  1. Well I FINALLY got my beer rig together!
  2. Man oh man I can realte. I jumped my beer rig for the presecond time yeaterday. I was unable to jump it a second time because my ears hurt so bad. I felt a lil sick yesterday morn and just got worse as the day progressed. My hearing is just now starting to return after 2 packs of gum and every decongestant I could get my hands on. I sure as hell won't jump again with congestion. I knew this b4, but could not possibly NOT jump my rig that I been sleeping with all week. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. 3. Be forwarned if your gonna hit Eleven50 for any type of big name show it'll be a long line. Yes even more so than a typical night, and usually a $20 cover. Did I mention a Looooooooooooong line? kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Sometimes your the hammer sometimes your the nail. Who jumps at ASC?

Yo, I should be there will a lil luck. Just got my beer rig, sans a main. I am in desperate search of a 150 main that I could buy/jump THIS week or weekend in Atlanta. People at ASC know me as Chris, but my freefly is limited to a sometimes consistent sit. There is a good size crowd of resident free-fly-freaks there though. Hope to see you there. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Sometimes your the hammer sometimes your the nail. 6. "Mechanix" get my nod. They are a great choice, warm, tough and readily available at most any Autoparts store. They cost about $25 and come in a wide variety of sizes. The palm and fingers of the gloves provide for a great grip. IMHO they are better than Neumans. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. 10. Hey emartin, I jump at ASC and I caught the reference, but not sure I follow. I do know a jumper there who didn't stand a landing until his 140th or so. Just a mental block w/ slight physical hold backs. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Sometimes your the hammer sometimes your the nail. 11. Good advice... Greatfully I have no intention/desire to learn high performance landings at this tage of the game. Just better and more refined control and accuracy. I'd actually like to try some accuracy stuff someday. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Sometimes your the hammer sometimes your the nail. Keys Boogie

Have not been, BUT I did hear that require a D-license to attend. Mya want to verify, but I am pretty sure that is the case. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. 13. I suppose my point was missed again. I was/am not seeking advice about wheter or not a HopnPop filled logbook is cool or not. I was just curious how many people do. There are however benefits of having a D license sooner than later. I have never been one to think that a # or letter made one person better than another. I also have never opted for an HnP over altitude, but as I am about to have my won gear that miht change. I enjoy the canopy ride and would like to improve my canopy skills. I tend to believe that canopy skills are of most importance. I do still love freefall, but sometimes when I go to 14k for a solo where I don't learn much I question If I would have been better off doing an HnP from 5 or 6k (what my dz gives cuz the pilot tends to forget the HnPs til reminded). Anyways it's nice to hear all the different views on this topic. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Sometimes your the hammer sometimes your the nail. 14. I suppose I should alsoe mention that all 4 of mine were w/o option. Given the option I think most anyone would take the Alti. 1-required for A-lic. 3-sameday due to bad weather, we jumped insleet n snow. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. 16. Umm so again I ask peeps what % of their logged jumps are Hop n Pops??? kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Sometimes your the hammer sometimes your the nail. Question is Hun, Do you wanna get hammered or do you wanna get nailed?????
  17. As far as whether or not to do it I can form my own opinion and already have actually. It juts got me thinking about others. I would consider a HnP below 4.5k I suppose. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Sometimes your the hammer sometimes your the nail. Question is Hun, Do you wanna get hammered or do you wanna get nailed?????
