Hijack! Why doesn't Tony put back deflectors on his suits? Just curious. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Bird-Man S6. What does the future hold? Maybe a Tonysuit. Or if they start making Bird-Man suits out of denim I might go with one of those. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

People hooking themselves in also seems to be the norm. You'd be surprised what kind of performance you can get at that WL. Trust me, there will be at least one jump where you are very thankful to have that extra fabric over your head. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

I am a fan of the Fusion. While the openings can be a bit wonky, but soft, the landings are very nice and the flare point is fairly intuitive. It planes out quite nicely too. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Thanks for all the info. After reading I guess flocking in the low to mid 60's isn't too bad for my experience and my suit combination. I guess when I fly with a guy who is 170-175lbs out the door in a phantom 2, I might be too hard on myself with regards to fall rate. However when it comes to forward speed the S6 kills it! One thing I have wondered regarding the fit of suit is the fit in the arms. As my suit is used, it fits relatively well but not perfect. It seems my arms are able rotate within the sleeves when I change the position of my arms on the ground. When the suit is inflated does this limit how much of a difference rotating my arms into different positions makes? When I flew a Firebird I noticed a much larger difference in flight characteristics as I rotated my elbows forward. I see most of the difference in the S6 with the angle of my arms relative to my body. Just some observations I have made. In response to your post, I am roughly 195lbs out the door and 5'10". You are so condescending toward others. Some are not as lucky as we are to suffer from this addiction. Nor do they have the means to begin addiction. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Also another thing to consider is leverage. The smaller the slider the more leverage the outside lines have on the slider. This increases the force pushing the slider down the lines. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Is there a magic body position that would get my decent below 50 mph? I have put about 30 jumps on my S6, and while I can flock relatively well my decent speeds really aren't that impressive. I am using a chest mounted neptune. I also have not broken the 2 minute mark either which is also frustrating. My opening altitude is 4k. I really like how the suit flies as far as stability and feel. Tips, tricks? Other than going and buying a tonysuit SM1-XS. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Ah ok. Well then I will let my rating go since it isn't much use. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

I assume the direction of jump run relative to the uppers would dictate when CReW exits. Crosswind jump run I guess either or would be fine, but straight upwind jump run I would think CRew would exit last or right before wingsuits. As far as wingsuits are concerned I always get out last. By the time I get out I can already see some canopies and by 9-8k I can see the entire jump run of canopies so I can adjust where I want to open depending upon that. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

...does your heart rate stop increasing on the way to altitude? Why would you want it too? ...does your mind stop saying "WTF are you doing standing on a strut of a plan 14K above the earth?" When you jump out of plane that doesn't require you to stand on a strut. ...does your family accept what you are doing and stop giving you hell about it? Ehh... ...do you cross the line between learning and having everything you've learned become second nature? When one thing begins to come naturally something new comes along to throw you a curve. ...do you realize that skydiving isn't just a hobby but a Lifestyle? When you sit there wondering where all your money went. ...when do you stop being nervous about making a mistake? Depends upon the degree of the mistake. ...do you stop making fun of noobs at the drop zone for doing something funny, stupid, wrong, etc..? That's the way you know people care. Trust me anybody gets made fun of for a number of things no matter their experience. Nobody's perfect. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Why do we need to abandon the coach's rating? Are you commenting on how in most places you have to pay quite a bit to jump with a coach? What course of action would you suggest? To the OP using search should bring back past threads covering your question. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

The PD Velocity is an example of a canopy that has a largely closed nose. The objective of moving the nose openings to the bottom and making them smaller, is it improves airflow over the canopy. When the cells fully inflate turbulent air forms in front of the openings. By keeping this turbulence towards the bottom it helps with lift and consistency throughout various flight modes. The faster the canopy flies the more pronounced the problem can become. Hence, seeing it on more high performance canopies. If some of that explanation is incorrect please correct me as I have not been in fluid mechanics for a couple years. Malcolm Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Let's say one of your friends were really into golf. You however really had no desire to get into it. Would you appreciate them trying to get you to go play every time they saw you? No matter how many times you said you didn't want to go they kept pushing. It would get annoying real fast. Think about it. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Knowing when to say no is just as important as knowing when to say yes. The citizens don't care that she got them what they wanted. They care that she wasn't able to do it without going into debt. You can't always fix stupid. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Coaches are like Grad Assistants. They have shown they know the material, but still need some help on the ability to convey that knowledge in a form understandable to the student. The coach rating is there to make a more smooth transition from a regular fun jumper to an instructor. Keep the student safe. Help further develop skills related to safety. Keep the student interested in becoming a better skydiver. Keep the fun going. Stave off boredom. Introduce the student to new exciting drill dives. Be a friend. Refer the student to others such as a rigger for gear advice. Be an information filter more so than a source. Don't be afraid to say I don't know and find someone who does. Just my thoughts as a new coach. Sky Canyon Wingsuiters

Question about spotting.
mnskydiver688 replied to npgraphicdesign's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What about us under 30 crowds who were trained at a Cessna DZ? Also if a guy with way more jumpsuit than normal (WS) says he wants to spot, beware! Sky Canyon Wingsuiters -
How does disconnecting the lower laterals affect standing or sliding in landings? Obviously I mean disconnecting after opening. Does it leave you with more flexibility or does it make controlling the student more difficult? I am looking at getting a tandem rating and I appreciate getting different opinions. I guess my next question is how do I remove the mylar? Can I have a rigger just do it or do I need to send it to Bird-man? Or is there a how-to book somewhere for removing them? Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
