I started packing my own as soon as I could. As far as I can tell a pack job runs about $5, this seems to be the going rate. The best thing seems to learn to pack your chute as best you can. That way you save money and know the job is done the way you like it.

Is Skydiving an extreme sport?
FallingDuck replied to aguila's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Skydiving has the best of both worlds. It is an extreme sport without the EXTREME!!!! people in it. That is what makes it so good. -
Worldwide skydiving population
FallingDuck replied to autoset's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I would like to see the sport grow to the point that people loose the misconceptions about it. As for actual numbers you could ask the USPA, FAI, and the BPA. That would cover the majority of the western world. -
I've jumped with a cold before. You can do it as long as your not stuffed up. If you're stuffed then nothing above 5k feet. good luck.

So the question is... Would you?
FallingDuck replied to gontleman's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yes, a 20 min free fall, hell yes. -
Benefits to holding a USPA license?
FallingDuck replied to matt1215's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have friends that went overseas and one had a license and the other just had his card. The one that only had his card wasn't allowed to jump at half the DZs they went to. -
I have a mindwarp and it is the best that I have ever jumped in. About half my DZ has them so that is what you should go with first. Good Flying.

Would you like family to skydive
FallingDuck replied to Ruskin's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I don't see a problem with parents jumping, hawever it is a decision that they have to make for themselves. As long as you feel safe go out and have fun. -
Good job, keep it up and have fun and try everything you can.

When did you guys first jump?
FallingDuck replied to chopperman1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I did my first jump a few months after my 18th b-day. I was 60 miles away from my dz and it took about two years for me to get my A. Then I took about two years off due to lack of funds. -
Once you get the repack and currency out of the way pick on dz that fits you the best. If you start to go on the same day every week or even once a month you will run into the same people. If you don't find someone that you like jumping with try another day, or another dz. -Good Luck

Tandems, Hurting or helping membership?
FallingDuck replied to thedarkside's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think that tandems are the best way to bring new people into the sport. As a member of a college club it is best way to bring people in to the fold safely. It sounds like you need better load management. Better luck in the future. -
Coming off large doses of adrenaline
FallingDuck replied to michaeldupreez's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
When I was doing my AFF I would always be tired later in the day. It seems to happen whenever I do three or more jumps in one day. Maybe your disinterest is the same thing. If it is, it will get better once you get to 30 or 40 jumps.
