Working on my 'A' at The Farm in Georgia
jbanning replied to markph's topic in Introductions and Greets
Is DZ Chad still there, he is tall, skinny with long blond hair? -
At jump 12 I started jumping a Diablo 190 and could not figure out accuracy with it, I was always landing away from the intended target. At jump 30, I actually upsized to a Sabre 230, and love it i now land within a few feet of the peas every time. Its all about coming in slower and judging the glide characteristics, I also believe confidence is a big factor!

Snapped both my Brake lines!
jbanning replied to Dangerousmind86's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I fly a sabre and i have found out with mine that if the nose isn't rolled and tuck way back in it opens very hard, its a charactersitic of the canopy. I have never flown a sabre 2 but I would assume it would be about the same! -
Charge it, thats what credit cards are for!

I think we have one of the smallest landing zones in the US, i frequently land on the grass runway, but then I also suck under canopy. I killed a metal windsock pole a few months back and was fortunate to walk away with minor injuries!

Pulling High - A Discussion for Students
jbanning replied to GreatGigInThSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have pulled @ 11,500 to work on skill....its too cold up there! -
I wasn't trying to attack you, sorry if it came off that way. I might only have 28 jumps, but I have packed close to 100 times....Good luck
-
Thank you thats all I was trying to point out!!!! For the record, I DO NOT KNOW IT ALL.....Smeone on here sent me a pm attacking me saying I think I know it all and I'm gonna die.....lol
-
What I meant was it all depends on how it is packed, and the characteristics of the canopy. My Diable has takan 1200' to open and has opened as quickly as 600', it depends on what you do with the slider, nose when packing. Yes @ 28 jumps with 17 packing I do have an idea on how MY canopy opens!

another unethical dz website

Yes, I found it, you have to hit select all. How did you know to look? -
It is not a question that can be answered, obviously, you re not packing your own canopy!

St. Pattty's Day -
Look at the statistics, people are NOW dying under functioning canopies. How many skydivers have died because of an AAD misfire, no fire or a malfunctioning rsl or skyhook lately. The sport has evolved and skydivers have evolved with it. Smaller, faster canopies. The EXPERIENCED skydivers are the one's killing themselves with low hookturns......5 deaths this week all under canopy, freefall accidents do happen but are MUCH less frequent.

Possible to Have Fast Yet Soft Openings?
jbanning replied to somethinelse's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My Diablo 190 opens soft as hell, but it has also eaten up close to 1300' before, I think also the amount of jumpa a cnaopy has on it can be a slight factor also, and stowing of slider and also what you do with the nose. -
What makes someone pick the place to make thier first jump?
jbanning replied to Fast's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
SKYDIVE TAMPA BAY!!!! Just got lucky and have stayed there since. Small DZ with family atmosphere and the most fun I have ever had! -
Technically the term is reflectance..................Electromagnectic radiation that is stored through the product of absorption by objects on the earth which in turn released which become exitence energy. simple physics.....lol

I know a few people with 3000+ with no cutaways!!!........it is not always a given!
-
The A usually oral isn't it. Its just basic skills and malfunction knowledge along with spotting, etc......

The owner of my DZ is a master rigger and I brought this question up to him and he purchased the cypres2 for me, he said it would be the smartest investment.
-
I have a 95 J2 it is on the right!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I am not an expert but you cant go wrong with a cypres2. No battery to replace, only serviced every 4 years. It is the ADD with the most precedence

It was a c182 I was watching from the ground. The story I got was the JM was out of the plane an the studendnt was attempting his first dive out exit. LUCKILY the pilot saw the bag on the floor as he student started to leap and reacted! The pilot chut fortunately must have come out as the back hit the relative wind preventing a horseshoe. Th skydiver is big, I do not mean fat, he is a very fit bodybuilder. He said his arm got caught uo in the line twist, he calmly freed his arm and kicked out of the twist. He didn't realize anything was wrong until his canopy started opening. This was only his 7th jump. It was the best scenario that could have played out, quick thinking on the pilots part prevented a very bad siutation from escalating. The winds were not bad he landed in the LZ, he was wearing a radio!

Yesterday we had an aff student which is a big guy, rub his rig on the pilots seat in a c182, it popped the pin and the dbag fell out. The pilot (which is a VERY experienced skydiver) saw it as he he exited and tossed it out behind him. Needless to say other than a few line twists he got a 10,000 foot canopy ride. This was probably the best scenario that could arise from an incident like that. The closing loop was properly adjusted, it does not take much to pop the pin it it is hit at the right angle!

Its 60 bucks and 2 weeks down time to get it serviced @ alti-2, is your life worth it. It says in the manual if dropped do not use!
