A wise man once told me that discretion is something you can never be accused of having too much of.
-
Agreed, so keep it off the internet.
-
Are you going to hit me with your keyboard? Seriously, you're the one talking the big game. What's the story here? What did the guy do? You're the one declaring and act worthy of NJB has occured and you're going to deliver an ass kicking. So what does one have to do to be worthy of such an effort?
-
Brilliant. Please let us all know what this egregious infraction was. Certainly befitting of your time and effort to proclaim on an internet forum that you intend to assault this person over it. It must be horrible.
-
I have yet to see that this guy has done anything at all other than being f.o.s. As a CO, if your friend tried to address every situation of this ilk, he would need to be cloned 300 times over just to handle it, let alone be expected to accomplish anything remotely productive. I'm seriously hoping there is something more to this than a guy running off at the mouth.

There aren't any. The stolen valor act was put through and signed in 2005. I'm not sure about this one from 2007. I know violations of the stolen valor act are misdemeanors.
-
Has anyone been charged with that act? Yes, but very few. Generally, the cases have involed someone who is passing themselves off as a wounded veteran for personal gain (ie: free luxury box tickets to sporting events; charitable donations; things like that). FWIW - The guys I know wouldn't waste their time on guys like this unless it somehow effected them directly.
-
Absolutely.

If the strawman was eating a red herring pie while climbing the slippery slope of authoritarian appeal and a tree fell in speakers corner would anyone hear it? No, and it doesn't matter anyway because it is 's fault. Hitler./thread

Wow..... two thoughts that is kick ass and that is sad I know different people who are contractors that would fit into both of those categories.

Sounds like MFG1: a.) Can't meet the needs of the sponsored jumper b.) Has shitty disgruntled employees - possible correlation between the two? Sounds like sponsored jumper: a.) Has a sponsor unable to supply him with what he needs b.) Is willing to find a sponsor who can Conclusion: If you can't take care of your customers, there are plenty of other people who can.

Side note: I found that kind of funny. With that many kids, the control factor is quite diminished. At least that was my experience with a childhood friend that came from a very large family.

Tax cheats beware: IRS buying sawed-off shotguns

You think? Try not paying your taxes. Do you think they'll send you to the bank? -
Tax cheats beware: IRS buying sawed-off shotguns
JohnnyD replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
The IRS collects taxes. They send out nasty letters, garnish paychecks, place levies on homes, and seize expensive cars. At what point during their tax collection duties do they send men armed with sawed-off shotguns? I thought they killed people with accountants, not with 12-gauge double-ought buck shot. Really? So you're now pro gun control and pro sending federal agents to seize property and fugitives unarmed? You build cases with accountants. Field agents carry weapons. Sometimes bean counters are also field agents. -
Get into a training group. The information you can get from those things is invaluable. Good luck.

It'd be bad form not to stop in at Skoog's if you're in Utica. They still trout lining carp across from the Rock? I hear the carve up those chubs and serve them on carved out rocks. Utica clam shooters! Goes good with Burgoo.

Illinoisans: Do you have property available for hunting coyotes?
JohnnyD replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
Any solution must first and foremost address the behavior of the people surrounding the area. Other than that, it's specific to the situation. Based on Randy's friends situation your solution would be? If you look above, you will see the most important part of the solution. Anything more is armchairing something I don't have enough knowledge of to inteligently comment on. Some things that come to mind: N. Illinois is extremely varied in terms of population density and lifestyle. If the coyotes are actually being fed by people, I would guess this is some sort of greenbelt or open space that adjoins a populated area instead of sparsely populated communities. Local gov't and LEO needs to be involved in educating and correcting the behavior of these people and they need to come up with a plan. If you make the decision to start blasting away, how is that going to be received in the community? How do you do it to minimize the horrified civilian effect? How do you make sure none of the people who are ignorant enough to try to feed a coyote end up on an evening stroll during a planned harvest? I don't have an answer to any of these questions or even know if they are applicable. What you just can't help but come back to is that the most important part of any viable solution is addressing the behavior of the people surrounding the affected area. To do that, you have to start with local gov't and LEO. After that, who knows. -
Not too hard to put two and two together on that one. I've got a few of my own, but I would never post them. On the other hand, if you're willing to put it out there you shouldn't be surprised.

Allow me to paste my last post: Any solution must first and foremost address the behavior of the people surrounding the area. Other than that, it's specific to the situation. You seem to be hell bent that shooting is the primary solution to the problem. It's not. Simply passing laws accomplishes nothing. They must be enforced. That is a key component to a true solution. Side note: there is a difference between being ignorant and being stupid.
