"I've never heard the word tuition used that way, but it was the right word... http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/tuition (definition 2). British people talk funny! " Ha ha. What gave it away? What made you decide I am British! Good guess though. Thanks Freefallphil.

Hi, Thanks for replies and support. My instructor said that it would be fine for me to do half turns as low as 50 feet. I just remember seeing a poster warning of the hazards of late turns and it stuck in my head. I thought that if you do a late sharp turn you would basically nose dive? Is that right? I will go over this with my instructors again (who are great). Thanks Thanks Freefallphil.

Hi, I've just done 6 jumps into the RAPS course. I'm really keen to learn more and more and this site is great, however I could do with something visual. Does anyone know of any online skydiving tuition? Thanks Freefallphil.

Hi, I'm just 6 jumps into this ace sport (RAPS). Recently I posted aout landing on concrete two jumps ago. Last weekend I got another jump in and was told to go up without a radio for the first time. I was nerous (because of last jump) but did it. On the way down I was really determined just to hit grass! Coming down to about 300 I needed to turn into wind and towards the DZ. However I was worried about making a late turn too low down. I carried on and just aimed for a nice bit of grass. When is it too late to turn on a student canopy? Thanks Freefallphil.

5th RAPS jump complete but winter arriving?!
buba07 replied to buba07's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi, I've just completed my 5th jump on the RAPS course. I'm just one dummy pull away from my first free fall. I really want to progress but i'm worried that I wont get chance to jump over winter? I've been to the DZ quite a lot over summer and had to wait for clouds to clear or wind to drop. Will this be a problem over winter? I juts can't see myself being able to progress with the weather we get? (UK!) Thanks Freefallphil. -
Cheers Sraja, When you didn't flare wasn't that a really rough landing? I think my last jump reminded me that focus is needed at all times. I suppose the sport is like learning to drive a car? Cant wait for wednesday (next jump - weather permitting!) I'll be back to post progress - thanks again. Thanks Freefallphil.

Great advice, and changed my frame of mind. Thanks a lot. Thanks Freefallphil.

Hi, I'm four jumps into my RAPS course. I've completely fallen for this sport however in my last landing I mis judged it and was forced to come down on a concrete section of land. Being a student I inevitably ended up on my backside and it was painfull! When is the best indication / time to flare as I see all the skydivers and they just swoop into a standing landing? Thanks Thanks Freefallphil.

Hi everyone, I'm one dummy pul away from my first free fall (RAPS). The last jump I did I started to get a bit worried. Is this normal? Before that I had just totally buzzed doing static lines. Will the first free fall be completely differant? Are these normal feelings? Thanks. Thanks Freefallphil.

Great advice and a great forum. Cheers to both of last posters. I just want to gain experience to your levels and enjoy something which I had never imagined taking part in. A recreation not a job. Cheers and happy jumpin! Thanks Freefallphil. -

Major apologies Unstable. No i've only started my training. The DZ I have been trained at is run by a small partnership of 3 blokes who all quit their full time professions to start the club. I am completely jealous of their life style its ACE. They took out a 700k mortgage for the plane and are livin the dream. Apologies for the onslaught, I need to lay off the red wine! Cheers for the advice. Thanks Freefallphil. -

Just read that back (jumped up freak)-maybe a bit harsh. Apologies! I agree. was just interested in how feasible it is to just jump and live life to the full. Wow I need to chill! Thanks Freefallphil. -

"give to the sport instead of taking from it" If there is one thing I dislike it is patronising comments. a.This post was out of interest not to have some jump up freak giving me morality lessons. b. surely professionals dedicating their lives and livelihood to the sport should be commended. Or are you saying that all full time jumpers are leaches? Thanks Freefallphil. -

Jump your ass off! My wife is already starting to comment that this is going to be an expensive passtime! She knows i'm really getting into something! Cant wait. How much are jumps in US? Here its about £30 plus £5 for packer. (static line). Thanks Freefallphil. -

Ha ha I've noticed that. Is it a given that you have to live in a static? Bit dangerous as one jumper crashed into one at our airfield last week! Thanks Freefallphil. -
skydiving for a living?? surely a dream!
buba07 replied to buba07's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi, I'm about as far off this dream as it is possible to be (4 jumps into life changing hobby). However, i've heard a number of jumpers talk about the fact that they gave up their professions and started jumping for a living? How? What sort of income can be generated? Surely that is just the best way in the world to pay the mortgage! Thanks Freefallphil. -
Cool, can't wait to be doing that stuff!! Here's my vid - not quite the action of yours! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLhIj1tc0Bg I prefer the high tempo stuff with skydiving vids - adds to the atmosphere. What a top sport! Thanks Freefallphil.

Hi there, I have been completely bitten by the skydiving bug and am 4 jumps into my RAPS course. At the same time I have revived my love for house tunes. This is completely related to jumping! What does everyone think the best tunes are for posting jumps on places like youtube? Thanks Freefallphil.

2nd dummy pull completed - getting more nervous?why??
buba07 replied to buba07's topic in Introductions and Greets
Hi everyone, So chuffed to find this site. Anyway, i've just done my 4th static line which was my second dummy pull. It went fine but i seemed to be more nervous than ever? Up to now i've just buzzed going up and jumping out, but having the pressure of wanting to do a good dummy made me start to think too much about the fact i was throwing myself out of a plane?! Is this normal? Thanks Freefallphil.
