I send you a specail hello all the way from South Africa! "Watching their terrified faces as they leave the plane" makes me think back on my 1ste jump (not that it was that long ago lol) i remember sitting in the door and looking at my instructor/JM right before i jumped, he smiled and showed me the thumbs up, i smiled back and jumped, ill never forget that image.... when i landed, grinning from ear to ear, he shaked my hand, told me he was proud of me and well done! awesome experience! just thought ill share that with you you JM's leave an impact for the rest of our lives!

Welcome! skydiving can be pretty stressful but a lot of fun! like Peej said, just remember to arch hard and as best as you can. arching is very important with static line. For me controling the canopy was so easy, i thought it would be hard, but turned out to be a breeze! Landing can be tricky though, cos in the beginning judging how high you are is kinda hard, but its gets easier with every jump! Just listen to everything your instructor tells you and you ought to do just fine try to get in as many jumps as you can, every few weeks or so of not jumping, you have to refresh your memory. pratice makes perfect! 17 is really a good age to start

That's what i was thinking too welcome! and good luck with your licence!

If you know for sure skyding is for you and you have the money for the course i would also recommend AFF, but on the other hand, if you are a person that panics quickly (kinda like me) i would then recommend Static line. I did my 1ste jump this past weekend and even SL was pretty stressful for me, i don't think i would have been able to handel AFF. Static line is cheaper and a bit slower. Gives you more time to settle and get use to everthing. Good luck with which every direction you decide to go! I hope you pick one that is most suitable for you

The training went great; it’s an awesome dropzone with really cool people! I had an excellent instructor, couldn’t have asked for better! As training progressed it freaked me out a bit, information overload, but once I got the hang of things it was smooth sailing. Got on to the plane (pretty cramped) with my very fashionable yellow overall and a ton on my back (I didn’t realize that rigs were so heavy!) It was only me and my friend that were students, the other two guys (other then the jumpmaster) are licensed skydivers. I was very chilled and collected UNTILL the 1ste guy jumped, that was when paranoia started to set in. To watch someone just jump out of an airplane like that was insane! I have seen a lot of videos but it’s nothing like the real thing (afterwards when I told him he said “but you should have seen my smile right before I jumped!” I jumped last, had a temporary complete brain fart, but I came around and exited the correct way, my arch was a bit “flat” though, had some line twists. Was a relieve to see the slider sliding down finally! Being under the canopy was unbelievable, nothing I have ever experienced before. When I came in to land I shouted at the top of my voice, “WOOHOOO AWESOME!” flaring and then landing smoothly on my feet, with a little stumble, my legs felt like jelly! lol Spend the whole day at the dropzone, met a lot of new people, can’t wait for next weekend! I just want to jump again…and again and again! Thank you for every one that welcomed me to the forums! -
