From the Paragear Cameye II listing: I think the Cameye II has blue lights, and I thought the original Cameye only had a light, without a toggle switch. Can anyone confirm? BASE 1384

1st jump and nope. I was a packer for a year prior to jumping though. Get with someone and learn your gear. If you know your gear well, there is no reason to be afraid. BASE 1384

A stupid question and showing ignorance on my behalf. I assume that when the person cuts away and swings under the belay point a fair amount of strain will be exerted on the chest strap? If that is the case are they safely rated for that type of loading as I am guessing it will be tending to pull inwards and upwards (towards the persons chin). In a similar vein do you need to perform any extra checks on the chest strap prior to suspending your weight from it? Its probably not the best idea, but it would probably work. Personally, I would try and use webbing or a daisy chain and run it through my legstraps, then behind my chest strap. Then the chest strap keeps you head high, and the load is on the legstraps. Not having nearly the experience level of others in this conversation, I can only contribute an engineer's take, and that is that the orientation of the tail has more influence than the orientation of the nose. It's the tail that inflates first, no? And the nose last? In BASE jumping, we use a tailgate in order to force the nose to inflate before the tail. When the tail is allowed to inflate before the nose (especially with no slider), lineovers are much more common. I cant say for sure in skydiving, but I think the nose is supposed to inflate first. Looking over downtown from the top of a building you are about to jump off of is one of the coolest things in the world. (Obviously a lot cooler if you jump with a parachute and not a "touristy" kind of ride) BASE 1384 -
I has this type of fittings on all my rigs and never had a leg strap slip. Sparky http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp55/mjosparky/Quickejectsnap.jpg http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp55/mjosparky/Snapv-ring.jpg I was snapping my B-12's up the other day and someone said, ~that's a neat idea...when did they come out with those? Wow. BASE 1384

Only if you define "great marketing" as "getting people to talk about your company". But the question is, has all that talk led to an increase in sales? That's the true end goal of marketing... Getting a buzz off a print ad means that your product is standing out. Lets face it, nobody is going to shell out thousands of dollars just because they saw a funny advertisement in a magazine. However, good marketing makes your product stick out in the consumers mind. This will hopefully lead to the consumer taking a closer look at your product when they are in the market (for say, a new rig!) BASE 1384

I wouldnt hold my breath for the city of Cleveland to be "classy". This is the same city that chucked hundreds of beer bottles onto the field at a Browns game. I hope everyone stays semi responsible, but a part of me is hoping lebrons powder throwing routine gets interrupted by a half eaten hot dog. BASE 1384

I wounder why they thought tandem systems were the best way to go? A bike doesnt weigh that much. BASE 1384

I know its not the answer you are looking for, but you need to be prepared for a decently long road of recovery. Do the time, dont skimp on rehabbin, and get back to the sport when you are healed. I seriously doubt the type of anesthesia will effect your recovery time. Especially compared to the quality of rehab. Of course I am not a doctor. But I have had 2 dislocations and then surgery. Overall, it really sucks but you will be thankful when you are healed up. BASE 1384

Unnecessary asshole replies like this are why many many people I jump with refuse to post on this site. What is it about the anonymity of the internet that brings out the worst in otherwise decent people? He isn't posting anonymously. He also isn't an otherwise decent person! BASE 1384
