    I'd suggest demoing[if possible] several different makes/models of canopies including Safire2 and as Jumperconway suggests,defenately put the mighty CF2 on that list.ENJOY! .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

    Depends on how well you learnt to fly your previous canopy.If you learnt well certain skills will transfer over.Note:practice high first to get a feel for your new canopy and get those survival skills nailed i.e flat turns.etc .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

    I've jumped both crossfire1&2.the main differencss between the two IMHO is that the 2 is A.much more sensitive to harness input.B.produces v.fast toggle turns[comparable to stilletto]C.both canopies have long recovery arcs.Presently jumping a CF2 at 1.7. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

    Have you considerred the"WISE"option secondhand gear can be 1.Safe,freefly friendly 2.Look koolll! 3.Leave you with cash to spend on jumping which inturn allows you to increase your canopy/freefall skills ultimately enabling you to be v.cool .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

    Have a look at the"Parachutes de France" LEGEND, very good rig..safe,freefly friendly and most important,looks kooll.Long waiting list though.or consider something 2nd hand always a wise if not sooo kool option if your just off student status. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

    I've never really experienced any RW.[Not unless you count Aff]but after 60jumps total,after practicing/perfecting [minds eye]back loops,front loops and learning to barrel roll in a track i was fortunate enough to take advantage of quality/reputable coaching in the dark arts, an approach i've continued to persue throughout my jumping life. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

    I used to also jump a coed 170,it was my first canopy after qualifying.[kept for 100+ jumps or so] I can only agree with you in saying it was never the best flaring canopy out there,in fact i used to say landing it was a black art.however i did find taking half a wrap on the toggles would be enough to generate that much needed extra lift to keep me on my feet.tough a short sprint/surf was often required especially on nil wind days. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

    James mate,give jessops a try,when i brought my lens it also reqiured a reducer to fit the wide angle to the stock lens,although not a IP5/7 i distinctly remember there being a heap of different sizes available.Alternately a small/friendly engineering firm could make you one if push came to shove . This option may prove costly.Plan B get a pc8/9 cheaper to buy and so are the dv tapes.... .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

    3xi've dialed 999[uk emergency number]all crime related,and once whilst visiting the states i dialed 911 as i'd mislaid/forgotten where i'd left the hire car.Fortunately i'd soberred up by the time the cops arrived. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

    Unfortunately they don't export to the states!But if you or a friend is travelling to europe you could pick up an Atom Legend made by Parachutes de france.***Said it before,say it again.Probably the best freefly container on the market.Nice price.Beware,hell of a waiting list. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

    In my no doubt whatsoever totally non biased opinion,i believe the Parachutes De France Atom Legend to be the finest no bull freefly container on the market and i don't even jump one,but the Atom Millenium is also good which i do jump.. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
