Neighbor Guns Down Robbers with Shotgun while on with 911
OverTech replied to Zipp0's topic in Speakers Corner
Actually he said "Move, you're dead". Apparently they moved. And when he said "I'm gonna kill 'em", it was in response to the operator telling him he was going to get shot. Not that I agree or disagree with what he did, I wasn't there. Maybe they went for their guns when he confronted them, maybe they tried to bum rush him. At that point it becomes self defense. As far as I know there is no law against confronting a suspected burglar. I hope that if my neighbors ever see someone making off with "loot" from my house they try to stop them. But anyway, it's for the courts to decide if the right to protect property extends to the property of your neighbor. Dave -
As explained to me by Beezy Shaw, the Nitro has more lift than most other canopies of the same size because of the "winglets". As a canopy flies, it has a certain amount of air flowing over the topskin. Some of that air flow gets wasted because it spills over the edges of the canopy on the side. The winglets on a Nitro channel more air over the topskin instead of letting it spill over the sides, which creates more lift than canopies without winglets. You can see the same principle on some aircraft (like the Boeing 737 for example). I don't know, nor claim to know, anything about aerodynamics or parachute design. That's just the explanation he gave me when I bought my Nitro. Dave

Skydive The Farm ROCKS! Excellent staff, a giant field to land in, 2 ponds, big hanger to pack in, plenty of space to camp, and lots of entertainment after dark! Great place for tandems, AFF students, freefliers, bellyfliers, beginners and professionals, everyone is welcome and treated as family!

Thanks, wish I could give more, but that's about my limit for now... Dave

Yep. Paypal charges a fee everytime you move money around, so just to withdraw funds will cost money. Makes more sense to just send a personal check. I was looking at some new toys to buy but I'm going to postpone those plans and send $1k myself... Dave

As a matter of a fact, I just bought a Garmin eTrex Vista cx off eBay a couple of weeks ago. I put batteries in it and made sure it worked, but I haven't actually used it for anything yet. Now I've decided to get a Garmin Foretrex 101 and I'm about to list this eTrex back on eBay myself. I gave $287 for it (haven't seen the cx models as low as you stated above) and will of course take a loss on it when I list it for resale. $200 and it's yours if you're interested, I'll pay shipping to US/Canada. It would save me the trouble of relisting it if nothing else. I know this is my first post on this forum, but that's only because I'm a lurker and new to the sport and therefore have no input to give anyone. But I'm legit, I jump every weekend at Skydive The Farm in Georgia and any of the instructors there can vouche for me. I know "popsjumper" (ground instructor at The Farm) is a regular on the forums, but I don't know if he ever comes into the Wing Suit Flying portion... Dave Koons
