I'm still waiting for Ray Nagin to have to pay for HIS violations of gun rights... I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper.

I have some experience, but there's a hitch in it -- my experience is all 30 years old. with a large break in between. At this point, I'm going to concentrate on my skydiving and not my gadgets! Would recommend the classifieds on this very site over eBay. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/page.cgi?d=1 Thanks, all of you! I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper.

#1- your eyes #2- a nice used analog wrist mount that you can get for $50 on the internet. Glad you posted that! I've been drooling over an Altitrack since last summer, but I guess that used $50 altimeter will do just fine. Got a link, or just search eBay? I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper.

Canopy Collision video (thankfully non fatal)

I had thought they were. I guess it must have been a local ban that I THOUGHT was a USPA ban. That was a long time ago! I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper. -

You left out the fact that hook turns were a problem, and were actually BANNED for quite some time. Of course, they seem to be almost expected today. I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper. -
Head down with a belly wart! LOL! I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper.

I have an older Linksys router, so it might be a little different -- but try going to Wireless/Basic Wireless Settings and set it to Mixed rather than just N. Might work for you. I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper.

Am I reading this right? Two jumpers, EACH with less than 20 jumps, were allowed to do RW WITH EACH OTHER??? Let me change that to ATTEMPT RW... I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper.

Addressing the stability issue -- Years ago, our skydiving club was all military, and on the weekends we used to jump from Hueys, CH-46's, and CH-53's. We'd just get the duty helicopter for half a day or a bit more. Stability was about the same as from a 182. The only differences I remember were going off the tail ramp, I usually made went into a full, extreme arch, and did a full loop anyway. As for the Huey, which is most like the 500, either jump from the door, or else watch your footing on the skid. You REALLY don't want to do the splits on that skid. When you leave, simply turn to face the relative wind and take a side step, and you're good to go. As for legality, what you're proposing sounds a bit chancy. I'd suggest you get your friend to fly into a DZ the day before, spend the night, and actually have experienced jumpers and pilots give him instruction in putting jumpers out, then do a few loads. Split the cost of the flights and have the jumpers actually pay for it. That might encourage him to start dropping jumpers regularly, the pilot wouldn't be out any money, and the DZ would have a good time. This would also stop all the finger pointing! I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper.

Remind me never to fly in/out of Gulfpot-Biloxi...
kd5xb replied to iluvtofly's topic in The Bonfire
Apparently there were only THREE rated pilots -- the 172 was being used for training a student pilot. I've seen other airplanes "up close" several times -- once over the Tallahassee VOR while I was descending to land, once just east of Valdosta, Georgia, when I got to count the screws & rivets on a couple of F-16's making a straight-in approach to Moody AFB from perhaps 15 or 20 miles out, and once on an airway when the other guy was at the wrong altitude. Never had that experience at ANY airport, controlled or not. I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper. -
You open at 13,000 ft and discover a mal. What next? (VIDEO)
kd5xb replied to skydiverek's topic in Safety and Training
Thanks for your post, Popsjumper. Good info from an "old head". I'm not 100% sure, but I would almost bet that the below is in response to my earlier post. I don't have a lot of jumps. My initial jump training was in 1978, and I'm still here today, in relatively good condition. No chronic back problems or anything else. I DO have several hundred hours as PIC of single-engine aircraft, and I can PERSONALLY vouch for four out of the following six conditions. (I've always heard that the wise man learns from other people's mistakes, so I guess I haven't always been that wise.) Perhaps my experience in airplanes should add a little credit to my suggestion that you not squander your altitude. BTW, I don't recall using the word "stupid" anywhere, so perhaps the comment form wildcard451 was NOT meant for me. Speculation. I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper. -

Video shows a bad move. Things which do you no good in aviation: - Altitude above you. - Runway behind you. - Fuel in the truck. - Half a second in history. - Approach plates in the car. - The airspeed you don't have. I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper. -
I used a 2-meter handie talkie from a 172 many times and things were just fine. Of course, I was PIC. I tried it once from a C-141 cruising of the middle of the United States, and while the airplane didn't do anything weird, I couldn't USE the HT -- I was hearing WAY to many stations all at once! I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper.

I'm trying to remember the proportions, but my wife makes a non-alcoholic wassail using apple cider, cranberry juice, cinnamon, sugar, and cloves. Who was the Playboy Playmate on the month you were born?

You should have also requested a picture from NOW. That could be quite a shock! BTW -- Jackie Rainbow -- http://www.freeweb.hu/playmate/html/5409.html Never heard of her. I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper. -

Ever jump it? We need pics! And I had a Swing Wing, it's gone, and now I want another! Anybody got one in a size "humongous"? I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper.

Illinois'/Chicago's Gun Laws are working out SO WELL...

Yes, they do. Kinda makes you wonder what ELSE they think, and act upon. I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper. -
Don't get in a big hurry with ANYTHING. I wouldn't jump a demo in Misawa when I only had about 50 or 60 jumps. I also wouldn't jump with a movie camera with the same number of jumps. I wouldn't "free pack". I'd listen to my rigger when he tried to tell me that a torn-out grommet on my deployment bag was going to cause me a problem. In short, I'd realize that I'm not Superman. I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper.

I'm trying to get back to skydiving after having made about 80 jumps in the late '70's. A couple of weeks ago, I was passing by Eloy, so stopped and took 5 minutes in the tunnel. I found that, after almost 30 years of not jumping, I can still fly, albeit not very well. I could stay in the center, make turns, etc., but it wasn't very relaxed, you can see LOTS of jerky movements to correct my flight. Even so, I believe it helped me a lot, and next spring (when it warms up), I'll try to get back in the air, with a bit more recent experience, and more confidence. I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper.

fun fact that you may or may not know. . . tylenol is one of the most common (if not the) drugs used in drug related suicide attempts. which is a HORRIBLE idea, because most times it does not kill you, yet will totally destroy your liver, making the rest of your life so much more fun. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Tylenol_murders I'm a jumper. Even though I don't always have money for jumps, and may not ever own a rig again, I'll always be a jumper.
