My personal test as to whether I'm in space or not is "are my eyeballs boiling?" If they are boiling, I'm in space. -

Of course her ability to use a breast pump or breast feed or walk around shirtless in public should be protected. That doesn't really disprove or negate a single thing I've written, but I'm sorry she had to endure that. The fact that you're playing white knight only proves my point.

Nope, but it seems like most women expect that of their S.O. I'm hoping I'll meet one that *genuinely* doesn't one day. dude, you're doing something wrong. Compare notes with shah - be sure to do the opposite of whatever it is that you two have been doing. Maybe it's about selection - stop picking gold diggers. I have to be trying to date someone in order to 'do something wrong.' I don't think Shah and I have much in common. It's not just about the blatant 'gold diggers.' It's about the inherent assumptions and expectations that most women have about how men need to act and what they need to achieve in life or provide to them in order to be considered a 'real man.' I feel no urge to be judged by a woman to validate myself. I'm perfectly fine on my own and have no need to expose myself to that arbitrary criticism. As you said above, you're perfectly happy with the current state of the 'battle of the sexes.' I don't doubt it! lol

It's not controversial. I think almost everyone I know would agree that both sexes should be treated equal. I guess we just have different definitions of 'equal.'

Haha, nope...dating is for suckers Is your apparent disgust for women based on some experience in your life? I absolutely do not have disgust for women. I have a problem with how our society teaches women to think, especially in relation to men. If anything I feel bad for women that they have to navigate this social climate where they are taught to have disgust for men. I realize these are massive generalizations. It doesn't apply to every single person. My opinions are partially based on personal experience and observations of others, but I didn't come up with this stuff. It's other peoples' ideas that I agree with. All I'm saying is both sexes should be treated equally. I don't really get why that's so controversial. You seem like you just want to reflexively maintain your privileged position. I gave up on dating because of simple cost/benefit analysis. It's a rigged game. I refuse to demean myself by groveling to women and buying them stuff. I've done it enough to know it's a waste of time and I'm not doing it anymore.

I think we can at least agree that nowadays women are generally no longer expected to play that 'traditional' role you're talking about, but men are still expected to be a supporter/provider. Men unable or unwilling to perform this role are generally not viewed as marriageable. Strange double standard.

Pulse...you can exit first, pull low, and still land last, but you will piss off the tandems.

I would rather stay home with the kids in that ludicrous scenario, but what need is there to retain these arbitrary traditional roles? Why is that ludicrous? Don't your children need or deserve a full-time parent? Dividing labor based solely on sex is ludicrous. One parent at home full time is good for the kids, but it doesn't need to be framed by gender. Why do you assume women are better suited to stay at home? We need to eliminate traditional assumptions from the equation.
-
No, I don't think I can agree with such a broad statement. I bet we could agree there's a lot of whining going on in this thread. Grow a pair, boys...you're only showing that these commercials have you pegged right. If you're going to try to shame us into submission you could at least provide a little substance. Feminists have been whining for 100 years and you don't hear us telling them to "grow a pair." Why don't you grow a pair?

I think we're missing the forest for the trees here...it's really not just about tv or the media. Or the law for that matter. It's about real life. It's about relationships. Ask yourself, what expectations are placed on men and what expectations are placed on women? Most women expect too much and have too little to offer. Women are taught from birth that they are special little snowflake princesses while men are taught they need to man up and just deal with shit. Women are human beings. Men are reduced to human doings. Men are taught from day 1 that their wants, needs, and feelings don't matter and should be suppressed. This served an evolutionary then a societal need in the past. We don't need it anymore. People should be treated the same way and have the same expectations regardless of their gender. People should stop coddling women and working just to impress them or they will continue to take advantage. Women's unrealistic demands have only gotten more out of control. They want to have their cake, eat it, then eat yours, then kick you out and continue to receive cake. No thank you. A vaginal orifice is by no means worth a lifetime of cake.

Right...nobody is. no one in the men's rights movement I'm referring to..stop trying to cram in your religious dogma..we don't need it
-
No question about it...media is evil, and there is currently an attack against men and family in general. Christians have been warning against this for a long time, but you people don't wanna hear about THAT! check mate... yea sure checkmate...no one is saying we should revert to a primitive "traditional" lifestyle which was/is oppressive to both sexes...far from it
-
So we're all in agreement then. There's a bias against men both on tv and in real life.
-
I guess it's no different than the majority of women being portrayed as sexy shah style... Yea because complimenting someone is the same thing as ridiculing them.
-
Women are coddled in our society from birth to death while boys and men are essentially thrown to the wolves. Try thinking about it critically and not just reciting tired old excuses.
-
The Western woman has jumped the shark. Worn out, she looks around and asks "where have all the good men gone?" They're done with the game. They've gone their own way.
-
Hmm well I'd like to marry and have kids some day, but given the state of family law I'll never be able to do it. I'd adopt instead, but I'm not allowed to do that as a man. Hell I can't even date anymore. Too expensive! If I ever get arrested my penalty will be much harsher than a woman's. Are these real enough examples for you?
-
Exactly...we are apparently a nation of Homer Simpsons.
-
True, but we have to begin by changing the awareness and perception of men. Most people aren't even aware of these issues. The notion that "men are people too" is somehow controversial. If you want specific laws, we can start with completely overhauling family law and eliminating the bias against men in our criminal courts, schools, and workplaces. If the genders are going to be equal under the law we need to get gender considerations out of law completely. While we're at it, let's put women on the front lines. That should cut down on war.
