  1. I have been flying in Switzerland and france for the past 2 years and have never had a problem with not haveing a paragliding license. As long as you are not in the wrong places at the resorts it is open to do what you want.
  2. http://www.skydiveinterlaken.ch/content/default.asp?txtLangID=3
  3. As others have said get alot more skydiving done. you should be able to hit the pea every time in all winds. A spectra is ok but a heavy canopy. So you wIll need a nice head wind. I would recomend doing heeps Of ground handling. Get your canopy out on flat ground. and learn to reverse launch and get the canopy over your head with your eyes closed anD keep it up without having to look at it. That is the most important part for you now. my .02 Also watch lots of videos of ground handeling and flying so you can see what your getting into. Here is my video from flying in the French Alps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y__tioyyo4Q Have fun start slow and get lots more skydiving done first.
  4. I was not useing the car example for the protection side but the supply/ demand to price. read the post before mine and you will see that as well as my post never said the sports car out performes anything. s/d=$£ usefull for distribution
  5. It is always entertaining. You either want the gear or you dont if you dont want to spend money dont. All sports are expensive when your life body and mind are on the line. Go cheap you get cheap you buy from larg companies you can get better prices as they sell more goods. You want the name from a small company you will have to pay more. Asking on a forum why a helmet is expensive you will get the same as why is a top end sports car expensive. Exclusive companies that do not sell that much product need to get money to cover the cost to make and market. Manufacturing in this case isd not the expensive part it is the marketing and lack of sales. Blue skies have fun jumping or writing.
  6. Good stuff I just like the dramazone and everyone who is in the office not jumping and with their great opinions. God I love going out jumping. Oh ya it is night in europe so done jumping. Be back for more tomorrow after jumping.
  7. Where you going with that answer Pro Tec is made in China.
  8. If so whats the point of manufacturing them? Looks? If so why doesn't a skydiving just start a brand that looks good with no protectin and half the price. They would take over the market. Helmets are not rocket science to make. So many complain about the price. I say quit complaining or do something. No?
  9. The cheap ones take alot less impact then the expensive ones thats why there cheap. They will work good for the bumps and bruses but not a hard hit. They are not mad to take mass impact.
  10. Im with you on this. music for some helps as I have said in my first post on this subject. When shit hits the fan for me and I get scared I turn the tunes up and do what I know I can not not think too much and make it harder.
  11. That is true to an extent. But if you buy a cheep used helmet you dont know if it has taken a hit or not. One hit on a cheep pro tec and they are done. I love pro tec I am sponsored by them but if I go down once and the helmet takes the smallest hit I get a new one as they loose there straingth and protection. I would never go cheep on a helmet they have saved my life at least 3 times. (not skydiving but skiing skating wakeboarding)
  12. I psycho packed for about 100 jumps but am a packer and only did it with my own rig till I had a really bad opening. All the packs I do for others open great so quit doing for my jumps. if you know how to pack it is not needed. just from my own experience.
  13. Skydiving with music is probibly not a good idea but I always listen to music when I am speedriding. Not on launch I like to hear my canopy open but turn it up once I am flying. For me it keeps me from thinking too much and lets me ski and fly like I know how to and when I get scared I turn it all the way up to block out my thoughts and let the body do what it knows how to.
  14. I have been speedriding or GL for the past year a few hundred flights. A reserve is not trimed enough. you can pick up an old stilleto for cheep they are the best canopies for learning on and they are everywhere. here is a video I shot this winter on a stilleto http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y__tioyyo4Q Be carful learn to ground handel really well first
  15. We also jump the AN-2 in Sweden. Great plane but slow. Give lots of time for shit talking on the way up.
  16. Well alot of the "100 jump wonders" use this forum to learn about skydivning and lately the info is bitching. complaining and strait out shit talking. That is not helping people learn or is that how you learn to skydive In My AFF I was not tought that. I was tought to ask questions and get info that will help out to get better. But maybe AFF in Sweden is not up to par.
  17. I think thats what he is talking about. Who cares about your profile. It is not an american thing but come on jump numbers do not dictate everything in your skydiving. There is starting to get less and less useful info on the forums and more trash talking and shooting the other person down. If you dont want to help dont say anything if you do help with USEFULL advise.
  18. What were you expecting with a thread like this? some simpathy. come on quit your complaining and just go jump or stay in the office.
  19. thanks I am looking for info for bagging speedriding wings. Ozone 12m
  20. Thanks for the link. I have spoken to many paraglide pilots on dbagging but they do not have much if any experience in the opening of a small wing and there packing is much different as there are lots more lines and split a risers to deal with. Thanks for the info anyways every bit helps on this as it looks like not many people have experience in this for of deployment
  21. I am looking for some info on D bagging hp canopies at sub terminal speeds. Balloons, heli, paraglider. 1. Possible opening problems 2. packing 3. personal experience 4. any other useful info on the subject Thanks
  22. I have done a few jumps with this method. I keep the flag baged to the calf and shoe. held with a cutaway cable then just pull the cutaway and conect to a loop below my riser that a rigger put on for me. I like this way as you can freefall the system and if the wind is bad or a bad spot you do not have to use the flag and it wont get in the way.
  23. a stilleto 120 is one of the best canopies to learn on if you are a skydiver. if you are a paraglider a nano or bullet is a good option. the canopies built from paraglide compaines are much different then skydive canopies they have trimers and you would want to stay off the risers as they colaps much easyer with too much imput from the risers.
  24. Wes Thanks for all the fun in tahoe. After my mom came out on a jump with us to watch it got her hucked and she plans to jump this summer. Tahoe jumping will never be the same without you on the lake loads. to the rest at skydive tahoe thanks as well and i will be back in the early summer to play. Blue skies miss you all and was see you when I out your way. Justin
