    Merry Christmas

    Merry Xmas from Sydney
  2. i dont get what you mean but if you're asking me why i posted this here then no this isn't an xbox forum, nor is the game an xbox game but it does have to do with base jumping in a relative way thus i felt it was fine to post here. if i'm wrong a mod will slap me on the wrist and life will move on for all concerned. have a merry xmas
  3. i guess the most sought after question would be 'is there life after death' ie. does heaven and hell exist. but that's a waste of a question since heaven and hell is a man made idea thus utter bs. my q would be, are we the only planet with conscious life on it?
  4. last week i read a statistic that said skydiving and skiing both have on average 35 fatalities a year. don't know how accurate that is and it could have been limited to the states only.
  5. nah you're not the only one. just give it a go though. gl and welcome :)
  6. i'm a newb so don't blame me if this is wrong but tunnel time is not necessary. it would help but from what i know you do not need it. welcome btw :)
  7. a bit of a fun video i found searching for base jumps on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Cu2im8N8yI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRMAaY1J3Yo&mode=related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sFtPk-aJ40&mode=related&search= edit: add a couple more.
  8. how are you traveling bill? best wishes for the holiday season
  9. funny you mention that but this morning i borrowed a yoga dvd and had my first session. that stuff is pretty hard. it highlights how unflexible a person can be. thanks for your words, it's encouraging.
  10. hehe nice thread. something to look forward to for us newbies anyway. i've spent about a grand to do half my AFF and then stop. starting again in a couple of weeks. what i was mainly posting for is to ask why i haven't seen some of you add beer purchases??? i thought this was a real tradition in skydiving hum?
  11. i recall my first jump vividly. i was so wired i went back up for a second jump asap. for the next few days i was buzzing but the surprising thing was i was hurting real bad. i mean every single muscle and to be honest it felt like my bones were hurting. i was a walking wreck. have to admit i was really out of shape at the time.

  17. wind tunnel sounds like a great idea but i'm not sure if there are any in Sydney. i'll ask around the DZ.
  18. ahum she asked god for breasts and he obliged yet on the same day hundreds if not thousands of people praying for their life to be spared from some disease were left hanging. nice one g man. btw g can i have a blowjob from julia roberts this newy years please? no?
  19. so i took the plunge and booked in for my AFF course again. i did 5 jumps in 2001 and stopped but never stopped thinking about it. it's funny how when someone mentions it i rattle on for minutes until i can spot the pained bored expression on their face. it's your fault for mentioning skydiving around me! shut up and listen now! well, my latest victim was my cousin. after our conversation when she went home i couldn't stop thinking about it. i realised that even though i only did 5 jumps i did miss it and i am in a better position to complete the course and continue diving this time around. so last night i logged on to my local DZ's site over at Picton, Australia maaate! and booked myself in for 6th Jan. i'm sure there are a few Pictonites on here so if you read this and happen to be at the DZ on 6th or 7th Jan please come and say hi to me. i'm a skinny (like Olive from Popeye skinny), dark brown haired twenty something year old male. probably scared. most likely excited. definately keen as mustard. cheers
  20. thanks for your replies. my impression before even going for a jump was that strength shouldn't be that imparative to the sport so i was surprised at the time. i guess i might have been too rigid and with good reason, i was falling towards the earth very fast. i will report how i go after a few jumps. hopefully it is just a matter of getting comfortable up there.
  21. just went through all the pics in this thread and this one struck me as very nice. cheers
  22. hi all i'm a newb and need some advice please. 5 years ago i began my AFF and stopped 5 jumps in. there was 3 things that contributed to me giving up. 1 was i running out of money, 2 was a death at my dz on the weekend of my planned 6th jump and 3 was my 5th jump. i don't know if i was having a bad day or what but i found out that manouvering in freefall took a fair bit of strength which i don't have much of. it might have been my perception but there is obviously lots of resistance up there in freefall right? i'm fairly weak and skinny at 130 odd pounds. i forget my height but i'm around 166 from memory. anyway, i'm really keen to get back in to it and i don't want to feel limited in regards to my strength. what kind of weight training, which muscle groups, are of most benifit so i can concentrate on developing them? cheers
