Absolutely NoWay that money was buried there - Talk to Ingram and you will find all he did was take his little 10 yr old hand across the sand - he was not digging. It was just below the surface approx 3 inches. If it was buried there - a lot more of the bills would have been found. They use 1979 technology on the testing of those bills and todays technology will show something very different. Note: that Ingram has one of the bills on auction at this time. You need to stop the charade and look at this logically as independent experts have. The money was buried there. You don't have packs of 20's making their way down the Washoughal(sp?) over time and then somehow randomly packing themselves together at Tena's bar. It just doesn't work. The forensic work on the condition of the bills also supports this. These bills did not rough and tumble down the Washoughal or any other trib, they'd have been reduced to rubble, pure and simple. The Washoughal (sp?) or any similar theory of transport is by and large ridiculous. B.

Very little chance the money washed down stream with what is known about the Ingram find. No Hydrologist needed. And..."very little" is an understatement at that. Not only is there evidence to support this, there is also something known as basic human logic. I never cease to be amazed how readily you can hire someone who is purported to be an "expert" to support whatever you want. The money at Tena's bar was buried there. B.

Interesting. I wonder where Tosaw got the information in his book, you don't suppose he did something Himmelsbach didn't...like interview the FA's? As the investigation goes, the grudge could very well be against the FAA.
-
Didn't he also say at one point "I'll show them"??
-
It was, and as mentioned above, it is believed that Calame knows that McCoy is not Cooper as whenever you have crimes with similar MO's you investigate them. The FBI has conclusive evidence that McCoy is not Cooper. One of the passages in that book places McCoy in Las Vegas just about 5-6 hours before the Cooper heist by credit card receipt. Therefore he's got 5 hours to go almost a 1000 miles and pull of a heist over unfamiliar territory and be back in time for turkey dinner. McCoy is not Cooper.

Doesn't fit which sketch ???

I can, not that it's all that important. What's important is that the FBI (ckret?) not make the mistake of past investigators. Regardless of whether or not this case remains unsolved, it is imperative that the BUREAU run through this investigation by the numbers, and not make silly statements WRT the stated profile and tolerance, and elimination of suspects thereon. B.

Fact: 35 Years have passed and not a single LOGICAL suspect. The same investigator ruled over this case for over 10 years and then some in retirement, possibly steering the case. A very logical suspect has been written off like laundry w/o so much as an inquisition and he not only has a criminal record, he has no alibi for the date at hand and has lied about his alibi. The FBI has not even lifted a finger on this suspect. His 74' picture matches the Unsolved Mysteries sketch , not only in stature, but even the "bozo" crest of balding. For whatever reason, the FBI does not consider him a suspect, nor does it seem they will "investigate" and "eliminate" if it turns out he had nothing to do with this case. Why don't we take one thing at a time, and not "pigeon hole" Mayfield as a suspect until he's been properly investigated? Does it not bother anyone else that Mayfield was a friend of Himmelsbach, and that to this day he's never been investigated? Even if innocent, shouldn't this have been done? B

Ckret, I've been told by many, that the condition of that money and where it was found shows unmistakably that it was were it was buried for a long....long time. The "Washoughal journey" just doesn't pan out, and I don't know of anyone worth a salt who supports that theory. Sounds like more "Himmelsbach" to me. Why are you so rigidly "fixed" on the profile? Don't you think it's time that profile was relaxed in the interest of solving the case? B.

He's gotten away with quit a bit. Stealing a plane across state lines, armed robbery . ( he did serve time! ) several jump school students "buying the farm". No reason whatsoever to consider him Cooper. Lied about his ailbi on national TV. Florence Schaffner positively ID'ing him. Nothing like having a buddy like Himmelsbach!! That's for sure. If I had one of those, I'd rob fort Knox! Brendini

Larry, Please, don't do this. We all know who the most logical suspect is. We all know how embarrassing this is to the FBI and Himmelsbach, who personally knew him. When are you going to do the right thing? Brenda
-
So much for the Washoughal theory! Definitely buried there. Why has the most logical suspect NEVER been investigated? Brenda

Quote Skyjack71 has finally tipped over her "King" and forfeited the chess match and stood up before a crowd and said: "My name is Josephine Webber, and I've been a fraud for over 7 years." /Applause/ The AA/Addiction/Compulsion/fraud crowd responds by saying "welcome Josephine". Brenda

By your own omission Duane wasn't a very good criminal and his MO was petty thievery. So we're supposed to believe that w/o ever having jumped out of a plane he pulled off the Cooper heist? Yes, it's closed. One could say it was never really opened. Someone pestered the retired lead investigator of the Cooper case until he finally called the FBI. They responded with minor due diligence, but the FBI wasn't'/isn't really interested. Yes of course. I suppose you weren't supposed to have seen the sunglasses or have been so keen as to have noticed the 8-track case under the camping table in post ...uh I believe it's #145. It would really have been eerie if one of those cars had actually been a Chevy rather than Chryslers. Hmmphhhh....Hawwww. Yes of course. That was DEFINITELY his ticket from the heist. I applaud your search for the "TRUTH". Yes this answers many questions, especially for those that might not know you. You could say it's kinda' like a peacock showing it's feathers. One thing about a woman's intuition, it could sometimes be wrong about a man, but it's almost never wrong about the same. Brenda

