Just a guess, but maybe if you want to use audio from one file you can import just the audio file rather than the whole video/audio file. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
My written logs experienced a decline when I got my neptune. Also, the problem I ran into was I didn't want to take the time after each jump to fill it out, I wanted to pack and get on the next load as soon as possible. Then at the end of the day, when I might still remember the details of the jump I did at 10 in the morning, I was more concerned with finding a student with beer and bullshitting. I will go back and log very memorable jumps, however (Night 5 way WS Jump, Thanks Z-Hills!). Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Take the rating seriously. Take the idea and execution of instruction seriously. Don't short change the students. Even if you don't charge your student for a student (pre-license) jump, be a knowledge base, know when to pass the question off to more knowledgeable jumpers and be confident in your own ability to teach them what they need to know. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

So why is a coach rating considered an instructional rating? And why at the coach course do they go over instructional techniques? Why are coaches allowed to teach pre-licensed jumpers? Edit: If I am going to do ground training, jump, and an involved de-brief then I think I should be compensated. However, if they just want to go jump to get out in the air and screw around then I won't ask for anything and I all do is make sure the student stays safe and maybe just maybe still learns something even when they screw around. Just looking for opinions or feedback / Canopy models
mnskydiver688 replied to Tuna-Salad's topic in Gear and Rigging
Sabre1 Baby! A little slider mod and you have a great canopy. Flies great in line twists, comes in handy when you decide to try wingsuiting after 200 jumps. Don't listen to all those "new" tech people. Try the original! -
With the grommet facing the reserve on a non-wingsuit jump the bag rotates 90 degrees as it leaves your back. When the grommet faces the reserve on a wingsuit jump the bag rotates 150~160 degrees when it leaves your back. On a non wingsuit jump that would be comparable to packing with the grommet to the back pad or a little less. How would that work? I don't know, but it doesn't sound right to me. I think you do get more benefit from packing grommet to pin if you have dynamic corners. But what the hell do I know. I have a little over 6% of your experience. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

They still sell the white MacBook with Firewire, but they did update the bus speeds to 1066mhz. So just throw in some more memory and upgrade the hard drive and you have a decent system. With Firewire. That is why I am glad I got a MacBook before they scrapped the Firewire 400. As DSE has mentioned before, using XP in boot camp can overcome the speed issue with card based cameras if you want to edit natively in AVCHD. Also, with the faster bus speeds you might have some luck using Adobe Premier in OSX. It supports native editing of AVCHD. As far as XP you can find volumes of DSE talking about Vegas. I ordered a copy of Movie Studio Platinum, but the disc was bad so I have to wait to get another copy from Sony . Good luck and hopefully USB works ok as a scratch disk. Oh you can pick up an OEM full version of XP for $150 on Tigerdirect. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

I had a Flexon for my first rig, (great first rig, kept me on my belly) that had a D-bag that was fairly flat and it would've made the bag bunch up weird had I packed grommet up. Thank you for clarifying the "staging" issue in regards to a pull out vs throw out. Wingsuiters shouldn't be using a pull out anyway. Another thing I thought of is when you have dynamic corners, which could leave some of the d-bag exposed, packing grommet to pin keeps your lines away from the small openings in the corners. I have seen some bad pack jobs where the bag was packed lines to BOC and line stows were sticking out. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Why are they not a good idea? If it is "friction staging" nevermind, there is another thread where that idea was beaten to death. I am just curious, because I have talked with a master rigger that teaches rigging courses and he doesn't see the issue. I am just curious to hear more reasons why they are a bad idea. It really is a matter of taking care of your gear. There was a jumper at my DZ that realized after a day of jumping that one of their cutaway loops had been worn down to only a few threads. There was a very real possibility of it breaking on opening or an aggressive landing. Also while the 3 ring reduces the forces greatly you must also consider other possible forces acting on it. Such as abrasions due to riser strikes, snags on helmets, excessive line twists. I think it is prudent to say that the loop can fail. If someone is not at all worried about it then there is a real chance they may never look it and never check it. With an extra 60 days on the pack cycle, being vigilant with even the most "minor" things is more important than ever. Just my 2.491234 cents Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

I jump with contacts also. Without them though I would be fairly blind. I started jumping with gatorz and all I do is make sure they are tight against my face around the edges and I don't have any problems. However it depends on what kind of contacts you are using as some come out easier than others. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

What Linear editing Board to buy?
mnskydiver688 replied to markovwgti's topic in Photography and Video
With the needed transcoding (AIC, ProRes) I am not sure that is possible. I have tried some different setups with iMovie and Adobe Premier. If my computer had enough power I would be able to edit AVCHD natively in Premier when I use an external scratch disk. The next best Mac option I use is transcoding to MPEG-2 Highest Quality, and then editing in Premier. However I just ordered an OEM copy of XP and Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum to try with Bootcamp. I guess I will have options. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -

It looks like with yours there is room underneath the camera where a rubber band could be fitted. With a Flatlock would there be any room underneath the camera? Side note how does the camera stay aligned on the Flatlock? I can't seem to see an alignment pin. Does the rubberized surface keep it aligned? Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