  18. I was talking to someone about the new requirements for licenses effective in September ie. 500 jumps for D etc. They suggested that I perhaps make it my goal to squeeze in the 200 before then so I would already have my D. The suggestion was to just load up on Hop n Pops to help build the numbers as I satisfied other requirements. So now I am curious. How many HnPs the average jumper has? I guess it would be better to go by %. For me at 63 jumps I have 4 which works out to ~15%. How about you all?? Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. 19. Excellent point !!! Such a revolutionary idea I mean learning to survive w/o injury before perhaps learning to geek the camera in freefall?? kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. 20. As the son/brother of a few "seamtress" types I'll say you may be searching for the impossible..... That combo is a tough one, but I would certainly think you should be able to find something close. To my knowledge sewing tougher material requires tougher/larger needles which would require... you guessed tougher larger machines. You on the right track though old tough boy tabletop singers last forever. There are at least 5 or so in my family that always have been. I never recall a breakdown. Perhaps I'll ask if my sisters or mom have one they wanna part with. I would recomend garage sales and the classifieds. Another great place to look for "low-tech" appliances is a Thrift Store ie GoodWill. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Sometimes your the hammer sometimes your the nail. 21. Great question actually. I was very impressed at how cool headed I was and at my lack of hesitation. Even under the open reserve I only had one momentary "oh shit" thought. I briefly considered the dangers of my p/c half out of the pouch, but figured if I couldn't yank it out it wasn't gona fall out and cause problems. I was too busy "working" I suppose from the moment I realized there was a problem until I touched down. Proof positive to me that the training works! Once I was open and under reserve I still had to get back to the DZ or find alternatives then deal with traffic. I set down near the pond so I was watching above for the swoopers settin up etc. After I landed I took a second to actually breathe and strees a atd before gathering up the chute n lines. Then the next 30 minutes were spent answering the "what happened?" questions so no time to really reflect on it. I think only on the ride home, while recounting the events to my whuffo friend who had come to the DZ with me, did I really fully begin to absorb it all. In all it was a confidence building experience I suppose, to say it was a real Eye Opener would be a bit understated! kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. 22. I first discovered this and brought this to light several months back with a post here and an email to SSK. I Believe Michelle also alerted SSK at that time. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=194276;search_string=cypres%20ebay;#194276 I have been "lurking" and following the developments in this thread. I saw no need to assist or even post as all of you have done what seems to be a fine job of preventing these cypres from being purchased. I do however see one possible "line of fire".... As I am reading in this thread a rigger can be held responsible ie. fined for allowing these or even just out of date cypri to be jumped??? If that is true can a USPA licensed member be subject to repremand or action by the USPA for knowingly jumping gear declared "unairworthy"? I know very little about this as I am a low-time jumper. It would seem logical that there is some regulation regarding this. Imagine this scenario the "unairworthy" cypri in question is actually damaged, but is still jumped. Due to the unforseen damage the cypri fires at a not so convenient time, oh like say on the climb to alti in the plane or on the step of a 182 or in the rig of a "hanger" on a hybrid dive wrapping the belly-flyer above.... and so on. I know most everyone is aware of these dangers and that is why we are all so pissed about it. Back to my point though "line of fire". I would think there is some type of precedence or some type of USPA regulation that would hold a skydiver accountable for KNOWINGLY endangering other skydivers or even himself. Read the seller's (um I mean nutless assholes) quote from his most recent auction update>>> "For those who are wondering , yes i am a skydiver , and i am using one of these units myself ." It's right there by his own admission he has jumped/is currently jumping gear that has been declared "unairworthy" aka dangerous, useless deadly, just plain not cool. He has in fact endangerd everyone he has jumped with. I see a posssible course of action for The USPA. as for his fellow jumpers, The Karhma Gods, and myself if I could track down the lil bastard no such evidence is needed. It should be easy to reveal the true indentity of the jerk. I mean if someone actually buys this stuff he's gotta wanna get paid somehow, right?? Who know's maybe he was on that 4-way w/ you today?!? Yep think about it. One other thing I would like to add is that perhaps SSK has a slightly further responsibility here. I would think notifying riggers w/ an SB type alert is in order. Get the word out to riggers who in turn could pass along the word to unsuspecting jumpers. Most often those looking to buy used online are like myself low-time jumpers on a budget not knowing much better. Anyways that's my rant. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. 24. There is a really kewl clothing store here in ATL with some freak ass threads. I was in there last week and they sell an orange jump suit with Department of Corrections on it. I considered buying it to jump it in, but it was BIG. I also considered the not so found memories it would bring back. Yes I wore one for a short period once. kwak Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield. Sometimes your the hammer sometimes your the nail. 25. So there I was 12 seconds from death ... Uggggh no, Discalimer: Sorry guys this is long, but I didn't wanna skip a detail as it is still fresh in mind. I learned amazing amounts today and hope other's will from this. So here I sit owing a a case o beer.... My first reserve ride. Jump number 63 for me, a jump I casually proclaimed would be my "Last Rental Gear Jump" on the walk to the plane. I have finally found a new to me beer rig to be delivered Wednesday!!!!
