with students, as the OP is, you need not worry about this as you would be using an RSL. i was wondering, is it mandatory for students to fly an RSL or is that just something most DZ's do for added safety. i've heard of students cutting away and then not pulling the reserve expecting it to deploy and going in so RSL's seem like a damned good idea while you're learning.

I saw the movie for the first time just after I posted. Yes, the movie is much better than the book. Why? Because it is what it is, a good bubblegum story with intrigue, huge chase scenes, and a French hottie. IT'S NOT FUCKING ATLAS SHRUGGED, PEOPLE! you're the first person i've come across that thinks the movie is better than the book. in fact, you're the first person that i've ever heard say a movie was better than its book.

searched with no luck. i'm sure it's been posted before but i couldn't find it. why does the army use round canopies? there has to be a good reason cause control and landing sure as hell isn't fun from what i can see.

unfortunately there is nothing to prevent the macho's of this world. not enough people skydive so the general public doesn't care much. take cars for example. here in aus we have states that limit which cars students can use. it also places limits beyond the normal 18 or 21 ages. so if i'm 24 and want a V8 powered car or a turbo powered one etc i can not legally own one or drive one. the provision is up to 25 years old. anyway, my point is cars on the road affect everyone so the general public votes and supports laws like this where up there in the sky no one really cares what you do. if there were laws (not recommendations that mean jack shit) that prevent wing loading we would see a drop in fatalities and injuries. -

as always the book is better. the movie was rushed and didn't have the same pace as the book. on the book itself, it is one of the worst cases of poorly written work that the masses consume with avid enthusiasm. hey even i enjoyed it but i must admit it was poorly written.

i can relate. with me it was more the case of if it looks weird i won't try it but i've been more adventurous lately. -
all i can say is the rich and powerful in your country are bending you over one by one and giving it to you without lube. this is just one example. hope you enjoy it.
