  3. Hmm in my short career I haven't too many on my list. I am sure that in the future I will look back and realize perhaps there were more, but here are a few.... Jumping sunset load on jump #9 my second solo from 16k, after official sunset, w/o my glasses and landing downwind cuz i couldn't see the windsock. I think the peanut gallery's comments were something like "he's safe at 1st, 2nd and 3rd!!!!, oooh but out at home too bad" No injurys there luckily just a chafed butt. Doing jumps 15-19 from 4,00- ft from the cessna in sleet and snow, maybe not dumb, but damn that sucked. Missing the fact that someone had disconnected the RSL on the rental gear I use when i did a gear check not once, but on two occasions. A very gracious instructor caught it while boarding the plane both times and quickly chewed my ass the 2nd time and made me check every rig in the DZ when the beer light came on. Not giving proper separation between exits w/ a free fly 3 way, I opened right in the middle of the 3 wondering why THEY were so damn close to me. ummm I think that's it for now, I hope that by learning from folks like those here on DZ.com that I will keep this list short in years to come. kwak Stupidity is a crime.
  4. Ahhh, there in lies the key Gale... I am self employed for all intents and purposes. I am in construction, I deal with builders and some GCs, but I am no-ones employee. That helps a bit, BUT I doubt I would ever work for someone who would forbid me to do such things to my hair or body, just not my style. kwak Stupidity is a crime.

    Do You WaHoo???

Do you give a lil vitcory yell or "WaHoo" at opening? As I gain experience I am becoming more perceptive to the deatils of my surroundings while jumping. I have noticed more and more lately that at opening time mixed in with the sounds of snivvelin n poppin canopys I hear alot of "WaHoos!!!!!!" Just a good time havin, lung bustin, victory yell of sorts. All this time i thought I was a bit odd for giving this same yell at the sight of a good open canopy or upon landing. 17. My turn? First off, I must agree with what evryone has said here and add my Thanx to Sangiro. Its quite an impressive place around here. I first logged on shortly after my first jump and have been back daily ever since. I have learned from everyone here, the expertise or their questions have helped to satisfy my quest for knowledge and information. I have met and had the pleasure of jumping with several people from DZ.com, including Kreg that started this thread and two other who posted in this thread. It was an amazing weekend I will never forget, a Boogie I would not have known about if it weren't for this site. Ya know it's crazy ya talk to a guy a few times on here (kreg), then ya meet him around the bonfire at a Boogie the next week and he let's ya crash in his camper, and I don't even have BOOBIES! I have to say the chance meeting of Tina and her gang on the Casa was a classic. The frootloop courtesy of Wingnut on that jump was some crazy shiat! Ahhh and the Magic Carpet Ride I laugh my ass off everytime I think about it!!! btw Tina I attatched the pic from Mardi Gras of the DZ.com gang you were referring to... Nuff said I suppose, Thanks Sangiro! kwak Stupidity is a crime.

    I'm back

Let it be known you were missed around here and it' s great to see you back not only here, but in the air as well. When I first logged on to DZ.com your writings caught my eye and brought me back here for the first few weeks. I will confess to printing some your AFF stories out for my bedtime reading as an AFF student myself. Your insight into the student experience, it's struggles and rewards were inspiring at the least. I'm grateful for this place and people like you who make it so wonderful. This amazing sport which has quickly become a huge part of my life has allowed me to meet some true friends. I have been fortunate to meet and jump with some great people from DZ.com and hope to continue to in the future. Though you and I may never meet I feel as though we know one another. As people who have experienced the wonder of Human Flight we all share a common bond and it's great to have a place such as this to share hopes, fears, triumphs and defeats. Occasionally we need to lighten up and talk about beer n boobies, but that's what makes us great. So don't be a stranger, you never really have ;-) Kwak Stupidity is a crime.
  19. Actually be prepared for 2 sales pitches. One at the resort you tour near your home, and a second when ya get to Fl. They will conveniently put you up in a nice Days Inn 10 miles from anything, but a "short stroll to their luxurious new timeshare resort". They will offer something else "free" for touring that one if your lucky and they don't require you to tour before they let you check into the hotel. Anyways fight em off and take all they'll give ya I went to Disney, Miami and Vegas on those bums!! kwak Stupidity is a crime.
  20. my $.02 I managed to get through AFF in 7 jumps. I attribute my instant addiction to the sport and my thirst for my knowledge that led me here and many other places to get all the info and tips I could. The only issues I had were my forward movement in level 4. It has been talked about here before. I was afraid of being to aggressive and slamming into my instructor. He told me afterwards that I couldn't hit him if i wanted to, and actually dared me to try on level 5. I still didn't really zoom in on him, but definately noticed the difference when you get those legs out like they should. Being aggressive to a certain extent is not a bad thing in my opinion. AFF-Is should be able to fly the pants off anyone else in the sky and do loops around students, that is what they are trained and certified to do. To stay with or chase down an outta control student and make sure he lives. Trust your instructors, BUT take responsibility for your on safety. One last thing, not sure if they cover this in the SIM... You know what to do if the chute doesn't open right??????? Just walk towards the bright light my friend!!! hahaha Smile n have fun! kwak Stupidity is a crime.
  21. I had/have many of the same questions about Fr. Riser turns n dives as well as braked approaches and flat turns while working through my A proficiency card. I am learning that the most important thing is learn the safety issues regarding each first. Then from there try absorb some tecnique advice, but for the most part you just have to experiment and play. Do it up high and watch out for others and all should be well. kwak Stupidity is a crime.
