  1. If you are planning on getting an AAD anyway then just do it, but if you don't think you are going to then just rent your gear until you get your license. On the other hand if your DZ charges 25+ for rent per jump then it might be cheaper just to get the AAD.
  2. I remember, but it was just to stay up over the weekend with friends.
  3. Dose anybody know, not guessing, if adding a bug/rock guard to the hood of a Jeep Wrangler improves the mileage? I have had several friends say yes and no, if there are any mechanics or gearheads out there this would be much appreciated. I am most curious about 50+ mph. Thanks.
  4. You don't have to buy beer, and if you don't drink then most places won't have a problem with it. But you can always just chip in to a beer fund (most DZs have them) or just bring a couple of 2 liter pops when necessary, everyone ells can use them as mixers.
  5. I've done all of my jumps with soft contacts and theres never been a problem. One got a little loose during a tracking jump, but there has never been any big problems. I even did one jump without goggles. Go for it.
  6. Your best bet is to get your license and jump in college. Several schools have clubs and teams and you could learn and jump and get you degree. With the experience you get while in college you can decided what you want to do for the rest of your life. Also filming the competitions and club vids can be the beginning of a resume should you choose to do it.
  7. So long as you have gone through the aff program and gotten all the items on your yellow card checked off then the rest of your jumps can be whatever you want.
  8. The USPA keeps fairly good records on all the reported injuries and deaths.
  9. My dz doesn't have a problem with it unless its a real busy day and they have a lot of tandems to get done.
  10. We used to have a barbed wire fence and that did nothing more than scare the students. Now we have to land a little away from the airport so the student situation is a little hard because if any of them land off dz there will be big political problems for the dzo.
  11. Every DZ I have been to has kept the door closed until 1000 ft. I don't have any problem with it, for me under 1k is the scariest part of the whole flight. Even in a 182 its only about 1 min.
  12. I always seem to check my beanbag about three times in the airplane.
  13. From what it sounds like he is a good jumper with some natural talent. As long as the rest of the people at the dz keep him from getting too cocky then he sould be ok.
  14. That was for a show called stunt junkies. He did as much prep as he could and made it as safe as he could. And be honest, if he had pulled it off you would have been the first to buy him a beer.
  15. I'm in the same boat. I run a college club and I get a lot of people asking questions and then none of them jump with us. One guy came to the DZ four times and sat around all day before jumping and then he never came back. I just wish that people would be honest. If your not going to jump don't waist my time having me tell you all the details of a jump if your never going to go out. And the worse thing is that the people that want to jump can never afford it.
  16. At what point dose it become a long term relationship? Is it in the months or after the year mark? Any answers and reasons. Thanks.
  17. Can anyone give me a basic explination about the difference b/t a crossbraced and standard canopy?
  18. That was sweet. I love tracking dives. BTW, how do you keep your sandals from falling off in the wind?
  19. The only way skydiving could cause PTSD would be if someone was thrown out against their will. If it was the first jump you might be a little scared, but you shouldn't be traumatized by it.
  20. I did my first AFF as my second jump. It was a little nerve racking, but I think it was the way to go.
  21. I just jumped at Eugene Skydivers on Saturday. The weather was great.
  22. It might be that your spending more time at the DZ talking to other people than to her. Or maybe she is just freaking out that you may get hurt. Just take it slow and talk to her about what is bugging her. I went through the same thing with my girl, but I had about 50 jumps when it happened. Good Luck
  23. Day 2 Chico to Portland. Skydive Oregon is about 40 miles south of Portland just off I-5. You can get directions and hours on their website. Eugene Skydivers is about 80 miles further south in Creswell. Again website for directions. Skydive Oregon has a caravan and twin otter. And the perple at Eugene Skydivers are some of the best I have ever met in the sport. You may have to get an early star since both are closer to the end of your second day. Good luck
  24. As long as you know what your talking about, and have studied your SIM, it shouldn't be more than 30 min.
