  1. Yeah, they did. They paid extra for extra altitude and didn't get it. Probably not even a possibility in that plane. That is absolutely a rip off.
  2. Interesting. I have in my wallet right now silver certificates from 1934 and 1935. I've had them in a safe deposit box forever with no idea what they are really worth. Turns out a guy I work with is a coin collector, so I asked him. He said what is the denomination? 10 dollars I said. He replied that they are worth 10 dollars. Apparently paper currency doesn't appreciate because it is difficult to preserve.
  3. Johnny's rule #1: If you are not completely happy to drop everything and relocate to be with him/her/other right now, its not the right person.
  4. Parked in a remote lot to go to a boogie. A guy traveling with us was joe cool skydiver and wanted everyone to know it. Rig on his back uncovered, t-shirt, hat, closing pin necklace exposed. Well, we parked near to what appeared to be a very small puddle, but it was actually a pot hole. Yep, car comes by and hoses the guy down with some nice dirty water. One of the other guys in the group looks at him and says "what does it actually feel like to be such an idiot". End of the summer comes and guys like that tend to not show back up in the spring.
  5. I know this is off topic, but how could this be true? Everything I did in HS had to be typed and this is before you were even born. Everything in college had to be transmitted in electronic format. Being required to write out all your papers by hand just boggles my mind. It seems to be counter productive.
  6. My Irony Meter just maxed out. Wow. Mine is smoking.
  7. Is there going to be a lawsuit? If I lived there I would be pissed that my taxes would be spent defending the decision to remove that billboard. OT: Best billboard ever - In San Diego: When the Aliens come they'll eat the fat people first - 24 hr fitness It got removed, but it was funny.
  8. Alana - if you do donate today, don't drink tonight.
  9. The odds that you would be a bone marrow match are pretty minute, but you can still get yourself into the bone marrow registry. PSA> You can get into the national bone marrow registry. Your information will stay in there and you may eventually be a match and be able to save a life.
  10. Lymphomas are not the death sentence that some cancers are. They can be treated. EBV can be a precurser. There are some very very good oncologists in the 303. Bump this every so often so we remember to update on the blog. Best wishes to you. Be strong and let your friend see, feel, and feed off of your strength.
  11. Seriously people. I can actually feel my brain cells dying from reading this ridiculous thread. It ranks equal with the people saying the exact same thing about McCain. If you are actually arguing in this thread you really need to get a life.
  12. Lymphomas are treatable. EBV can often be a precurser to cancer. Thoughts and vibes to the 303. Keep us updated.
  13. I am sure there is plenty of space for them in Ft. Leavenworth. Yes they were court martialed, but we lost four guys total over an incident that never should have happened in the first place. An entire fire team is a very significant loss to a squad.
  14. So you don't think the full frontal shower scenes in thousands of movies (remember Porky's?) are included as an appeal to the sexual nature of the audience? You don't think there'd be a sexual aspect to co-ed showers at the gym? Blues, Dave MMMMMMM.........Porky's....... Whew, but really there is a big difference between a military communal head and a bathroom that offers some level of privacy, which the military communal head does not.
  15. In my experience, I was absolutely shocked at the swiftness and violence of the reaction to the situation. I think a time can and will come when sexual orientation is irrelevant to military service, but right now may not be the best time to start down that road with the Marines. I'm not sure what you mean by violent but swift is correct. If a Marine is discovered to be homosexual they are immediately separated from their unit and removed from service. At least that's what I witnessed while I was in. However I do feel the Marines would likely be the best equipped to adapt to such a change in policy. Ridicule and harrassment from individual Marines is a different story all together and will likely take a tremendous amount of time and training before the whole of the Corps becomes accustomed to such a policy. Where things become complicated is the use of heads (restroom and shower facilities for you civi's). We already have male and female heads. Will we need a gay head as well. You betcha. Will we need to segregate the heads for gale males and lesbians? Eventually. THAT is the only problem I can foresee. Combat and MOS restrictions aren't necessary in my mind. By violent, I mean......violent. I think the Marine Corps and Army would be the least equipped to handle an open policy. I expect the Navy would be a little better, but not much with the Air Force being the best equipped. How is the head even a consideration? If it actually is for you, there must be some sort of a sexual connection for you with a bathroom. For the majority of people regardless of sexual orientation, there is nothing sexual about the bathroom.

  17. Wow, I can't imagine you would be self-conscious... You are a handsome, funny, intelligent, humble, established man, with a beautiful wife, and gorgeous children - your world is rock solid!!! g You forgot lawyer
  18. Like the IRS, FAA, DHS...? Like the new national healthcare plan... We trust the government to build a democratic nation but healthcare.......way to serious.
  19. Jerky curtains are the bomb - BUT - it is essential that they are accompanied by the 70's porn bush. Jerky curtains + Brazilian = Ghastly
  20. 70's porn bush FTW! Jungle that shit up ladies.
  21. As far as I know (and I may be wrong about this) you don't go to city hall and get a legal union license. You get a marriage license. That is what mine says right on the top. Maybe if we change the name of the license for everyone to a legal union license it would be sufficient to satisfy both sides. If the union is presided over by some religious figure in a church, you have a traditional marriage ceremony. If your ceremony is in Vegas by Elvis or in freefall by me (price of a jump ticket only ) the ceremony itself is called something else, but the legal part of it is exactly the same. Requirements for the legal union would be two people of legal age to enter into the legal union. Gender has no discriminatory basis. Seems rational to me.
  22. 1. $$$, "treatment" for cancer generates a lot more money than would a cure for it. 2. With all the donations people make worldwide(do not have a clue as to exact amount, but imagine the number is huge) to funding cancer research for who knows how long now, no one has found a cure? The government will spend x amount lending to car manufactures but wont lend a fraction of that to investing in scientists currently working on possibly saving many lives of not only citizens but people world wide. For the record. I wish nothing more to find/have a cure. edit: ive had a few drinks so dont expect #2 to make too much sense right now, i will have to correct it in the moning cheers! 1. Not so. A cure would generate far more revenue. Currently there are a number of companies working on developing different scientific platforms for different cancers ( I worked for one ). Its expensive and time consuming. If the products don't work, the company goes out of business and the workers are all unemployed. Treatment options for doctors do not change and the mortality rates for their patients do not change. If there was an actual cure, enormous amounts of the drug would be produced, employing a lot of people. Treatment options for doctors would shift to curing cancer and patients would live much longer making it certain that they would need future treatment for different cancers or medical conditions. If you are old enough to remember a time when robotics were being introduced into american factories, you will remember people screaming that it would put people out of work and cause an economic recession. In fact it had the effect of forcing american workers to the leading edge of computer and robotic technology and was good for the economy. Scientific progress in the realm of medicine is similar. 2. We're getting better, but we are very far from being at the doorstep of a cure for any cancer. There is some promising research being done and some advancements are being made, but we're still a long way off. Please bear in mind that we have yet to able to eradicate the common cold, so cancer is going to be tough.
  23. Marriage used to mean one white man and one white woman. Black and white people could not be legally married. We changed the legal definition of marriage so as not to discriminate based on race. Was that wrong?
  24. What if you are a hermaphrodite? Can you marry yourself and get the extra tax deduction?
