A friend of mine hit a buzzard in an Agusta helicopter while he was doing about 140 kts, it came through the co-pilots windshield and ended up unassembled over his rear seat passengers (they were less than impressed). It smelt quite badly too, although that may have been due to the contents of his shorts, rather than the contents of the bird.

Will be based in Beaumont most of the time and probably College Station.

Well its that time again, after 2 months off, my company has sent me back to Southeast Texas. If anyone wants to meet up let me know, i will have the helicopter so you never know........
-
Well there were mitigating circumstances but yes i did run into it.Still we all lived so that and the lesson learned is the main thing.
-
You may be better off going to an FAA doctor, you can get a list of them from any local flight school.Hypoxia affects diiferent people in different ways and at very different altitudes.

Not sure what a wingover is,at least not in terms of canopy flight, but i did just what you described under my old Sabre 170.It turned instantly into 5 line twists and i just about sh@t myself. Not sure if i was just unlucky or very stupid, still it was a lesson learned.

This is not the first time it has been hinted at.But in my defence i fly 500's full time for a powerline maintenance company I.E in and arround high voltage transmission lines so sooner or later these things will happen,i fly around 1000 hours a year,so the odds will catch up with me .Having said that, the hitting the line thing might have been my fault, not that anyone will ever get me to admit it.
-
This is true, i ran one into a powerline back in march and it made it through ok,well a few dents, one new blade, new swash plate,windshield......anyway not my best day. Very embarrasing.Took alot of #$%@ for that one.But they are the best helicopter in my opinion.

In reply to: "Ever been in a helicopter that lost an engine...their glide ratio sucks!" Actually i have and i would rather be in a helicopter than in a twin just after take-off with a full load and lose one engine.I had an engine fail in a Hughes 500 at 150 feet in a hover and managed to get it down. Acording to the book its not possible but let me tell you, if you are scared enough anything can happen. hmmm ....... did need to change my shorts though

This is why Helicopters dont scare me as much as Airplanes do.

Loads happened to me. Got a new rig: That was good Got a promotion:That was good Got paid more:That was good Crashed a helicopter(ooops): That was bad Friend was killed falling from helicopter(not skydiving)(not my heicopter):That was bad So not sure if it was a good or bad year but it was never boring.
-
There is actually nothing wrong with learning with a new instructor, they may not know all the little tricks , but they will probably be upto date on the latest regs etc. Also they will probably be very keen and willing to spend more time with you.i taught for quite along time ,but now i dont have to do it anymore, just intercompany stuff.By the way who will be at Perris over the holidays?
-
I found also that having a licence and several thousand landings helped my canopy flight alot.Didnt do s@#^&t for my freefalling ,im still retarded at that.
-
Well i have the whole month off with pay so where should i go and what should i do?? Any suggestions?
-
Yes they do,I ordered my new Vector through them, they were the cheapest by far and tolerated my repeated stupid questions, when the rig arrived and didnt look quite as planned,Tony made sure everything was squared away asap.
