Remembering September 11th (From the PD Blog)
skyh2omedic replied to klingeme's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Very, Very nice. Koodos to all. Professional Inspirational Can't wait to see the video. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go" -
In the midwest one learns to make the weather their friend-ie ripstick races on the runway. Ice you can have-but the skimpy outfit sounds good. Beer always is good. I'm counting the days too. The kids from Cramer hall are stoked too. I'm thinking we might actually have more folks this time than in June. Sounds like both planes will be cranking. Hoping we can talk Jesse into night jumps-not much of a moon-ought to make the stars look good. Lang Creek Brewery sent some "Skydiver Blonde" posters-they are cool. Have you heard of any other sponsors. Still looking for bandana verbage. They go to the printer next week. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"

That's the plane-now find a picture of it being jumped is where i'm stumped at. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"

Skimpy outfits for girls-yes anything that furthers that is good for a theme. Who knows it's kansas so ice in September is not unheard of and could continue our weather theme-we had tornados last time and for the alumni boogie last year we had 30-40mph winds steady so ice is a possibility. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
-
There needs to be some theme-have we been on thin ice? I say a late year luau or another ABC party with the Strutt Brothers providing sounds, throw in a bon fire and make use of the captain's handyman skills-fill the fridge and chill the keg. Will there be night jumps? "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"

Shaun, What's the latest? Here is what i found out and heard today. Residents of Cramer Hall from the University of Missouri and some students from the University of Central Missouri will be invading. Some girls of Delta Gamma from MU as well. Is this a Missouri invasion? That's what some are calling it. I see state flags going up. The hog has been ordered. What is the party theme for Saturday night and who is providing entertainment? ROAD TRIP! NY to SoCal Suggestions, Please!
skyh2omedic replied to meatbomb's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Stop by Kstate Parachute Club in Wamego Kansas. Just 9 miles off of I-70. Great vibe. If you are on the road the 27/28 then Team Fastax will be there for the "No Tornado Boogie" "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go" -
Does anyone know of any pictures of the military (I know AF PJ's did) jumping from a SA 16 aircraft. They would probably be from the 60' or 70's time frame. Bonus points if they were PJ's from Ramey AFB in Puerto Rico 1969-1973. Thanks "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"

Done-good luck "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"

Shaun, Talked to the Les and he said we could bring his smoker as well so if the club wanted to do ribs like we did in spring 07 i think we could smoke enough slabs for everyone. We can also do another hog if you prefer. Probably should make a decision this week so we can order the meat. I have had some folks ask about entertainment. What are the plans. We also had smile from the hottest 50yo (Les's wife) in Missouri and she may join us and make a tendem. Lucky TI's. Captain sent out a link to our you tube site-hopefully some will post their videos from the spring boogie. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"

Funny stuff you or other jumpers have done
skyh2omedic replied to chrismgtis's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Back in the days when hazing was not as public and we had this little thing called a "Prop Blast party" for our "Cherry" jumpers in the army-i'm sure some on here can chime in with some good stories. I'm not saying it was right, but i'm glad i went through it. I do remember one particular SF unit i was in had a habit of handing a Cherry or young jumper the business end of a static line or a cut stactic line piece as they approached the door-kinda gives new meaning to pucker factor when you think you may not be hooked up. Or things like convincing the load on a 130 to wake up a team sleeping with bailout bells. When i was stationed at Benning school for boys i remember one night where we harnessed and kicked some drunk/passed out collegues off the 34' towers. The Hillbilly in me invokes the response "harder than woodpecker lips" The cultured side of me says awesome. I love seeing our sport portrayed in a professional manner and i do believe that seeds are planted with the youngster when they see these demo's. It was a pleasure to meet John last time and i look forward to visiting with him again. I remember in 88 when i went and watched the Nationals in Muscogee, Ok. The friends i took were amazed that anyone could compete as well as the access to world champions-few sports have this. In the early 80's i use to watch the GK and others at Raeford. Cheryl Stearns was making press in those days-especially in the accuracy world. GB Parachute club use to have an annual leapfest-i jumped in it in 84. 4 team members MC-1B from a Huey, 4 memeber team for accuracy. 31 teams that yr-we took 26th but it was a blast to be there and compete with the who's who in those days. Hopefully our weather will be good this time and we really get to crank some loads. Have some repeat tandems coming. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"

In my opinion in order to have a successful relationship these three things must be present. 1. Love 2. Trust 3. Respect Anyone of these missing and the relationship will fail. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"

When i started this jump from plane stuff and old jumpmaster said "if you want the ultimate thrill then you have to take the ultimate risk" Parenting is the toughest job and it is the most rewarding. Non stop humor, tears, worries, laughs, memories and a full range of emotions. Mine are 20 and 18-Give them roots and give them wings and enjoy everyday. If i could line the stars up right and do it again i'd have six. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"

If you get a chance grab some friends, your favorite beverages and head out to a corn maze some evening-they are also fun. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"

Ok get the list started. We have OK guy coming. Tonight a straw poll showed that there will be a sector of Missouri folks coming with Sorority girls from UCM and MU coming and camping. The data girl from Lee Summit will be looking for a tandem ride as well. Of couse some of us from the Climbing group will show. Hopefully this time our tents will survive (although watching the tornado form was pretty damn cool). Then of course a couple of car loads from Warrensburg will be there. Are Emma and the WP instructor gonna make it? Any Hodjas? Rumor has it that there will be another girls record attempt. What's the moon doing-can we get a night jump in? Who's providing entertainment Saturday night? You know jumping from a plane with the call sign "Patriot One" Just makes the ole member harder than woodpecker lips. How about them K-State girls back from summer vacation-maybe we need another plane-sounds like the turnout will be a great event to close out our summer jumping season. Are the hillbilly boys smoking ribs? Can't wait. Shaun you and your team are kicking ass-bring it on and build it and (they) we'll come. Amanda Sue Gerry Les Beth Marissa Lauren Tom Bill Emily Doug Lisa Bill Jessica Brooke Brock Lloyd Billie Samantha Brian Lisa Kat Melissa A couple of PJ's add your name and invite someone "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"

Great for shade. Seen them used for ops and pleasure alot at Bragg. Last one i seen used for shade was at Leapfest in 84 on Bragg. Would love to have one if you ever decide to get rid of it. Probabl;y some others on here that can remember the pole combination borrowed from GP Med/larges we used to use. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go" -
If you are in our neighborhood by all means stop in. www.skydivekstate.com We are a small college club, you will laugh and feel at home. Jump prices are good to. Have fun in your travels and hit as many DZ's as you can. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"

I'm curious and would like to gain some informal information for future discussion purposes. How many skydivers out there work in the public safety sector and in which states. Such as Firefighters, Medics, Lifeguards, SAR personnel, Wildland FF's, etc.? Thanks in advance for your input. Have a safe day out there.
