  1. I think I'll have to go to WFFC myself. Main reason is , considering Rogers "no swearing policy" All I'd be doing all day is returning the peace sign and shit eating grins to people giving me the peace sign and shit eating grins all pfouking day long. I wouldn't have any pfouking time to jump! :-)
  2. Just talked to Kim at Bird-man, and she has confirmed that her and Jari will honor us with their presence again this year. Jari will be there to organize wing suit dives and Kim said they are going to have a couple of instructors for first timers. Hey wingsuit pilots! Jari is a blast to fly with(hes always having fun) and he dont care how many suit jumps you have. You got a ticket and a wingsuit , you're on the load. Be ready to be challenged though, because he will put us through some paces!! You can learn alot just by watching Jari fly!!! He is also full of pointers and is happy to talk about it. Of course there is no charge, compliments of those fine folks that run "THE" boogie. Come on out, you'll be glad you did!!!! Chris Grenner D-7250 Wingsuit nut
  3. By the way Skymedic, I didn't appreciate that threatening personal message you sent me. Ok, I called you a dumbass. I'm sorry. Lay off please.
  4. I was doing acid once on a dive(25 years ago) and I remember thinking, Dam!! This is no fun!!
  5. I have a crossbow, I dont think its as good as the Bird-man. But its still a wingsuit. Wanna buy it?
  6. Fordy, If you have 240 wingsuit jumps you are already near the top. I have owned all 3 suits. Classic, GTI and skyflier. I have to say that 50 to 55 fall rate is pretty good, depending on your height and weight. I am 5'10 175 lbs. and 50 to 55 is the best I can do. And thats on a very good day. I have gotten slower, but then I stall out. You may already have found the sweet spot. It sounds like you have the perfect body position. You might try grabbing the tips of the wings, that slows your fallrate, but its harder to control. Also I have found that I cannot get 20% better with my skyflier than the classic. 10% is closer. (according to my Pro-trak which I carry near my ankle) I did worse with the GTI, dont know why, but it may have been the fit. I spent a lot of time trying to decrease my fallrate, but finially said fuck it. Thats too much like work. Besides that , When jumping with other bird-men the fallrate is always faster. Some people seem to think the slower you fall, the better flier you are, but its more a matter of height to weight to wingsize ratio. You could be an excellent flier, and still not be able to reach the speeds that some tall skinny person could achieve on thier first jump. Chris wingsuit nut
  7. ....to help me quit smoking. Its been 8 days now My old lady 's been bitchin, saying I've been acting like a jerk. Says shes gonna buy me a pack of cigs. After telling her to kiss my ass, I thought about it. Then I had a idea. I get hooked on crack. That will help me forget about cigs. Then I come down off the crack. It must be easier. Any dealers out there willing to help me out???

    Richmond?

