  1. You do know not that much about guns/handguns/calibers, do you) Have a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.22_Long_Rifle Cal. .22 LR often is used for close season hand guns/guns. That guy used a Walther P22. Please show us that 22 millimeter pistol, Christel. I wasn't aware the Walther made a pistol with a bore of almost an inch. On the topic of "bore", your entire debate over an obvious typo fits the bill perfectly. It wouldn't have gone this long if christalsebine hadn't refused to admit she was wrong. Regardless of whether I was being sarcastic or not in my OP (hint: I was, as evidenced by the reference to Danny Vermin's ".88 Magnum" that "shoots through schools"), she took up the mantle of arguing that there is indeed a "22 millimeter caliber" handgun. Don't condemn us for the debate when the debate would not be going on but for her intransigence when presented with disproof of her assertion. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  2. And yet if that 18-year-old went to join the military and was trained to fly jets faster than the speed of sound, and drop 1000 lb. bombs on human beings and buildings, you'd say "OK," right? Or do you have an objection 18-year-old adults joining the military? You don't want them owning guns. You don't object to them flying jets, skydiving, drinking alcohol (isn't most of Europe 18+ for alcohol?), driving automobiles... and voting to elect leaders. But you don't like them having guns at 18. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  3. The ".40 S&W" cartridge is indeed a cut-down version of the 10mm, which was beating the shit out of guns that were built for the 9mm cartridge way back when in the '80s, I believe. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  4. We're just trying to educate someone who is just recalcitrant in her wrongness. NOT our fault that the thread gets spent trying to make her understand something that "even the dumbest reader" should grasp immediately. She just appears to not want to be proven wrong. The sad thing is that of everyone, ONLY SHE will not see that it has already happened. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  5. It's from Jeffrey's link. JR is incorrect: The gun was not "listed as a 22-millimeter". It's described as "a 22 mm caliber handgun", which is quite common. At least for me.
  6. You do know not that much about guns/handguns/calibers, do you) Cal. .22 LR often is used for close season hand guns/guns. That guy used a Walther P22. Actually, he does - that's why he's questioning the news story which lists the gun as a 22-millimeter, which can't be correct - no such handgun exists. It's the news story which got the identification of the caliber incorrect, not birdlike. You apparently don't know the difference between millimeters and caliber. Are you kidding me? What is to be misunderstood in the word "... calibre ...." handgun? Why the fuck would you choose to dig yourself deeper, here? I linked to the article, and quoted from it. The quote said, "22-millimeter caliber." People have done you the courtesy of explaining why YOU were wrong and I was right, and still you are disputing this even though you are clearly wrong. It is so much fun to watch you do this to yourself. Carry on.
  7. You do know not that much about guns/handguns/calibers, do you) Cal. .22 LR often is used for close season hand guns/guns. That guy used a Walther P22. You don't know much about reading what was written, do you. Nice going. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  8. Quote: "The Finnish news agency STT said the school building was on fire and the gunman reportedly had explosives on him."Loonies and explosives toy rocket engines don't mix. Fixed it. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  9. Yes. Now go back to sleep. That's what you want, isn't it: for everyone who is smart enough to question the bullshit rhetoric of Obama to just snooze right on through the election. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  10. Who cares? He picked a VP who is totally doable, and that's all that really matters. Joe Biden is "totally doable"? Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

  12. I firmly believe that if it were not for the NRA (and the "ILA") you simply would not have a right to keep and bear arms--period. They ask for gobs of money because they need gobs of money -- to counter the bullshit lies that lead to "assault weapons bans," registration schemes (like Canada's $2B debacle), and to foster support for shall-issue concealed carry laws and Castle Doctrine laws, the latter of which are found in 40 states now. This is supposed to happen without donations of money to the cause? George Soros gives plenty to the ANTI-gun cause. Why should you begrudge the NRA needing members' donations?? 13. Do you know who Walter Annenberg is? Only those to the right of Ghengis Khan would call him "leftist". Of all the informative things piper had in her post you chose to reply to that point. Talk about Cherry Picking. Or, you could say, "Talk about 'GOT NOTHIN'!' " Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

