As Cobaltdan said one main thing to watch for when not using a normal skydiving helmet is points where your lines could snag (there was a notice at my DZ saying that some cycling helments were not permitted for this reason) cover them with tape or try to remove them if possible. I believe that in the UK you need 200 jumps to jump camera but you may have other rules where you are so it'll be worth checking these out. As for other training (having just got my FS1) after getting in a few fun jumps after your consols I would recommend starting your training as soon as you can to ensure that you don't pick up any bad habits, I know that I picked some up and it was a lot hard to "unlearn" them. IMHO I've found that eye contact with your clone does incredible things to a formation. Personnally I almost imagine that I'd just doing a 2 way with my close and just happen to be taking sombody elses grips. Doing this I managed to get 12 points on my 8th 4 way (plus jumping with some really good guys helped), if I start spending time looking for grips it all tends to go to rat crap. I learnt to pack at my DZ pretty much from the start. The weather was bad on my 2nd trip there so I was told "right your going to learn to pack", after that day I'd jumped once and packed (under full supervision) twice. After that I had to pack every canopy I jumped. A good thing I was taught was that a skydive isn't over until you've packed, now don't expect to find packers at every DZ, but if I do it's a bonus. This is similar to the sliders on the canopies (PD190) that I was jumping as a student (not all that long ago). I understand that when the slider was taken up the lines (while flat packing) you would double stow the brake lines in the bungee to slow the opening. You should be able to check this with a riger. I will admit that I never used this as I was happy with the openings I had without doing it Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

Generally boxers, but tight ones are good to keep everything in place and stop things getting caught under leg straps (I now understand the term "front and centre"!!!!!). Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

I managed to get through AFF with no retakes and in 3 days, that also included 10 mins in the tunnel. Managed to get my consols done in the next 3 days too. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

I spent a while working with AC/ventilation systems and some of the ducts were so big you could drive a car through them, when I was tired I would crawl inside some and have a quick sleep!! Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
