I'd like to say tall and thin will out glide the shorter and/or heavier dude, aria seems to be the controlling factor Tall with weight seems hot ie, 6'.2". 210 pounds ish super gliders use water as ballast to get more speed, funny, with all these experts we still dont know which is best
-
No, I don't. That was my point. We are NOT super-efficient airfoils, most of us are gliding at LESS than 2:1 most of the time. Jeff Nebelkopf made a SINGLE SKIN suit and could glide well enough to keep up with people pushing it harder in inflatable suits. A very subtle airfoil change is incredibly negligible, compared to all the other factors that determine your G.R. And another look at the height thing. A shorter person is not only shorter, but narrower (arm and legspan). So they are basically a "scaled down" version of the tall person. Why should a scaled down version glide any less well than a larger version? That's like saying that a Spectre 170 can glide flatter than a 120. If you had an F16 that flew at 1000mph then scaled it down till it weighd an ounce, there would be no way it could go as fast, it seems to me

So if aspect ratio is important then "webbies" will improve aspect ratio, more like a glider wing, they have giant aspect ratio's, but pylon racers in the old warbirds clip there wingtips for more speed, but then they do have engines. If strength is a big factor then again the webbies will help you maintain the optimum position as one seems stronger than when reaching back for handles. oh yes, Im going for webbies, :-) the dream of flight

What whould have been good selections? a good suit is magic, not for the likes of us mere mortals to try to understand, the airfoil, the plane form, the balance and inflation surly must be designed then tested and tweaked over and over, in each of the models a company makes, Then.......... possibly the hardest part will be to make that same suit with all the same flying characteristics for all the different height weight combinations a manufacture is presented.
-
Actually this is not true. It takes very little air leaking up into your upper camber surface to absolutely kill any lift. but ive heard of wing's that "leak" air to create better laminar flow??

Seeing as Avery and Sean can't make it, I'm heading out there to be one of the few (or only?) west coast representative(s), and to see how things are done on the east coast. edit: registration complete uuuuuuuuuuu do you think you will be able to "keep up" with east coast fliers :-)

I didn't see any price quoted I got to see a Blade at the BPA AGM along with Jarno's cool 3d movie, top work J!! Macca and Mark were telling people the price of the Blade at the AGM but I will not post it just in case it is being kept offline for a reason.. SOOOOOOOO, how much is it gonna be?

QuoteWhen you say Birdman is going to be at PIA does that mean Jari is coming? As I understand Birdman is a company and unless Jari or Jussi is coming, Birdman will not be at PIA -----Scott Campos will be. If I was scheduled to show up and give a seminar it would be me, not Phoenix-Fly showing up -- Robi or James would have to show up for that to happen This is important because if Birdman is going to be there I will make more of an effort to be there I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT TONY IS GOING, DONT THINK THEY HAVE A STALL THERE THOUGH

This is an obvious and big advantage, but only to a point where endurance comes to play. When you have to hold it for a long while, tall and skinny may have a harder time. So, how about a few cliffs this summer? haha, so base is for the taller weaker sex bsbd! Yuri.

SOOO, is the big heavy guy gonna out speed the big light guy, or what??? I know Ryans fat ass is hard to catch and he's in a little [realtivly] small suit [phantom] I think he's 6.4 and 275 pounds fast, flat and fat?? confuses me
-
its only a small market because the majority of the sport hasn't discovered the beauty of the event, tell em to go watch Peter Pan, Robin Williams is on it
-
I also found a way {I think} to stop the leg wing flapping when flying "dirty" it's such a big wing and the fall rate was so fast on two jumps last weekend it drove me nuts, I was trying lots of different leg positions to stop the flapping, nothing worked till I dropped my knees down below my belly, I found this to be a nice position to "match" the fall rate and the forward speed of the base
-
yes I washed mine and it came out great, I put it in a drier and forgot about it, I'm not sure but i think the back tapes shrank a bit, I think drip drying is the way to go
-
have you seen the air intakes on the Tony wing suit's? they inflate very well. The arm's back and front.
-
huh yeah, go spend 2 minuets wondering how high you are, then maybe have a cutaway wondering the same thing
-
I like my alti on my chest strap, I've found no problems with this set up, still think it necessary to wear an audible and a AOD too. If you love life you deserve all 3,
-
Uh Uh, the Mach 1 cant be beat, Jeff N showed Chuck that on a few occasion's and the plum Nebula will be tough to beat, the race will be between the Mach1 and the new Nebula I think
-
Yehhhh, all suit's should be black, Black look's so cool [if its not summer] and pictures look so good when everyone is in black, so much nicer than all that nasty color,
-
Must be something about that shot, Skydiving Magazine used almost the same shot in their mag this month, ............ITS A GOOD SHOT!!! plus I like the way they matched the cover to the color of the to the suit

Hand bag's??? HAND BAG'S???? Ive done many jumps in "handbags" or "webbies" as the elite of the sport like to call them, I love the fine control you get with them, No reaching back for Carpel handles, just pure flight, Like the primary feathers on a birds wings, finite control, NOT like sticking a chunk of wood out to get a bit more. More like watching an eagle swoop in to land or pick up its prey using finite control. beauty in a sky full of truckers :-)

I think it WAS an Eagle
