2016 Parachute Systems Vortex II main canopy sizing chart?
chaospilot replied to LobiWanKenobi's topic in Gear and Rigging
As a Parachute Systems dealer who worked with the owners personally, this is the first I have heard of that company. From a quick look, they are probably just building non-TSO’ed parts and mains, reason why they are not making the Decelerator. Great for places that a TSO does not matter, doesn’t work for former customers who reside in the USA.- 7 replies

2016 Parachute Systems Vortex II main canopy sizing chart?
chaospilot replied to LobiWanKenobi's topic in Gear and Rigging
Here you go! Just a note, you cannot get replacement parts for the Vortex Container (Freebag and PC, Cutaway or Reserve Handle) as their TSO was tied up in the move from overseas to USA during Covid Times.- 7 replies

If the lineset is airworthy and no patches needed, it’s worth in the $800-$1200 range. Lower end if you want to sell quicker or it has sun fade, patches, etc.
-
Will send you an email.
-
They shipped with Vectran lines. You can purchase new linesets from Para-Concepts in Illinois. Parachute Systems is hoping to be back up and running soon, they were temporarily shut down after moving production to the US and Covid.

Classified Ad Posts are automatically renewing and reposting, instead of expiring. This creates an overlap of SOLD gear that users don’t log back in and mark SOLD or renew. Sent a message to Meso with no reply.

The Vortex V6 should fit a 170 standard zp main just fine. Confirm with your rigger and you will probably need to shorten your locking loop a bit. Feel free to message with any direct questions! Bryan Cavage DropzoneSolutions.com

Your reserve size also needs to be considered. If you want to put a 150/150 main/reserve in the rig and then downsize to 139 and 120, a v310 would be a better option in my opinion.

I just posted a Complete Systems Classified Ad and paid the $7 for a Featured Ad. My listing does not show up in the Featured Ads Slider. Since its the most recent, I would expect it first or the ads in the slider to be randomized in viewing. They are not, ads are always in the same order. Please look into this and let me know whats up. Thanks!

When receiving Classified Email Notifications, the email no longer contains the ad URL. This changed between 11/26/2012 and 1/16/2013. Now the email just shows "Link:" and then there is no link to the ad included. dz use of Facebook and Twitter
chaospilot replied to IanHarrop's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Twitter also adds SEO benefit for your dz's website, based on the amount of internet traffic Twitter generates. This is beneficial for your Social Media presence and Website's Organic SEO to rank higher in search results. There are tools that will help you grow your Followers based on Location, interest, etc., and that will post your Social Media comments across your Social Media Accounts (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). Sounds like you are using Facebook properly, I also recommend a Private Group to allow upjumpers to connect about dropzone events, rideshare, group organizing, and general dz going-ons. Hope this helps, if you want more insight on the benefits of Twitter and other Internet Marketing for the DZ, drop me a PM. In my opinion, Dave is pretty spot on with the pricing evaluation.... In relation to the reserve, if you are concerned about the age of the PD Reserve. For $35 you can have PD Inspect it. The rig sounds pretty good for a newer jumper. If you get the serial # of the container, you can contact Mirage and compare the original sizing with your measurements (Barring any harness adjustments after leaving manufacturer, owner should know this). Good luck, and Blue Skies. Bryan Cavage, D-19100 AFF I, Tandem I, Vidiot http://www.dropzonesolutions.com -Social Media Consultant and Skydiving Gear Guru

Paul...glad to hear your enjoying the awesome sport of skydiving and making the commitment of purchasing gear. All the other advice in this thread is great. Based on your expectations for a canopy, I would recommend a Pilot 188 or Safire2 189. Both of these canopies are 9-cells and offer a great glide, consistent openings, and good flares. You should not have any issues of making a Hop n Pop with either canopy. I would recommend demo'ing both the Safire2 and Pilot in similar sizes and also a Spectre, so you can compare Openings, Flight Characteristics, and Flare. In the end, we all have our own likes and dislikes for canopy and canopy flight, try and find what you like! With the Skyride Gang having a DZ near Allentown (Perkasie, PA), I am sure this is one of their marketing scams to LURE, SCAM, and Re-Direct unknowing potential tunnel flyers and potential skydivers with multiple hidden "fees". Checkout the tunnel in New Hampshire, they have great owners and a great instructional staff! Jarid, welcome to the world of skydiving! Youtube videos and AFF flight techniques are better explained and taught by your AFF Instructor, so you are learning the correct techniques your local dropzone teaches, not those taught on an online forum. There are some good videos put out by the USPA that show the AFF Category jumps here: http://www.uspa.org/USPAMembers/Downloads/tabid/84/Default.aspx#2271 I see Harvey's Lake is your hometown, so you may be jumping at my dad's dropzone in PA, Endless Mountain Skydivers, if it is AWESOME, if not check it out http://www.jumpnepa.com! Also, check out a Wind Tunnel, where you can learn basic body position and body flight! The Skydive Expo is scheduled for April 3 - 8, 2012 in Deland, Florida. Here is the official link: http://skydiveexpo.com/ Lara and Kolla put on a great event, with great vendors, speakers, prize giveaways, Load Organizers at Skydive Deland, all around good time! As for the original question about purchasing a complete rig via Manufacturers at the Expo. There is a potential, but in reality the Manufacturers showcase their products and do not carry much inventory at all at their booth. You can try on multiple container types, to see what fits you the best and comes with the latest options you desire. Speak with the Main Canopy vendors and explain your Flying Style, etc and if weather allows and if the vendor has demo's available to jump, you can try them out at Skydive Deland based on their recommended size and model. The Expo is like sitting around the campfire with the all the manufacturer representatives at once, ask the questions, see the product, try the product, buy the product! Hope this helps and I will see you at the Expo. -Bryan Cavage Bryan Cavage, D-19100 AFF I, Tandem I, Vidiot http://www.dropzonesolutions.com -Social Media Consultant and Skydiving Gear Guru
