've sent students up on in about 20 years?! And that was just the SE part of the training. The RE was a whole other battlefield! but thanks again for all the congrats... i do feel pretty stoked about getting through it all. One more week up there in January and I'll be done-and then, after 2 years of training-i'll actually get to start doing my job! haha.
  22. yeah... its been about 10-20degrees here throughout most of our training. you never know just how cold the ground is till you're laying half naked on it. and it IS amusing to watch those folks who take a bit longer to figure things out. and hell no... i wouldnt want to do it any longer than what I did. This has been plenty of snow and cold and crap. I am surprised they dont make us return in another season (ie summer) but I'm not gonna ask for it!! and for all you who know instructors or are gonna be instructors!!!! wow. they are some special people. Some of the best actors I've ever come across!! Its hard to sit beside them even when its back in a classroom environment! and now... its time for some of those tasty adult beverages I've been dreaming about all day!! yay!
  23. thanks for the congrats.... Air force.....up at Fairchild AFB in spokane, wa. but I dont care how many jokes you crack about us being the chair force... this training was tough!! 5 days in the woods, couple of classroom days, then resistance training (ugghh) few more death by power point classes, a final trip to happy land ......and now we're done! i honestly didnt think I was going to make it through... several times i wanted nothing more than to just quit, but even if i had.. i would have had to start over. I'm just glad its done. I have to come back for another weeklong course in January.. but at least i'll have some recovery time!
  24. Holy holy crap... I didnt think these 17 days were ever going to end... but I'm finally done with Survival School!!! I know i know i know that I'm very fortunate to have the chance to go through this course... but MAN am i glad its OVER!!! Supply turn in in about an hour, our 'graduation' shortly after that... several well deserved ice cold adult beverages tonight, and gettin on a jet plane home tomorrow!!! wahoooo!!!
  25. That is SO Great! Congratulations to you! You're truly an inspiration to folks like me too... I have no kids to worry about but getting back into the swing of school seems so far out there. I spent 63 weeks of 8 hour days plus study hall 2 nights a week and homework learning Arabic in the military, and it about killed me! But, I think once I finish this last bit of deployment training, I'm going to activate my GI Bill and go back. Problem is.. I still dont know what I wanna be! I love my 'real job' and dont need a degree for it, but, in planning for the future, I guess its not bad to have a back up plan. We'll see! And way to go on the EMT course! My sister, bless her heart, is going to school full time for that, while she works 3 jobs. I dont know how she does it!
