This subject is good food for thought. On a Tony Suit should the zeg zipper go up or down? After opening I normally pull it up the suit but I don't get out of the suit that way I have to move them both back down again. I would think if you had presence of mind and you were going to land in the water it would be better to move the zippers down as if you were getting out of it on the ground, but maybe it works just as well either way? Purple Mike’s Wingsuit Rodeo Boogie at Skydive Houston Apr 23-25
repcool replied to Birdman_Mike's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I would have thought you would come up with some "creative" dirt diving to keep everybody busy Mike..... -
I have some photos from here and there related to skydiving. Some are from Everest and some from Wingsuit Bigways. They sit in a book on my shelf and if they would help you by getting them out and I am glad to share! PM me. Simon

I am not talking about brands here but style of suit. A Prodigy or Intro (with wings unclipped) is better for the first 1-10 jumps because there is no wing cutaway and not having to worry about a cutaway is one less thing to deal with those first few times. I am sure in some parts of the world\country getting a demo suit for just 5-10 jumps is not realistic but if you are somewhere that you can get one then why wouldn't you?

How often do people really grab the toggles without unzipping? If it is your first or second wingsuit jump and you need to get on them then it becomes an issue. When there are suits around that allow you to use toggles without unzipping then why introduce more change than needed? If your 201st skydive is a wingsuit jump and you have been used to grabbing yours risers up high on opening then you get a real nice surprise on your FFC and need a new technique to even grab your 3 rings.... We know 100 people will get away with 1000 first jumps without it being an issue...but then just ONE time... I have only needed to REALLY get on my toggles once when I had a break fire. That was on a Spectre, what IF that was a FFC and the canopy was not so wingsuit friendly? It is all just good food for thought... Simon

Very nice. I wonder what the view form the cable car was like!

I voted for the Intro but I think the Prodigy needs to be in the list as well. I did my first few jumps on a Prodigy and I think it set me up for success when I moved up to a P2. Simon

Does the new P2Z allow you to grab the toggles without unzipping or is it still just the 3 rings like the P1 and P2?
-
Can you reach the toggles without unzipping on an S3 like you can a Prodigy or Intro? Simon

I like that idea the most. I can see why it needs to be proved out on a PC first. I do have some options for using Windows on my Mac but I try and keep that to business needs and not the "fun" stuff. It also costs a virtual solution and windows license so it isn't an option for everyone. My question on the QA will become more important when this goes from test software to a robust and used system. By QA I didn't mean Question and Answer but Quality Assurance. This might come out later but it will be a big issue, version control, regression testing, ensuring that all the accepted standards in a tool like this always stay in place and do not deteriorate as the tool grows in others areas. It is a big issue in the software industry and something like this would need to be robust and certified I think. It might not be top of anybody's mind yet.

I watched the video, it looks nice and easy to use as long as your avoid getting in a discussion about tolerances! When will there be a Mac version available as I would like to play with it as well, without using my vmware. I am most interested to hear about the QA process for community software like this. I would imagine something used in judging would need to be certified wouldn't it? What body is responsible for certifying a judging system? Simon

I think this way you have more chance of having your identity stolen than leaving behind useful facebook information.

Why does it have to be a 7 cell?

I think we need a big boogie where many different methods are used to evaluate the same formations...seems like a good excuse to wingsuit to me.

(I was gonna add my name to the list again too, but figured one of me per event is enough.) I think Simon is trying to develop split personality by mid March. :) boy...I am clueless sometimes.....hmmm...do I want to be 3 or 7....

Thanks for the link.

Checklist for traveling with rig
repcool replied to Psychonaut's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Be aware that if you are traveling to other countries you might have to be comfortable with checking some rigs based on weight. I just returned from Australia with mine and due to it's weight it was not allowed in the cabin...i tried and I tried but all they did was tell me how crap American safety standards were for cabin bag weights.... -
