  1. Haha, this is such an amusing thread! I’m very new to the sport, but $5-$20 a pool??… you’ll need to do LOTs and LOTs of those to support a skydiving habit
  2. http://www.pyramidmedia.com carries Sky Capers and Sky Dive (not cheap)
  3. I thought it was pretty dangerous, then i saw a BASE jumper pack his rig
  4. I think that general price is in about $200 range or so per jump for each of the levels… But if you’re like me and have to repeat a level or two, it easily adds up…
  5. Hi, I looked up “Fly to Survive” video, and USPA has it online for a free download. Some good info there. Thanks for ref! http://www.uspa.org/safety/fly_to_survive.htm
  6. Wow: I’m so glad I found this thread. I’m blind in my left eye… At 11 jumps my landings are terrible (LOL, I call them PL-Whack). My instructors have given me many pointers, and I think combined with some that I found here and a bit of practice I’ll be ok. By the very least, I feel inspired! Yay! When I get better and more experienced, I would love to meet some of you for the formation!! It is truly my dream. There’s nothing like touching another person when you’re up there in the sky, but right now I can’t help but to feel that in some ways I may compromise the safety because i lack the peripheral vision on my left.
  7. Guys: Thank you so much for the advise!! I’m due for PT in about a week, so I’ll be sure to talk to my ortho about it. Monkycndo, I “neglected” tell my doc it was due to skydiving (insurance worries ), so I’ll find a way to work it into the conversation at my next visit, but wanted to get the input from the pros… Thanks again!! Very useful info!
  8. Hello all: Couple of month ago I did my first tandem jump, and even before the parachute opened I knew I was hooked. Since then I’ve been doing AFF, and it has been challenging at best LOL (11 jumps and still on level 7). I’m not discouraged, if anything, it makes me fall in love with the sport more and more (despite going a little broke)… Unfortunately, my PLFs were more like PL-whacks (flare too high), and now my ankles are paying the price. My last landing left me with torn top/bottom ligaments in my right foot. While recovery is somewhat slow, I can’t wait to go back and finish AFF7. But to protect my ankles, I’d like to start wearing braces. Does anyone here use ankle/foot braces to avoid and protect from injuries as such, and if yes, which kind would you recommend? They’re not all created equal, so any input is much appreciated. Thank you
