No, I am not a rigger, but in my country skydiving instructor is allowed to pack reserves. I pack about 20 reserves every year. This one is on student rig, that had a cutaway 2 years ago. Original reserve handle was lost, and we ordered 2 replacement handles from aerodyne. Replacement handle was used for last 2 years, but students sometimes roll on landing. I think this is how it got bent. Aerodyne told me that this can be straitened by laying it on a plastic board and tapping firmly with a plastic faced hammer. I plan to do that and to do TEST 1 for pins from 2003 CW03-01. If any distortion is noticed I would say pin is not airworthy. I have another replacement handle but it could have same quality, as this one.

Swaged area is bent. Check image that I have attached in first post.

Pin is from 2006, there was a SB for pins from 2003. Does this means that there is more problematic pins. Any way I will do TEST 1 from SB, and I'll inform you if pin will bend on 15 lb or more. Regardles of result - I am replacing it

I am repacking all reserves in my club for jumping season. And I have noticed on one of student rigs - reserve pin is slightly bent. Is this ok, or it needs to be replaced. Rig is 4 years old Aerodyone Icon student.

Just to inform you - reverse 3 rings have 2 flaws. And one benefit. 1. Higher force (than normal 3 ring) is required for cutaway when dealing with high cenripetal forces. But if used on big docile canopies this is no problem. 2. If you have horseshue or dual out reserve risers will be pressing 3 ring and they won't cutaway. After pulling cutaway handle, you will have to pull them away from reserve risers - then they will work. Benefit - they are usually stronger (they don't have hole in them).

Is this more pronounced on Icons with smaller reserve ? Because if there is a bigger reserve and bigger reserve flaps, more force reserve PC will with same top diameter will have against reserve flaps. Correct ? I have 3 student Icons in Croatia (Smart 250) and 1 Icon Sport with Smart 220. Also I belive I have on my Atom legend Quick 2 reserve PC. What is diference to Quick 3 reserve PC ? -
Pictures are 2 days old. This was 100 years anniversary of my football club - Hajduk. Flag is 4x6 meters .

Hi, I did my 1100th jump And I have celebrated it with parachute connected to fly backwards. It was accuracy canopy "Classic" with very low WL (0.7). During flight I had to do much mental processing to make it fly where I want to. But after few exercises I have managed to make landing pattern. Flare was almost impossible because canopy would start turning wrong way, so I decided to land with small flare action, and now I have to wash mud from my container Anyway if you want to try it be careful, and use docile canopy. And make at least 1000 normal jumps before. :) And here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdK-lfOZ9yM

Does the fear ever go away?

Hey Sabre 150 @30 jumps? This canopy is to big for you, try Velo 75 instead. -
I jump BT 410 sqft, and I am pro-packing it. Openings are great. Btw, it is older model with lots of jumps and it is difficult to flare.
-
It looks same as Eiff Classic !! Even some pictures from eiff manual are incorporated into Zero's manual,...

Me and my wife (she is also jumping) were watching Star Trek at movies and during this scene we were not impressed with jump until somebody pressed button for automatic packing - then we said out loud :"Wooow". Others were very confused by our reaction ;)

I have done around 150 jumps on brand new Radical 135 loaded 1.4. I have ordered version with spectra lines. I have got canopy made from non slipery thick ZP. Canopy looks really durable. Openings are soft and predictable. Canopy is ground hungry. On 180 deg toggle turn it eats up 200-150 feat of altitude, so you better learn flat turns. It is easy to hold front riser during turns, but when I use 2 front risers there is some distortion on canopy (I have shorter risers on atom legend). During flare there are tons of flare. Great canopy for swooping.

Recovery Arcs on intermediate canopies.

I didn't jump Katana, but I hear it is very similar. Openings (hop & pop) are very fast. Openings from terminal are slow 900-1000 ft. (2 stage opening) You can control opening direction using leg position. It is trimmed steap, so if you are far a way from DZ on opening you must fly with toggles on 40%. Also on turns it eats a lot of altitude, so you must learn how to do flat turn. It is very light pressure on fronts, and higher pressure on back risers. It dives hard on front riser turn. When I switch to back risers I usualy spread back risers. It has a tons of flare power. -

I also jump radical but much lighter WL (1.35). Also on this wl radical rules! It is great for swoop learning. It can dive long, much longer than stilleto or springo,... -
I didn't jump techno but I saw 2 landings of techno 155. They were very docile and with lot of flare stand up landings. And it packs small.

Your first 2010 skydive was out/off of a....?

Hi, Can you please enlist Turbolet L-410. There were a lot of skydivers in Mali Lošinj in Croatia, jumping from this aircraft,...[/cool] -
I think Oliver Furrer is still alive!

1. 998 jumps 2. 2 cutaways 3. Jump 77 -> Reserve handle became dislodged in freefall. When my parafoil 272 was open, I was splitting slider and reserve opened. I pulled red, and landed quick 180. Jump 780 -> Spinning Springo 140. When I looked up it had around 10 linetwists and slider above twists. I was spinning on my back. Later I found that outer A/B line was locked in twists, so it looks like there was some snag on this line during deployment ?!? I was wearing factory diver and rw suit and I was good stable position.

This 2 are my students during flare,... Hope this helps,...

Hey, I didn't say like brand new I said fabric feels like brand new ! I also said around 300 jumps with original line set. Like I said in e-mail : I was sure that line trim cause for my bad landings. I was complaining to bad botom flare. Somebody said that it is old desing and I should not invest money into a line trim, so I ordered Atair (Slovenian) Radical 135. While I was waiting for Radical to be done, I did some playing with lines, and I've extended control lines for few centimeters, and my landings improved dramaticaly. So I have found out that problem that I was stalling it on every landing ;( Anyway if you wish do do a linetrim you can do it but it is not mandatory. Also, only 2 lines (complete cascade) on left side, and 2 lines on right side should be replaced because they have schrinked a little, so this will not cost much. Now because I have Radical I am selling Springo,... I also belive that Radical is better for swooping
