when were you in Iwakuni?

1. AAD 2. Your expecting that your car goes completely straight and the road doesn't curve at all. If you truly do "nothing", then you will not be steering now will ya, which probable means yes you will die. This thread has officially gone completely off topic. 1. If you ever make the decision to rely on your AAD, immediately sell all your gear and buy a bowling ball because skydiving is not for you. 2. How many times have you been in a vehicle when there was a certainty of death? My guess is zero. How many times have you been skydiving when there was a certainty of death? Every time. Its not even comparable and if you can't understand that, I would never want to be in the air with you.

1- Under what circumstances would you expect to jump out of a plane in flight, do nothing and expect to live? 2 - If you are traveling at 160 mph and take your foot off the accelerator, your car will gradually slow to a stop. Not very dramatic.

http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=186056,00.html I'm not sure what is on topic since this thread has gone all over the place, but for your reading pleasure.

You've got to be trolling. You're posting this stuff in multiple threads.

Who Is the Worst U.S. President of the Modern Era?
JohnnyD replied to flyhi's topic in Speakers Corner
"..Terror is bigger than one person..So I don't know where [Bin Laden] is..You know, I just don't spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you. ...I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him." * March 13, 2002 Press Conference at the The James S. Brady Briefing Room - Yeah, he actually said that. I guess people will see and hear what they want to regardless of the facts. -

Obama and the attempt to destroy the Second Amendment
JohnnyD replied to piper17's topic in Speakers Corner
Straight from his website: Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. -
That is very disappointing. Read the entire Declaration of Independence. It is very enlightening as to the situation of the colonists and why they wished to become independent.

I am an atheist who married in a casino in Las Vegas. I have a marriage certificate, not a civil union certificate.

Interesting. No way I would sign off on that, but I also don't live in Alaska.

What's the context? Looks like a who gives a crap moment caught on camera.

I am young and secure enough that my personal opinion is no bailout and no government involvement in the free market. Even if I lost my retirement funds and social security is not there for me (which I am counting on anyway), I can still recover and be just fine, so its much easier for me to seem principled than if my situation were different. As far as the profile, I have addressed the issue before. It used to be filled out completely, but after what happened to PhillyKev and AggieDave, I removed all the information. I think everyone should do the same and if they happen to exchange personal info in PMs or at the dz, thats great. That is just my opinion, but what you type here could very well bite you hard, which would not be right but is nonetheless the reality of posting here.

In a way, you are right. She was not protecting her job, but her license and career. The paramedics had the same response and fortunately, the kid wasn't badly hurt. Interestingly enough, the very same nurse has given minor first aid such as cleaning and bandaging wounds before the person went for stitches, taking temps, watching for dehydration in instructors that had 14 too many, cactus needle removal, etc. It speaks to the reluctance of qualified people to get involved in situations where they can ultimately do more harm to themselves than good for others.

Truth. Now we know why they have been hiding her so much. The vp debate should be a crushing blow.

So is it Clinton's fault or is it the democratic majority of congress that doesn't have the numbers to override a veto or both? Got to be both. Keep going back. I'm sure Carter had something to do with this too, but why stop there? The real root of this problem undoubtedly lands squarely in the lap of FDR.

I do not believe you actually read that.

Not sure what you mean by this reply? In the US, nurses are licensed by the state they work in. Lose your license, lose your job. Many states have reciprocal licensing, which means that your license will be recognized in another state. California and New York are exceptions to this rule, where the requirements are more stringent. To the point, most nurses would never do something knowing that they are putting their license at risk. Example (true story): very hard landing close to manifest and packing area. Jumper is down with obviously broken arm, scraped up, and has hit his head, but not very hard. Some well meaning guys who are not medical professionals start an IV while waiting for the ambulance. I am standing next to a registered nurse and she informs me not to even let anyone know she is a nurse. Wants absolutely nothing to do with the situation. Paramedics arrive to find the jumper in the landing area with an IV. They refuse to even touch him before radioing in and documenting that he already had an IV started because they don't want to be responsible if anything happens. They also refused to take the IV out. They made the guys that started it do it. Summary - I don't think IVs have any place in a dz first aid kit.

As I was watching some news report, a comment was made to the effect that McCain was going to DC to represent the views of the people in Arizona. That sounded quite strange to me, as McCain hasn't really lived in Arizona for nearly 30 years. My next thought was - Why? Why can't senators or us reps do their voting remotely? Seems like it would be a great service to their constituents if they we actually living among and in touch with the needs of the people they are representing. Also, it could serve to greatly decrease the influence of lobbyists and outside interests. Lastly, we wouldn't have to listen to how candidate x is going to "clean up washington" anymore.

Question about the Electoral College System
JohnnyD replied to ianmdrennan's topic in Speakers Corner
Admit it - you walked down the hall and asked a poly sci prof. -
So you feel the president was wrong for meeting with foreign heads of state today?
-
Absolutely, just heard a senator on CNN saying the republicans are intentionally holding up the process.

Guess you have them right where you want them.