Oh my God, someone said something bad about another DZ? How terrible, I can see how that would ruin your whole day. I'm sure that that kind of talk never goes on wherever you jump. And who is" they"?? Are you talking about the owner or one other jumper, or was everyone DZ bashing. I live close to Richmond, and I didn't even go that day because the weather was so shitty. I'll bet there was very few other people there also. I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but people at different DZs are all pretty much the same. You will find some good ones and also some bad ones. " I'm jon from zenia please dont hate me" Poor guy. He's begging us not to hate him. I dont think thats possible. All the regulars at Richmond know how we always talk about how much we hate those people from Zenia. We love to say how stupid those people are. Other DZs too. We hate em all. Dont come jump with us , were all a bunch of assholes anyway, you probably wont have any fun. Jason tried to be nice to you, but he's kidding. I heard that he really does' hate' people from other DZs. He's leading you into a trap. Dont fall for it!! ChrisG (sorry Jason, I just had to do that) :-)
  11. Thought I'd try this here, since the wingsuit thread was removed from Swooping and Canopy control. ( I think because I dissagreed with a moderator) A lot of talk is going around, saying that you need to open up the bottom of the container, to allow the bag to come out easier. This is probably necessary if you pull in full flight, like the Bird-man manual says to do. With all due respect to Yari, I think pulling in full flight is a bad idea for a number of reasons. 1. Ever had a hard opening? If this happens while in full flight it WILL jerk your body forwards very fast and make a hard opening even more painfull. Once I thought I would actually flip between my lines. Just look at the angle your body is, compared to the 45 degree angle that the pilot chute comes off your back, and you can see how this could happen. 2. In most the deployments I've observed, the bag drops down after it leaves your back. I have seen bags below peoples feet before. Because of gravity, the pilot chute cannot hold the bag in a straight line off your back. It creates around a 20-30 degree line from pilot to bag compared to the angle of the canopys lines. When I was pulling in full flight, the bag hit my foot once. This is not good. 3. In full flight at pull time, your legs are straight out and pulled together, and your hands are near the bottom of the container. This has a natural tendency to direct you head down. If you have ever tried to fly in this position without a wingsuit, you know that it is very difficult to stay in a level attitude with your legs and arms in that position. Heres my technique; I begin my sequence at 3500 ft. I close my legs and bring my knees in so that my upper legs are at a right angle to my body, while I place both hands on my backpack. I take a couple of seconds to make sure I have a good grip on my handle. This position immediately slows my forward speed and increases my vertical speed. I then throw my pilot bringing both arms out, then quickly bring both hands to my harness right below the 3 rings , and stick my elbows out a little. This faces me directly into the relative wind, and the pilot chute and bag are coming straight off my back. I know this because in this position it is easy to look at your bag as it comes off. Just like an RW dive. I feel I am in a much better position if I have a hard opening, also I think it is easier to fly in a tuck position than a stretched out position. ( less chance of going unstable). My rig is not modified in any way, and since I started this technique I have had no problems. Other experienced bird men I've spoken to ( but not all) do some variation of this. So, bottom line here is , You do not have to get your rig modified for your bag to come off properly, you just need to be in the proper body position. Its easy! Any comments? Wings

When I first tried to pack my main, I could not close the container, so I took it out and sat on the bag a while to make sure all the air was out. I tried again and with more muscle than I've ever used on a rig, I got it closed. It was very tight, so tight that it distorted the material on the container. It was sticking out about an inch above the reserve at the top corners. It looked like shit. The pilot chute was also very tight. The rig looked like it was pregnant. I sent it back, with the canopy ,for them to check. I honestly thought they would immediately say something was wrong with the size. Instead they contacted me and said that it was (quote) "perfectly fine", and they were sending it back. When I got it back, it looked WORSE than when I packed it. They obviously have a blind eye towards cosmetic apperance. I called them back and the lady agreed that it was tight, but then she said my canopy would (magically) shrink over time. (??????) She also said the pilot chute would loosen up a little after 20-30 jumps, and that most people like their container tight so that they can downsize. She didn't ask if I was going to do that. (I'm not) Then she said, If we (GROAN) HAVE to build you a new rig, I have to promise her that I will dilligently watch my closing loop because it was going to be too loose, and I may kill myself. About then I decided to have nothing to do with that company again. They are desperate. The poor workmanship involves the stripes on the lower reserve. The fabric is wrinkled, like it wasn't pulled tight when they sewed it. This has nothing to do with safety or anything, but I feel that if they allowed that, there may be other areas of shitty work that got passed over that I cannot recognize. So, after all that, I did what I should have done in the first place- I ordered a Vector. Anyone want to buy a Wings? 150 reserve and a 135 main or smaller should fit nicely. $1000 OBO Chris Grenner D-7250

  14. Thats piss poor customer service there skybitch. Whats wrong with checking on your order to see when it will be done? That aint that hard to do. Someone may be planning something and wants to know when their new gear will be done. You seem to say that these companys have no idea whats going on in thier shop and that it will be a big hassle to find out. Since most items dont even go into production until 5 or 6 weeks after ordering, what the hells wrong with making a change before thats started. It sounds like you work at some rig or canopy maker, Tell me who it is so I'll know to expect people to get mad there if I have some kind of inquiry, about an order I placed. I guess you never call your vendors to see when the stuff you ordered will be delivered, cause it dont matter, i'tl get here when it does, why should you bother them. Every company has to put up with unsatisfied or upset people no matter how small it is. Lighten up, youre the one who should lay back , relax, have a beer, and realize customer service is important.
