I have always thought it bad form for a guy to buy his own cologne. Always seem to have the ebst luck finding ones I liked when they were given to me as gifts. Who better to answer this question than a woman who KNOWS you???? My personal favs are Old Spice, Brut, Budweiser ughhh hm ok really though... Hugo is damn good, but Coolwater is what I sport these days. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Sometimes your the hammer sometimes your the nail. Thanks for the advice gang. Funny thing my Rigger apparently reads these forums. He sent me a PM inviting me to watch him do my next reserve repack. I guess it pays to post ey? Damn now I'm scared! Being a recnt new owner of my pre-second rig there is sooooooo much I don't know. I am not a verety trusting person with many things and am having a hard time not knowing more about my gear. Heck I'm a crappy mechanic, but will do anything to fix problems with my own vehicles rather than trust a mechanic. I understand this is far from realistic with my skydiving gear though. So my question is: How can I become more familiar with my gear?? Are there books you might recomend? Will my rigger be completely annoyed if I ask for some type of "get to know your gear" seminar? I have had one reserve ride and I must say that definately helped boost my confidence in a riggers' ability. Yet I still feel a bit uneasy about jumping gear I don't fully understand. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Sometimes your the hammer sometimes your the nail. Ducky replied to deaffreeflyer's topic in Safety and Training
My DZ goes 1. Largest RW formation to smallest solos last 2. Largest FF to smallest solso last 3. AFF 4. I recently heard a DZO say that "the Weather Chanel is our worst enemy" he was so right. They rarely ever report thatits good weather for jumping when it is actually bad. All too often they report clouds n rian or such when its jumpable. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Sometimes your the hammer sometimes your the nail. Yep the weathyer sux ass here in GA. I will claim responsibility for that though. You see ever since I got my rig the weather has been rotten on the weekends. It's often times my fault when it rains. I perhaps wash my car or plan a day on the boat and poof! it rains. I usually try not to plan a day at the DZ, but ever since I got my rig it doesn't seem to matter. My family is so tone deaf we don't even sing happy birthday! BUT I can make smoke rise from a mixing board and put the meltdown on some turntables. Pretty damn good with a Microphone as an announcer/mc too. I also dance like a fool, so it's not from a lack of love for music. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. My DZ usually charges for a packing class. Primarily because it is done after hours. They employ staff packers who don'y get paid for staying late or teaching so the employee gets the $$$. I have 65 jumps and couldn't pack now if I had to. I packed my own for jumps 16-18 and not again since. Why can I not pack? Simple I just recently got my own rig (4 jumps ago) and I didn't want to bother learning on another system or canopy only to relearn on my own gear. Secondly my DZ charges per jump for gear rental which includes $5 built in for pack jobs. If you have a staff packer pack for you it's included in the rental. Even if you pack on your own the price is still the same. Furthermore you are not allowed to pack rental gear for the final pack job of the day, which is an excellent idea if you ask me. I'd hate to know someone with 15 jumps gettin checked off for their A-lic. last packed the rig I was jumping before puttin it on the rental rack. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Depends, if it was bad line twists, then it is usually the tandem student's fault, but also partly the TM's fault for not leg locking the student right before they deployed. Correct if I'm wrong here, but isn't any decent TM beyond blaming a student for problems??? I have always been under the assumption that the TM is responsible for the entire skydive. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. The band: LIVE, Album: Throwing Copper, Song: White Discussion. MY fav is the final verse, the song is written about the apocolypse... ...all this discussion though politically correct is dead beyond destruction though it leaves me quite erect and as the final sunset rolls behind the earth and the clock is finally dead i'll look at you, you'll look at me and we'll cry alot but this will be what we said this will be what we said LOOK WHERE ALL THIS TALKING GOT US BABY! I am the proud new owner of a 3 yr old Sabre and can say so far so good. Only 4 jumps on it so far though. I was aware of this reputation and had some hesitation in buying the canopy, but the first jump I put on it was the softest nicest opening I have ever had. I did spend some time kicking around on PD's website last night researching the Sabre and tips on packing it. There was a very useful article on How to Avoid Hard Openings Chesk it out and hopefully it will help. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Come on down! Atlanta is a city of transplants. You'll find many a longtime resident, but natives are more rare by the day. It's not so much that the natives have moved away just that the place has grown so amazingly that the population is saturated with peeps from every corner of the planet. That being true it may take a bit of getting used to depending on where you come from. patience for people from MANY different walks of life, nationalities, cultures even planets is key to survival here. You'll find the entertainment top notch from, sporting events to night life, big name concerts and arts alike. One great thing about Atlanta is the ease of escape. Having Delta as the home town team at the world's busiest airport you refered to affords one the luxury of some great airfares to slip back home or off for the weekend. As for DZs you'll here all the opinions and politics, I suggest just exploring for yourself and seeing what you like. Although if you end up on the North side of town Monroe will be the closest. The WORST part of Atlanta by far is the traffic. This should strongly influence where you choose to live in relation to work. What seems like any easy lil commute on weekend freeways can turn into 2 hours of hell come Monday so research is in order. I highly recommend "test driving" the route you would drive to and from work during rush hour for any perspective home before settling. As for the $650/month you mentioned for a house? forget it. A house as you mentioned will run at least $1000/month and that is on the very low end. Atlanta is the Apartment complex capitol of the south though. The apartment industry is in a horrible slump right now so you should be able to find some great deals. I have many friends and family in the biz and can help you with any questions you may regarding apartments. You should easily find move in specials even up to 2-3 months free rent upon move in right now. Proximity to the airport and safe cheap rent are tough to come by, but not impossible. Living intown is really starting to become a viable option for those a little more "adventurous". As for the women yes they have all their teeth. For many years the Female to Male ratio among peeps under 30 was 5/2, that has begun to even out, but the odds are still in our favor! I'd be glad to help you with any questions you might have regarding locations/areas etc. Just drop me a line and I'll help any way I can. Good Luck, kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Sometimes your the hammer sometimes your the nail. Question is Hun, Do you wanna get hammered or do you wanna get nailed?????

I have always thought I did this, but have become much more aware ofi it in recent times. Welcome to the nightmares of buying gear. I got jerked around so mnay times by people online that I gave up too. I finally bought from someone in person. I suggest using a reputible dealer if you can not find anything local. You MAY find a great deal from a stranger on the net. More than like ly the deal that is "too good to be true" is exactly that, a lie or a ripoff. Good luck, Kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Hmmm Last I saw this crew they were all standing fireside on Saturady night. I had to bug out due to illness/deafness. I believe there was discussion of firewalking at one point. This was of course after we all admired the timing of "sunset" load I also seem to recall Nathan saying somehting about how he was gonna "tear dat pond up" on Sunday. I am only to assume that the intermediate swoop competition never took place. Was great meeting all of you guys and hopefully we can hang long next time with better weather. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield.
