I would seriously skip buckhead unless you like the meat market, cruisin my Navigator with 20" rims atmosphere. Try the Highlands or at least Midtown. I got a pair of prescription Ray Ban shades at LensCrafters. $170 w/blue mirror polarized lenses. They're great for skydiving with the strap they sold me for $4 they don't budge and nearly seal to my face letting little if any air in. The perk being I can alos wear them in the car or even better on the boat. No expert here, but curious to know what loading your jumping this canopy at? I occasionally jump a 210 loaded at .75!! On almost every opening I have to work my butt off to get the end cells to open. After that I have a nice loooooooooooong canopy ride!!!!! kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Wow, very helpful so far to all! Yes i have tried a Javelin c-16 and it fit fairly well, but it was not a rig I want to own. It was older and needed some help. I am looking at a Wings container '97 model "made for a guy 5'10 185" w-11. The price is right, but only problem is it fits a 150 -175 main where as I plan on starting with a 150 main. I don't see this as a huge dilema as I will probably purchase a new container before I ever downsize. Most fo my 55 jumps have been on a 160 safire with balance mixed between hornet 190s and a few Sabre 150s. I feel comfy on the Sabre 150 and would have many more jumps on that size, but it's very uncommon to find canopies that size in rental gear. The jumps I have on one were a loner rig. I have no desire to downsize quickly or even moderately. I have seen first hand the effects of flying beyond your abilities. The memories of that day stay with me in all that I do not just skydiving. I hate that life was lost, but I do my best to assure that it was not in vain. Yeah I get funny looks for razzing people about their canopy size with my low experience. I sat at an Atlnta Braves game with my boss the other night. He and a buddy discussed that they would be attending the 9/11 game in Atlanta vs. the Mets. We spoke of how there will undoubtedly be some sort of ceremony or memorial marking the occasion at the game. I piped up and siad that I would like to ask for that morning or afternoon off in advance to head the DZ for a jump or two. My half whuffo boss and his buddy both agreed that I should have no worries of work that day. They both expressed that my skydiving is a fine example of enjoying the freedoms that make our country great. So will they be joining me to jump anytime soon??? Hell no! My 2cents... To add a twist the first time I had a riser cover come open and start smackin me in the ear at 7k I didn't know what to do. i knew "something" was loose and not where it should be yet i was a lil high to pull with peeps behind me. I grabbed the hackey, went into a track for about 6 second, waved off like mad and dumped quick. I was worried about those above and behind me, but not knowing what exactly was happening with my gear I saw it necessary to dump. I later spoke with anyone who would listen about at the DZ and they all agreed I did the right thing, including those who exited immediatley following me on that load. At 40 jumps I did not have the experience to diagnose the problem in freefall and felt better slowing things down a bit. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. On a better note, there is a dealer selling new Cypres for $820 each on Ebay. By all accounts they seem to be legit. I have been watching Ebay closely for weeks as I am in the market for gear. I came across an auction for a used cypres I thought seemed a bit fishy, but didn't think much of it til tonight wile on the Cypres website. I was able to go back on ebay and find the old auction. In continuation of my gear search and it's many hurdles... The subject of this issue is canopies.....

After months of window shopping i am FINALLY piecing my beer rig together and need some help.I am planning on buying mostly used and building a rig as I have had no luck finding a complete rig that suits me or is not overpriced... I have an "odd" physical build I'm 5'11" but only 135lbs. I am worried about finding a harness/container that fits right. Seeing as how I have never worn one custom made for me I am not entirely sure how a correct fitting harness feels. I have 55 jumps all on rental gear. I have jumped a total of perhaps 10 different rigs. The most common problem I have is leg straps that are too long and actually intersect and even bunch up when i tighten them leaving miles of strap to tuck in. This is obviously due to my skinny legs. Chest straps that are too long don't seem to pose such a problem, but I have the feeling I am not noticing the ill fit because that problem is easier to cope with. So what I am asking is how do I check the fit of a harness?? What should I look for? and Can legstraps be altered, not the actual strap but the padding that encloses it? It's tough to judge when your lookin at a rig someone wants to sell you and all they can say is "Yeah it fits Great". Any help is greatly appreciated!! Kwak

I'd watch out for those Columbian women Clay. Speaking from experience they will wanna marry ya after two dates if your not careful!!!! I could make a hard toggle turn and then turn in the opposite direction and it would spin up. This is a required manuever under the canopy control section on the A lic. proficiency card. Funny when i asked a coach about it he just grinned and said be sure to do it above 3k. He knew I had dealt w/ line twist b4 and figured the lesson would be better learned if I were suprised by them again. I just bought a new helmet... I went the cheap route. I looked at protecs and bought a competitor model. It's called a Triple 8, picked it up at the local skatepark for $40. Being a newbie I don't do much that is overly stylish in the air so why fake it ??? It does have a cool paint scheme that fades from blue to black. As for eyewear I am a bit nearsighted so I sport a pair of Ray Ban wrap arounds polarized w/ blue mirror lenses. The shades are great and multi use too; ie driving, at work, on the boat and only set me back $180 with the prescription lenses. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Does sound familiar... while on student status I jumped a safire 169 that had similar issues. My instructor was yellin at me to get my hands up on final, but was unaware that if let my right hand up from half brakes the thing would turn to the left. He had a hard time listenting to a guy with four jumps explain this until we found a packer that jumped the rig regularly and he cocurred that there was a turning issue. I can't say what the final diagnosis was, but i do know the probelm was fixed eventually because i have umped the canopy since with no problems. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield.