What I'm a gonna' do. I'm a gonna' take me a big deep breath an' hold it...an' hold it.....an' hold it until..... This way, i'll either explode, or be too out of breath to be disappointed. Brenda

I believe one of the two Oregonians have shown Duane's picture to Florence, along with McCoy's and it was rejected. Aside from the fact that you've failed to produce one iota of evidence that Duane is Cooper this should pretty much close the door on the matter of "truth" dont'cha think? Our neighbor who taught my hubby to sky dive has over 1800 jumps to his credit. He's 69 tomorrow and I consider him to be about a 1 in a million suspect. Likewise, I consider Duane to be about a 1 in a billion suspect. No one is ever going to pursue our neighbor who could possibly have jumped out of this plane. Duane is nothing but a dream, designed to setup the widow for life with either a book or movie deal. Truth? TRUTH?? Sky, when are you going to accept reality that Duane is nothing short of a con man and impostor with no meat on the bone? P.S. Sky...do not send me more PM's asking me for forgiveness and pity for your health or financial situation. It's time to deliver. No more nonesense. Sorry but my "collection basket" pity has been spent. Brenda

Oh I'm pretty sure the case is and can be freely discussed as this is a free country we live in. We're all adults here, and I don't think we need Santa's approval on this one. Forgive me, but I don't see much relevance in the 302's as they would probably reveal what we already know and have discussed. That being that witnesses can be very unreliable. Or are you inferring that because something is released under FOIA and is on a 302 that it's fact, and anything other than someone's statement? It's been said of the legal prfession, that often the MO is nothing more than "shoveling smoke". Somehow I don't think they have exclusivity on this one. Brenda

Florence Schaffner states clearly on the 80's Unsolved Mysteries episode that not only do the widely circulated sketches not look like Cooper, but that he had a "broad forehead". This was why she agreed to work with the sketch artist hired by UM on a new sketch. BTW...that sketch looks nothing like Duane. Brenda

I'll answer that. No NEVER. If he was 5'8" you MUST eliminate! There were too many stellar witnesses. Let's face it it's not like this case has been UNSOLVED for like 36 years.......right? If CKret is definately an ex-FBI agent, and I'm hoping for national security he's not....we really have to up our standards. I know they don't make much, but we've just got to do better! I'm speaking for our tax dollars ...no offense...;). Brenda

This is a mistake. There are really only 3 people who got a cognizant look at Cooper and 2 that I know of that are reliable. When asked, anyone wanting to help out would/might try to give a description when the fact is they weren't really paying attention. Case in point is Mitchell the student, who got a better look at Cooper than anyone but the 2-maybe 3-flight attendants, but didn't pay attention because he was paying more attention to Tina, and like the rest of the passengers didn't know the plane was being jacked. It's more logical that anyone who might have seen him but didn't pay attention would describe him has 5'10-6'0 medium build than anything else. Why not? It's about as generic and safe a description as there is, especially when you're not sure. Human nature is often to help out, and sometimes it's better to just say "I don't know" if that's the case. Tina never showed Cooper how to lower the aft stairs. Cooper had suggested he would need this information, but figured it out himself w/o Tina's help. I'll be interested to hear this. Brenda

These are *NOT* "Facts", they are observations, and they are subject to human error. The minute you assume they are "facts" and they are absolutely accurate and hold to a rigid profile, and eliminate suspects because of it, you're formulating a recipe for an unsolved case. I suppose you'll tell us that it's a "fact" that cooper looked like either of the FBI sketches. Why then did Florence have to work on a re-sketch for Unsolved Mysteries? Seems you need to do a little homework. Brenda

What kind of "expert" would the [null set] for jumps in [null set] years make you? How about in your own Walter Mitty mind? Brenda

Fair enough J.B., respected member no doubt, but how can you be so sure? Profile? Inside information? Just to give you an example, Skyjack71 told me in a PM that Ted "told her he wasn't Cooper" and she all but implied that that should be good enough for me. Did he tell you the same thing? Have you ever wondered if he's ever chopped down a cherry tree? What would he have told 'ol Pop? Speak to me please. Brenda...wife of an avid skydiver!

Well 196....for starters she's sent me several PM's one of which she asked me, among other things, to write her personal memoirs, not that it's any of your business. I'm only mentioning this publicly because some people with shoe sizes larger than their IQ still have to flap their jaws to show their stupidity. Does that answer your question? Brenda
