  1. I had so much trouble w iLife I ended up going with Final Cut Express. It was only $150 and you get so many more options it will pay for itself the first time you fire it up. "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  2. Help! I just had my new system delivered and am having some problems that I am hoping you guys can help me with. I purchased two HDR-HC9's and Cookie's box for the HC-5/7/9. Now that I have all my components together I cannot figure out how to get the camera into the box with the Hypoxic Cam-eye plugged in. The door position on the camera (the one that hides the attachment) points wont even stay open while in the box. Do I need to scrap this idea and go back to the drawing board or is there a fix I dont know about...Please help! I cant seem to figure out a way to post the pictures of the problem here, but this is a short slideshow of the components and the problem. http://s411.photobucket.com/albums/pp193/Armymedic_bucket/?albumview=slideshow "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  3. To me, it looked like a bit of "I crush your formation...I crush your formation!" I was actually helping you turn the Stack Leader's back to the target....just doing my part! "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  4. I use a 10mm for stills when flying tandems...adds a GREAT curved earth effect "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  5. Too many to count...but here is a link to some of mine! These we all from the same weekened, but I guess I just had good luck for once! http://s411.photobucket.com/albums/pp193/Armymedic_bucket/KSC Space%and%Airshow/?albumview=slideshow "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  6. The three jumpers in the photos were SFC Jarrett, SGT Walker, and of course Max... That reflection shot was one of my favorites...I suppose it just goes to show that if you are in the right place, at the right time, enough times () you might actually get a "keeper" of a shot! 7. Think it depends on who your CD is and how seriously you take the course...like anything else, you can simply meet the standards or fight to exceed them. Kip Lohmiller exceeded every stadnard in both training and testing and expects the same of his candidates. At our course there was a 64% pass rate so he certainly does not give anything away... Again, I think it depends on your course director... "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  8. I only have personal expirience with one CD and I would reccomend him to anyone, that is Kip... He is very hard but fair, but works closly with each studient to focus on thier strengths. He teaches very well during the precourse and is entirely approachable throughout the entire course. He certainly makes you earn your rating during the eval however and several people did not pass the course. this proves that he does not give ratings away and sets the bar very high for AFF-I's Kip Lohmiller has my reccomendation as a fantastic course director. 9. That is what we had tried, but like you said, if the canopies go to far, they turn to a downplane and the tension gets intense. Will try to have one guy hold grips while the other steers and then grip switch... Thanks! "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  10. We are interested in putting together some side-by-side and tri-by-side's but as of right now we do not have any straps. We do a ton of biplanes and down-planes, but when-ever we try a side-by-side it ends up rolling over to a down plane. Does anyone have any suggestions as how to get the canopies side-by-side without straps? We have tried a few leg locks, but nothings seems to work well... "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  11. Working on a "custom" UPT Tandem video (Sigma) that basically uses the Bill Booth intro and waiver explanation, but then sub-ing in a Tandem Expirence as done by our Team instead of the Ron Regan Jr. piece. Does anyone know the best way to bring the ISO file into Premier and make it editable, or worst case, make the ISO file a Window's Media file (don't know the extention for that) Thanks! Wings

My personal rig is unfortunatly NOT a wings...but my next one will be! We use Wings exclusivly on our Demo Team, and I would recommend them to anyone for any discipline
  13. Max- it was great to see you on all the news, but even better was that shirt you were wearing- Very Nice! "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  14. yup...that was it! Backlight feature was on, turned it off and have flown everything from from first lift through sunset loads and it works great...thanks for all the tips! "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  15. Did a dumb thing and pull it out of the box, mounted it and flew it for some semi-high vis tandems...looking at the manual now! "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  16. See- i learn something new everyday! now if you can only help me with my exposure problems on the video camera, I will forever be in your debt! I got the advice for the P setting from our Public Affairs Officer here on Ft. Campbell and they obviously shoot stuff on the ground. I have had decent luck with it, but some of the shots (1:10) were blurry.. I will try and this and see how it works! Thank you for the advise...that is what I love about this sport, you learn something new every day! "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  17. Just bought a new DCR-HC32 (Sony) Monday and shot some tandems with it for the first time yesterday with mixed results. Camera worked fine, no problems with dropping frames during recording and the Cam Eye worked great (that was the problem with the old 110). My only issue is that most of the vids I shot yesterday seemed really "bleached" and the white balance is pretty far off. It was a hazy day so the sky was pretty bland instead of a brilliant blue, but even when the pair were in the door of the Blackhwawk (I was rear float) the student's face was totally blanched out (even more than normal ) I havent read the manual yet but there has to be a way to change the exposure levels and/or iris stuff. Does anyone have any knowledge of this they can share? (I was re-recording over an old mini-DV and using a 0.7 wide angle lens) "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  18. We just bought a Sony DCR-HC32 that has a LANC port. Only used it for one day of Tandem's but it seems to work okay (see new thread re: over exposure). But if I remember right, the HC 32 and 42 both have LANC ports. "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  19. do it quite often- no problems what so ever. If I am shooting stills only I will take the side mount video cam off to save weight on my neck. I have not noticed any increase in pulling or whistling noise (but I do wear earplugs) "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  20. on the Screaming Eagels Parachute Team's Rebel XTi I use: the P setting on the dial, ISO of 200, AI Focus, Evaluative Metering, and of course it is set to shoot multiple pics for as long as I hold the bite switch...But just play with the settings and find what works best for you. I still use the 18-55mm lens that came with it and use a retaining band to ensure that the zoom lens does not spin in freefall. "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  21. We just had the same problem with our 110 and we sent it into Sony for work. It cost us $250.00 to replace a "chip" and we were without our camera for over two weeks. If some of these home made repairs work for you then by all means do them instead of going through the hassle with sony! "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  22. Well that makes me feel really good about the $250 the shop charged us! Thanks for the tips and we will ensure that the repair crew hears about it from us! "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  23. HAHA! I agree that Military smoke stains your gear...We jump smoke all the time and we use M18 smoke grenades on an ankle bracket with quick release. My black jump suit has green, red, and yellow stains on the leg and the white stripes on the grippers are now PINK! We also find that the "slag" or chunks of debris that comes off the smoke will burn your suit or rig if you are trying to backslide. The white smoke screen stuff burns SUPER hot and one of our guys suffered some impressive burns on his leg through a cordura suit. We have jumped the skydiver smoke, and while it is not as impressive as an M18, it is safer, cooler, and we do not worry about burning the canopies or jumpers with it. My opinion, use the skydiver smoke, it is not as impressive, but it is safer, and that is one less thing to worry about "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  24. We always have a ground crew but we jump at a lot of non-established DZ's for training so we used a bunch of unfamiliar areas. The days in question winds at 1000ft were around 20kts (10-15 on the ground) and the canopies drifted over a mile from 2000ft. All the GC in the world cannot accuratly track a canopy that far, especially considering they drifted over a residential area... "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
  25. We started having a problem with our Sony PC110 this week. It just came back from Sony after getting the LANC chip replaced (Cam Eye Port). Now the camera will not fire up, and when it does it will shut itself down after a few seconds. It seems to be hit and miss wether it will fire up at all. It has been on the charger for hours, and even when I put a new battery on it that does not help. I am not getting any error messages, it just does not want stay on! Has anyone had this problem and been able to fix it, or have any ideas? I have tried the reset button and scrolled through the menu, all to no avail...Please help! "This is better than sex, and cheaper too!"
