  1. You could do S/L training. I know it is not the "hip" thing to do now-a-days but trust me..as a college student myself..it is the way to go if you are a broke ass. I got my A lic for ~750 dollars. All 25 jumps with rental gear and all. Just a thought... Besides that, I don't buy any "worthless" crap, I rarely go out..if I do I get people to buy me dinner or whatnot I buy generic brand food at the grocery store. You get the idea, yes? http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  2. :8:tons -Skydive Chicago! - first time off the home DZ -First Otter jump -Passed my B test - just needed a cloudy day to motivate me. At least 3 of the 8 jumps were rockin. A 9 pt 5way, 12 pt 4way, 6 pt 6way, 8 pt 3way..woo. Let's just say that the other jumps were good "learning expierences" Met some cool people and had a blast. Good weekend. Couldn't get my 100th back at the home DZ though - 1500ft ceiling or so.. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  3. Good game! fun times and I will definately go back there sometime next season. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  4. Yea, probably the easiest way to learn is to get someone to teach you. I watched someone one time, next time I did it with assistance, the third time I packed it by myself and jumped it. Viola, learned how to pro-pack in one day. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  5. 0:4:backorder + 3 or 4 this weekend First snow jump First demo rig jump First jump on a 170 First tracking dive jump sheesh http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  6. I'll be there, driving from Minneapolis, MN. PM me to carpool. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  7. jeez Tito, there HAS to be someplace to jump and if you can't find a DZ then you aren't looking hard enough. I'll be jumping all winter in Wisconsin http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  8. Yup, I can. I'm beginning to get the feeling that you are just on here to troll the forums. This will be my last reply to you because you are probably enjoying all the attention. Edited to add: I won't jump with shades unless the other jumpers I am with don't mind. With that being said, I haven't found any good shades yet to jump with. maybe in the summer I will look harder. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  9. Nice post Brian.. Glad I am jumping all winter this year, eh, the cold I will have to deal with here in Minnesota/Wisconsin http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  10. I would keep it, I would expect you to progress to a 190 or equiv pretty quickly. Of course your instructors would know best, you should talk to them and see what they say. Maybe you could borrow/rent a 210 for awhile and then switch to the 190?? http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  11. I like doing HnPs or better, "Launch and tracks" - those are lots of fun for me. tracking on the hill I also like doing HnPs to understand my canopy better, I can tell how well I am packing it based on how it opens in a sub-terminal deployment. To echo what wildfan75 said, I will be doing many more HnP's during the winter, it was pretty cold last weekend and we aren't even to the cold months yet! http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  12. Happy bday, thanks for everything you do here. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.

  14. Woo, this weekend!! I hope to meet some folks from Sky Knights.. how many of you guys are coming up? The fun starts on friday afternoon. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  15. I quickly learned my wind limits a couple of weeks ago. Ground winds at about 15-17knots. I turned for final, which was the same place on the previous 4 jumps and ended up landing 30 ft behind my turn..I guess that wind picked up while we were in the air. Good landing though Anyway, I just wanted to point out that you should always be learning and I learned that I shouldn't be jumping in 15+ wind especially if gusty. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  16. 0:4:(still owe tons) +1 today for jumping my first pro-pack. 4 from 10k today, great weather...only think that slowed me down is the lack of sunlight...!!!! http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  17. They are called frap hats. Check around at retailers but they generally go for ~125 or so, new. Your DZ may have some for purchase too. edited to add: I haven't seen a brand name/manufactor associated with them. They are just simply called "Frap Hats" http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.

    Hangover

The worst hangover I had was while I was at the DZ... good thing the next day was really poor weather! Let's just say that a night of watching a mud-wrestling event with the whole DZ at a local bar will always lead to a good time. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  19. Wow, you guys are pretty daring leaving your phone number in a public place. meh, oh well Brian, you have pm (soon) http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  20. Same here! For the most part, I either get two responses: A) "WOW, that is so cool, where do I sign up" and then I give them the information and they chicken out..or B) "You are crazy, I would NEVER do that" i just say, ok...it makes me happy I did get 4/6 roomates to do the S/L course though! Maybe it was because I was gone every weekend in the summer and they wanted to see what was sooo cool. Only one continued and he just progressed to 10k a short while ago. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  21. heh, and you are just about at your B lic now. exactly the reason why I held off on getting my A. hmm, I should take my B test soon. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  22. I wish more people did that! I'm sick of the stories of people paying for coach jumps and paying the instructor's slot, etc. I have been in the plane and the total number of jumps between the 4 of us has been 30,000 or more (including my measily 60). As much as I want to skydive more, or do something else fun, I will always help when needed even if that means scratching myself off a load. People have done it for me, I will do it in return..! http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  23. :6:1? First time jumping with booties..Got 6 in today, amazing weather..loving it!! http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  24. I've been taught that the streamer is a "medium speed" mal, the drag from the BOS above you will be slowing you down. Anything above you should in theory slow you down, even if you are in the vertical position. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  25. Heh, exactly. He posts complete rigs on the classifieds here but I will never buy anything from the website...I can barely look at it without a seizure.. jk of course, it does need work though. (I have no expierence with the company though, so I can't comment on that.) http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
