GoPro specs out minimum class 4 SD card. In other words what speed is the SD card you are using? I just worked with a friends GoPro HD he just bought but the card he ordered (class 6) from another vendor was not in yet so we used my class 2 card to check out the unit and after copying to PC and playing back we experienced the same issues you are. After rendering the file in Vegas 9 it played perfect. I asked my friend if his class six card came in but have not heard back. My thoughts that night were that the class 2 card we had to try out had write speeds that may have been too slow? Just my initial thoughts. Without testing with the faster card on the same camera I can not say for sure if that was what we had run into. John Maggio

There are many many dvd players out there that only play DVD-R type discs. DVD players (the one for the TV) are still being sold new today that do not play DVD+R. The burner speed (16x) seems to give me more problems so I have slowed the burn speed down to 4x or 8x and that seems to help with the disc holding up better / longer. As far as hanging... up does it do this when watching final product on computer after being rendered on the computer? If so than resources (shut down all programs etc..other than what you need for DVD) and try again John Maggio

I have converted old VHS tapes through my video camera and it works fine but is time consuming. The easiest / quickest way I have found to back up all my old VHS tapes is by using a combo DVD burner VHS unit I purchased a couple months ago. Simply put in the blank DVD and source VHS tape and record from tape to DVD. You can even add from different tapes and edit out junk you dont want. Until you finalize the disc you can keep adding to it. It even has fire wire input on front. then if you want to copy on PC for later editing etc you put DVD into PC and use software to rip to HDD. I bought a Toshiba D-VR3 from B&H photo for $350 specs here http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/dvr/product.asp?model=d-vr3 There are other Manufactures out there to choose from. Good luck John Maggio

Andy, I have experienced a similar banding on my epson 2200 and it was when I forgot to select edge smoothing. (just cant' remember if it was horizontal or vertical?) Using glossy or premium luster paper. etc. this may or may not fix it. Also if the printer came with film factory this program lets you easily size the picture to the 4x6 or 8x10 or various sizes and also some minor adjustments. Not nearly as much as photoshop but good for light edits John Maggio

Vegas 4.0 and DVD architect 1.0 is a great editing software and DVD authoring software that I have been using for awhile now and is very powerful and easy to use. If you are a student or teacher you can pick it up for under $300 for both otherwise it is around $800.(Free demo download available http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/download/default.asp) The original company who wrote the program was Sonic Foundry and they were bought out last year by Sony. There are also as you can see by searching these posts many other great software for capturing and editing video that are more or less expensive than Vegas! I have had the Epson 2200 for about 2 months now and the main reason I went with the 2200 over the 1280 was the ink cartridge set up. It has 7 individual ink cartridges so when the light magenta runs out you are only replacing that color and not throwing away anything other than the empty cartridge. If I understand the Epson 1280 it has a black cartridge and a color cartridge with all the color inks in one container. I guess if you run out of a particular color and have to change the cartridge you may be throwing away ink still in there from the other colors. On the 2200 I will go through 3 or 4 light magenta to one magenta and 2 or 3 light cyan to 1 cyan and 2 light black to 1 black and so on. The extra $250.00 hardware cost spent on the 2200 should be made up with ink savings over the life of the printer I have roughly come up with a 1.1 cent per square cost for full color photo prints. 8x10=80 sq. x 1.1=$88 cents ink cost for the 8 x 10 print. I bought the 2200 for $600.00 including shipping Both models have excellent quality prints. John Maggio

Actually Dave although I did not state this on my original posts to try and avoid all these arguments about personal preferences to gear choices etc. I would ALWAYS SET MY CYPRESS TO A LOWER FIRING ALTITUDE THAN THE DEFAULT!...Now I am sure to be once again damned by many of you who know what is right for me and everyone because it is right for them! I don't jump a cypress anymore because the manufacturer played their little marketing games with everyone after they became the AAD of choice and then released the OH YEA THEY WON"T BE ANY GOOD AFTER 10..UH I MEAN 12 YEARS-para-phrased...SO WE CAN SELL EVERYONE NEW ONES$$$. I remember all the significant numbers people came up with after the 911 tragedy and i guess we can all come up with various altitude scenarios that can justify setting the activation altitude either higher or lower or whatever. Yep Diamond .3 is da bomb. from .3 to about a .6 setting is available range for jumping. You essentially have all the lenses from .3 to .6 by simple using the zoom to which one you want (field of view) If you want to use it for ground video it is good to but...you can't use it to zoom in past about 20% of the zoom bar (past .6) other wise it looses focus and goes blurry. If you want a .6 sony lens i have no need for it anymore....$20.00 John Maggio
