  1. Think it's more of a case that the laws, society and culture are different, people are pretty much the same. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  2. Also have to remember this was only a survey and not based on official reports of crime stats, sure that if a survey was conducted in the right areas of America we could show that most of them are all gun obsessed idiots... Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  3. So they eyballed two groups and attacked the wrong one, still a good job it wasn't civillians.... Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  4. So your saying that they eyeballed one group but attacked another, almost makes it worse. Good job it wasn't civillian vehicles they hit.. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  5. I don't think it's just the sharing of information re these fratricide incidents that galls some brits. There have been numerous incidents where information and technology has been passed without reciprication (ones of interest to me was that of the cavity magnatron and the gas turbine). Additionally the UK have only just finished paying off the US for the lease lend agreement started during WW2 which was used to obtain arms from the US prior to Pearl Harbour (something that I believe that a lot of Americans like to forget, yes to an extent we had to pay America to join WW2). 6. www.thesun.co.uk/artic...31,00.html As you'll see it was approx 5 mins between the orange panel being first noted and the attack commencing: 1st time orange panels noted: 2nd time: 3rd time: 1339.09 POPOV36: They’ve got something orange on top of them. 1340.13 POPOV36: OK, well they got orange rockets on them. 1340.17 POPOV35: Orange rockets? 1340.17 POPOV36: Yeah, I think so. 1340.18 POPOV35: Let me look. 1341.24 POPOV36: OK, do you see the orange things on top of them? 1341.37 POPOV36: POPOV 36 is rolling in. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  7. If you read the transcripts of the voice recorder it's about 5 mins between the orange panels first being identified and the attack commencing: Looks like someone in command screwed up there... Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  8. Saw a newspaper report that showed that in the gulf war 2 (or whatever the hell it's called these days) up to 2003, 20% of all combat deaths of UK troops were caused by friendly fire. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

  10. If your in London and can get up to Weston (www.rafspa.com they have a great kit store with everything down to a 150 in stock. I believe that you'll have to get the ok from an instructor before you can downsize, but you shouldn't have any problems working your way down before you take the plunge and buy something that you'll only keep for a short time. 11. Think it's pretty ironic that the US military won't release this video considering the number of video's that have been released showing Spectre gunships and the like doing their stuff. Heard part of the vocals and you could clearly hear the pilot talking about the targets having orange panels (the coalition troops anti friendly fire symbol!!), but command stated that there were no coalition troops in the area and that the attack should go ahead. This is also the video that the US military denied even existed. Will also mention that the pilots did show remorse over the attack which made them feel sick and that they would probably go to jail. 12. As I said, that is my understanding (I could be totally wrong obviously) but will check it out with a criminal solicitor. Think this is just working on the premis that prevention is better than cure. If this is the case and you are able to show that you have a valid reason for such item there's no problem. Can't say that I've ever heard (in the press) of any recent complaints relating to this so maybe it's a non issue. In the case of what was posted by JohnRich, offences had already been committed, the obvious answer is, don't break the law and you won't have a problem Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  13. My understanding is that if your tooled up (examples here is of an old time burglar) with item such as a crowbar, black balaclava, lag bag with SWAG written on it, etc. those items would be considered as items to facilitate a crime then yes there is a good chance that they would be confiscated (will check that with the other half as she's a solicitor working in the area of crime). The subject of the first post (and therefore the subject of this thread) is that the individual has already committed a crime, and in such a case items that have facilitated that crime will be confiscated. In the UK we also have the proceeds of crime act which allows items that were obtained as proceeds of crime (cars, houses etc.) to be confiscated, but that’s not on the whim of a regular PC and would have to pass through the formal judicial system. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  14. instead you worry about the police capriciously taking it on a fucking whim.*** Posessions are note taken "on a fucking whim" as you say, they are only confiscated when a crime has been committed (following due process). Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  15. ***"The Court, however, does not agree that defendants owed a specific legal duty to plaintiffs with respect to the allegations made in the amended complaint for the reason that the District of Columbia appears to follow the well-established rule that official police personnel and the government employing them are not generally liable to victims of criminal acts for failure to provide adequate police protection." In other words, the police aren't REQUIRED to save you - only to investigate the crime.*** Would be interesting to see how this would apply in UK law and what the remit of our police, I'm sure mr2mk1g will have some accurate information on this. Car bombs

I just get really pissed off with this "war against terror" that has started since you guys got hit on 9/11. Before that some (and I will admit that it was a few) bank rolled the IRA to the tune of approx. £20m a year and glorified them. Some times it just smacks of the worst hypocrisy that before 9/11 terrorism (by some) was seen as good, post 9/11 we all have to support America in their fight against terrorism, where was the fight against terrorism before that.... Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

    Car bombs

Not heard that one, and personnally I've never joked about IRA terrorism, perhaps you know more about me that I do. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  18. And my point was that when a gun was used 16 people died (including children) and when a gun wasn't used nobody died. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  19. I think that in the UK we showed what the number was. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  20. So many people were quoting stats that justified what they were saying so I thought i'd join in. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  21. Oh and Friedrich Leibacher killed 14 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friedrich_Leibacher (don't like posting link to Wiki but this is accurate from what I can remember). Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  22. At the St Lukes school attack a schizophrenic (Irving Campbell) went of the rampage with a machete. Number of dead, 0. Same year (1996) Thomas Hamilton when into the Dunblane school with a gun. Number of dead, 16. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  23. Sorry, yes your right Phil. Meant to say " the wrong side" Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  24. It's true that Swiss soldiers are required to keep their assault rifles at home. How big is the Swiss Army? 400,000. There are about 3 million Swiss households (source). 400,000/3,000,000= 0.133. Therefore, there is a military assault rifle in about 13% of Swiss homes. Switzerland also has rather strict gun control laws. In Switzerland a permit is required in order to purchase a weapon (The permit shows that you are at least 18 and don't have a criminal record). A permit is also required to carrry a weapon. Such a permit is mostly issued to people who work in security-type occupations. To obtain this permit, you have to demonstrate that you need to carry a weapon and that you know how to handle a gun safely and have knowledge of the law regarding firearms use. Soldiers in the Swiss Army are required to store their military weapons at home under lock and key and to undergo regular training. Strict gun laws in Switzerland minimize the dangers of gun ownership. Found a good site with lots of infor on this. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  25. I asked that question because I wanted to know how many lives were "worth it" Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
