It seams that with the amount of people going out to Perris the place will be full of brits!! I'd be willing to do March if others are (April, May and June) are al filling up. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

Am in Perris for the start of April and will be team training end April and mid May but Nethers sounds good if it fits in. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

The police have made a statement saying that they do not believe that Stephens death was a suicide. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/humber/3444805.stm Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

You probably get those all the time, when your drunk you just don't notice them (or can't focus on them and throw them on the floor)! Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

Just had fish and chips, was very nice..... Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

Same as... With the one addition that I'll make a note of the position of the sun and the wind direction before getting on the plane, such that If I do land off and there are no other indicators I'll know the wind direction from the position of the sun (or at least have an approximation of it). Cheers for the info guys. I've done the block a couple of times and have worked it exactly as you say but was just wondering if there was any value in "popping over the top" a little to cut off the corner, but it's probably more effort than it's worth. One of the problems I envisiged (sp) was that the donut would be doing even less of the 360 (possibly as little as 200) than they do currently and was wondering how judges would take this. I was wondering if you could do exactly that, may not be totally practical but was just thinking out of the box. Cheers Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

If you want some drinking fun you could try a little game I know called "The Circle Line". Basically you travel round the circle line stopping at every station and having a pint in the nearest pub to the station. Should take you all day considering there are about 35 of them!!! BTW I have not tried this myself!! Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

Ok here's a question for the 4-way addicts. On block 2 (Sidebody Donut - Side Flake Donut) it's normal for point to move backwards slightly so that the donut can cheat the 360. How far do you think you could get away with cheating this move or would this just be judge’s discretion? Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

From what I can see all they really changed is the front page. The rest of the site is pretty much the same as it was before, and the coach of the month thing didn't last very long. Is pretty bad that the BCPA site is better than the BPA's site, wish I could be at the AGM to voice my commets. Another funny thing about the site is the "Sponsor British Parachuting!" link! The problem was that I mentioned this but he didn't even acknoledge that I had suggested this! As a barrister I would have expected much more (it lost him my vote). Plus the BPA website (while an improvement on the old one) still isn't very good. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

For the full picture on this, I emailed the BPA with reference to the bad reporting with reference to a fatality this year, and suggested thet they should have centralised press releases meaning that they (the BPA) can control what the press gets. The answer I got from Chris Allan was that it wouldn't be good to ask for a correction from the particular paper as this wouldn't look good. His totally missed the point that my suggestion was looking to the future!! Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

Totally agree. The BPA council seams to be more like a drop zone owners association!! So far I’ve contacted them on a couple of issues: The first about comments one of the roadshows was only acknowledged and answered after I had resent my comments and about 4 months. The other about bad press to which I received the most short sighted answer I’ve ever seen. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

As I understand it the council are all unpaid. But they (or most of them) are paid by the dropzones/skydiving companies that they appear to be running. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

Isn't it time for a serious talk about exit timing??
Nick replied to DBCOOPER's topic in Safety and Training
In addition to the tracking situation something you have to watch out for when having solo's exiting after you is when the solo watches your formation in freefall. I've had this a number of times (and have always spoekn to them (nicely) about it afterward). What happens in the solo watches your formation and unintentionally moves towards and over the formation! Now if there is a solo following me I'll always mention this and (if needed) say that if they really do want to watch they should turn 90deg to jump run and look sideways and still track. I used to get this problem quite a bit, even when flying 4 way (must be all the pies I eat and guiness I drink!) however I found that I had no problems jumping with all sorts of people in Eloy, all I can put this down to is the time I spent in the tunnel and learning to fly my body better. Also I totally agree with the concept of making yourself long (arms out from and legs out back) rather than the old hugging the beach ball concept for slow fall, it's much more efficient. Anyone travel with rig during "orange" threat level??
Nick replied to ccowden's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Travelled to Eloy with mine on the 25th and the 1st, both times checked in a semi hard case with no problems at all. Just listened out in case they called me. I did get searched at the gate without any problems (other than the hand held metal detector being set off by staples in my passport!). On the 1st I watched a friends rig go through the x-ray machine at PHX without a problem, if fact the operator wasn't even looking at the screen!! If your ever camping and somebody has an air bed with them, fill it with that expanding foam. Did that to one guy when it was in his tent, he had to saw the air bed in half to get it out (god knows why he has a saw with him) while we sat around drinking beer and pissing ourselves laughing. Wind tunnels - need your opinions
Nick replied to skyejumper's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Have done 90 mins tunnel time in total (10 mins half way through AFF and 80 mins recently). 1) Location was Orlando (bit of a trek from the UK but it was a camp) 2) Very useful indeed, able to crompress many jumps into a short space of time allowing you to brief and debrief while things are fresh in your mind. 3) Both, training followed by a few games at the end of each session for relaxation at the end of the day and to teach flying automatically). 4) No and no plans to build one however there are plans to build one locally to me in the UK. 5) Very cost effective (even taking travel into account). Would recommend you read Thomas Hughe's interview on the tunnel camp website http://www.tunnelcamp.com/content.asp?id={9E2DC669-F1BF-42E5-9515-027A81594B0E}&cursection=22.04 it might give you a bit more info. Nice work. Did any of the info on here help? Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

Hawe jumped it a few times. Is v quick to altitude, but the step is very low, the door can get in the way if your rear float and can be a bit cramped if your in the back on the bench. Otherwise I like it. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

I have the same as firediver but a couple of point to note: 1: Have them available for each hand (one left one right), just in case one hand is incapacitated. 2: If on the top half of your rig mount it so you pull it down to remove it. If it's on the bottom half of your rig/jumpsuit mount it so you pull up to remove it. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

My mother didn't say this but it is a good one: If your not in bed by 9:00pm then go home!!! Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

Very true however as I understand things the guns that sky marshals carry are loaded with hollow bullets to reduce the risk to the airframe and equipment (not sure how much better they are). The thing that the UK pilots (through the Airline Pilots Association) have been saying is that they will not fly if there is any risk (ok a blanket statement) therefore negating the need for sky marshals. from the BBC website http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3371247.stm The other open question that I would ask is when was the last flight to or from the UK hijacked and therefore what is the risk. Surely there was the potential for sky marshalls to have been on (or were they actually on) the planes involved in the Sept 11th attacks, it still didn't stop the attacks.
