  1. I would think it is possible but you have to consider how it is done. If the opening main can rip the padding out it might be a problem. The manufacturer might not approve, but I would still check with them first. René
  2. This came up as a question reading the thread "collapsing your slider". I always secure my slider behind my neck with a velcro fastener on the suit. It is not held very hard. I have never had to cut away but wonder if anyone has any experience of this, has it ever happened that the canopy dosn't come loose? René
  3. If you trade in an old Cypres for a new one there will be a small discount. They don't want to offer a large discount because it will seem unfair on those who sold theirs cheaply because they were close to twelve years. (This information came from Kai Koerner Airtec). René
  4. Thanks guys, it is finished now, looks good. I haven't tried it yet but I will. And yes I do have a riggers cert. and doing things like this helps me learn about the equipment. René
  5. I'm trying to build a new PC, slightly smaller than my old worn one. It seem that the old one has a bigger top skin than mesh. (It goes around the corner, so to speak) This is very hard to sow, so I don´t think I'll try that. The question is, how are they normally made? The one that I'm looking at might be out of shape. Thanks René
  6. I'm about your size and used as much as 18-20 pounds when doing 4-way. One of the guys on the team was a lot bigger than me. It does affect the canopy but not radically. I don't think you should need that much weight though, especially if you get a belt, which I think has several advantages.( I wear a vest, not so comfortable) René
  7. "what would be a minimum altitude to cut away from a downplane. " If the canopies are clear of each other and you go into a downplane at a low altitude, cut away as long as you have time to plan out. About the same altitude that a hook turn is done would be the absolute minimum. I've seen video of someone landing a downplane and it did not look nice, he did live though. René
  8. Try just pressing the glass( from the outside ), it should come lose. René
  9. Yes, they are the same for changing the glass. I think you call them Alen or hex screws. Here they deliver Barigo alt. with a velcro strap that goes around your hand and thumb which leaves the 0 at 12 o'clock, with a ring mount I would also turn it 45 degrees. René
  10. "...a way to make the openings a little slower so that if a freeflier has'nt slowed down yet it won't kill them." Interesting, does this mean that you would pack differently for someone who mainly does RW? René
  11. Alan, the FXC 12000 units that we have in Sweden do not need to be re-cocked after low pulls. This is after the latest modification ( J ). There might be a difference since we live in different countries but you should be able to get the same type of upgrade as we have. My information comes from Paramecanic in Sweden who has been serving FXC units (and others) for as long as they have been around. Otherwise great information as usual. Sincerely René
  12. I have my pro-dytter at 4000, 3000 and 1500. I usually only raise the break off altitude if I'm doing big ways and I've hardly ever heard the flatline. René
  13. A friend of mine lost his freebag recently and got a new one (for his Wings) I packed it and it was a real strong spring. Stronger than the old one, but even with the older one I wouldnt worry. René
  14. I have read good reviews of both the Crossfire and the Cobolt, but how do compare ?(flying, landings, etc.) I know crossfire has had some problems, but I'm counting on Icarus to have solved them. Also comparisons to airlocked canopies (samurai, vengence) would be of interest. Thanks!
