Why would I want to buy an analog altimeter now and a digital one later? why not just buy the digital one now?
-
ok that makes sense, I knew I would want to wait before I buy a main and reserver but I did not know that the containers where sized, stiupid me thought you could put any main/reserve in any container lol
-
just because i dont know, why would you not recommend buying an aad/container?
-
I am new to skydiving and about to start working on my "A". I spoke with some people a little while back about this but I just thought a little more about it so I thought i would ask. I know I want to buy my own rig and I know that I should wait until I have some experience so i know what I like and what best fits my skill level. But the one thing I was thinking of was buying some stuff that(in my opinion) wouldnt really matter so much depending on my skill level. Things such as an AAD. container, altimited etc.. From everything I have read I dont believe these would really need to be replaced depending on my skill level. Would this be a good idea or am i completely wrong?

i am still planning on jumping during the winter but I hate the cold so I doubt that I will jump as much as i want plus with snowboarding season that is gonna take the majority of my time during the winter. im coming back down to orlando for christmas so i can get some jumping done down there

http://www.skyventureorlando.com/skyventurepromo.wmv thats the tunnel video for skyventure orlando. If you watch it you can see that they take a family, give them a little training, and then you can see a kid and their father in the tunnel at the same time so im pretty sure it wont be a problem for you

i am about to start aff and I live in the north and there is only 1 dz anywhere relatively close to me that stays open during the winter. my biggest fear is completing my a and then not being able to jump all winter and forgetting a lot when time comes next year and I can start jumping again. what would be the best way for me to deal witht his?

Quick A License Strategy?
Blassiter replied to leonanderson's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
im not exactly sure how it would work considering you already have 30 jumps(not sure how current you are) but Skydive Spaceland in texas has a "Skydiving Certification in a week" program where they get your A in a weeks time. might be something worth looking into -
ok now before I get burned at the stake here I just want to make something perfectly clear. I am not going to try this anytime soon, I am just asking a question. now with that being said i am very new to skydiving(about to start aff) and I have been pretty much obsessed with it the last year or so and I have been looking at as many videos/websites/forums that I can trying to gether as much information as i possibly can. HD and sitflying looks like something I would really enjoy once I get more experienced and I was wondering how difficult it is? I know i have a TON of work ahead of me and a TON of learning to do before I am anywhere near ready to try this but I was just curious

Getting back your main after a cutaway?
Blassiter replied to Blassiter's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
an interesting thought just popped into my head, if you had to perform a cutaway as a student and the main was lost/damages, would you be responsible for the cost of the main, i.e. having to replace it? -
one other thing I was wondering is lets say the tunnels helps me out a lot and when i start my aff I end up doing really well(im very optimistic I know). Would I be able to, lets say bypass some of my aff levels? like would i be able to tell the jumpmasters "hey I think i can do this this and this" and have them observe me on one jump for multiple aff levels? or would I still have to do those jumps seperately?
-
well to be honest I dont really know. I have been talking with a girl online down here in orlando that skydives and goes there regularly and we talked about going friday and she said she was gonna call and reserve a time for us so I dont really know how much time she is gonna book
-
well heres the thing, I wont have the money to do all my aff right now and I want to pay for it in one shot and dot it at one dz. This is gonna happen in october when i go to va. if i was gonna be down here in orlando I would use the money to start my first or second aff jump and just wait till october to do the rest, but that isnt the case. So i was gonna go down to the tunnel for a day on friday(im leaving to go to ct on saturday). I really just wanted to go to get a little bit of a feel for how difficult it is gonna be before i start my aff and also have some fun
-
I am going to be starting my AFF training in about a month in virginia and right now im home visiting family in orlando. I found out they have a tunnel here and i am going my first time this friday. I was wondering how different it is from actual freefall? and if it would be a good idea for me to go down to the tunnel first as opposed to actually getting some time in the air?

Getting back your main after a cutaway?
Blassiter replied to Blassiter's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
well what I really meant was lets say you had a bad opening, lines got tangled and you didnt think you could recover. While the main itself may not actually be "damaged" it would still require a cutaway(in my opinion anyway. I really have no basis for this since I have no experience. its just what common sense would tell me). So in an instance like that the main wouldnt really be damaged and i was wondering the probability of it being damaged after the cutaway. granted I know a that there are a lot of contributing factors to what could damage it after cutaway, such as the surrounding area etc. Im just asking if anyone knows from personal experience. -
Getting back your main after a cutaway?
Blassiter replied to Blassiter's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
ok that makes sense. What do you think the likelyhood of the main being damaged in a cutaway is? -
Getting back your main after a cutaway?
Blassiter replied to Blassiter's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
ok before you all bash me I have searched the site and I couldnt find any information on this. I know I have seen and heard of people performing cutaways either out of necessity or just to do it. When this happens how would one go about retrieving their main? I mean depending on the altitude that it is done at i would assume that your main could go pretty much anywhere at that point -
do any of you happen to know of any free online study material like that site?

suffolk uses AFF im pretty sure, ive never heard of isp before, how different is it from aff?
-
ok sounds awesome, I was looking at the website but I couldnt really find any information on pricing for the jumps I need to get my a. I am going to be starting my aff stuff at skydive suffolk(ill have the money when I get down there and I really dont want to wait another month until i get back to ct) but if i cant finish there i was gonna try to finish at CPI. Do you happen to know any of the info for their pricing?
-
congrats! I cant wait to get mine, unfortunately I have to wait until the end of october before I even start :(
-
i do have a question, one of the things I noticed from their website is to become a "Member", which I plan on doing and they will prob become my home DZ since they are open year round, is to have 1 sport jump. What exactly is a sport jump?
-
they are open all year? that is awesome and just made my day! I am going to be getting my "A" sometime in october/november down in va(im gonna be there for a month for work) and I was really worried about not being able to jump after that until next year. thanks so much for the info I didnt even know that they were around. The only one I knew of was the DZ up in danielson
-
I am new to the sport and about to start work towards my "A" and I live in new england(connecticut actually). I was wondering if there is anyone up near that area that skydives? and what do you guys do during the winter? Every DZ I looked up is closed after october and its gonna suck to have to wait till may to start again especially since Im just now getting started