  15. Uh, no. In order to have a ban on hunting, one would need to justify it rationally, not base it simply on a juvenile vendetta. And this probably started with an asshat-inspired attempt to ban these guys from being free to hunt in the first place. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  16. Loonies and guns don't mix. I don't know squat about Finnish gun laws, and don't have the time or inclination right now to look it up. But I have a suspicion that in Europe it's a lot closer to your fantasy about having all the mental health records and vetting available before a gun is sold to a "loonie," Kallend. And still this guy got one. The police had him in custody related to his posting of his target shooting practice. They let him go. Why? Did he seem to be a loonie or not? If he was there with the police and they couldn't see that he was a loonie, what other records check could have kept him from getting a gun? Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  17. No, I went further when I said that perhaps the reason behind the photo was to jam it up PETA's ass, because it's possible--nay, likely--that PETA has interfered with them, harassed them, possibly even engaged in intimidation or sabotage. I can see why they may have a hard-on against PETA. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  18. Then why did the guy agree to pay a fucking thing if he believed he was protected by bankruptcy? I was told that if you have a bill that goes to collection, when they call you and ask you to, "Just send us $10 to get started, to show us good faith that you're gonna pay," that ends up constituting a capitulation that you do acknowledge that the debt is yours. I think this guy acknowledged that he believed he owed this money, when he paid anything at all. Besides, why can't the court look at this guy as the THIEF and make it hard for HIM instead of hard for his VICTIM?! Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  19. I thought the Europeans were not plagued by the problems that we cowboy-Americans suffer... Shooting in Finnish school This part has me wondering... "She says the man used a 22-millimeter caliber handgun in Tuesday's attack. Holmlund says he got the license for the gun in August.." WTF is a "22-millimeter caliber handgun"?! .866 CALIBER??!! Well, it's not an .88 Magnum, at least. We know that the .88 shoots through schools; this .866 shot within one, so at least people outside the school weren't endangered. 20. The gist that I get is that the thief filed for bankruptcy two months before the judgment went against him, so that when the judgment found for the guy he ripped off and ordered the thief to pay him back, he was supposed to be protected against that by the bankruptcy filing and thus gets reimbursed for money he paid to the victim of the theft after the judgment was made. Well, if he is now saying that he should get back the money he paid his victim because he was supposed to be protected at that time by the bankruptcy filing, why the fuck did he pay any money at all?! It's lookin' like Poveromo's only recourse might end up being to have this fuckin' piece of shit whacked! Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  21. I guess I agree with you. I don't hunt but I do support hunting; and I think that those folks should probably just do what they're going to do (hunt) without feeling the need to make a juvenile point about it. However... These may be people who have been hounded, harassed, and otherwise victimized by the maniac zealots at PETA (and there is no getting around it; that is what they are). We have no way of knowing, but it's possible that these are people whom PETA really did stuff to fuck over. Maybe PETA really was asking for it. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

  23. I take it your not a hunter? no, i tried to develope a small penis obsession to enable me to, but sadly i couldn't Aaaaand the first obsessive-compulsive comment about penises comes, of course, from an anti-hunter. Wish I could say I was surprised. What is it with people who don't like guns or hunting, and their utter absorption with our penises??! Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  24. What type of person would not fear someone with her attitudes and beliefs running the country?!? Um, someone who's not, in general, fearful. Someone who recognizes that the vice president does not wield the power of an emperor. I dunno. I suppose it's either that team wins, or your cult wins. I have seen some people up here on Nantucket who are such glassy-eyed robots for Obama that it is, actually, sort of terrifying. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  25. I disagree. I am in the "little box" into which I describe myself (not "put" myself) because that's what makes sense to me. If things come around to make me feel like changing my views, whether it be events or experiences, I will change them. Until then, I am what I describe. What's the problem with that? Why do you feel that to describe oneself is to chain oneself to always being that way? And even if we accept that that's what it means, why is it wrong to want to always be what you will always think is right? Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
