  1. I'm quickly coming to a time in my career that I'm going to have to leave 'The Center of The Universe' (Fort Bragg, NC) One of the factors that's going into my choice of my next duty station is near by dz's. Probably the number 1 priority in my mind is proximity, but taking into account aircraft, cost, weather etc, where are some good and bad choices? Right now I have a PAC and Otter at Raeford for $20 to 13.5 (I buy in bulk) about 5 minutes from my house....so that's what I'm used to. I'm an Artillery officer, so ideally there should be either a BCT or Fires Brigade wherever I go.
  2. I would tend to agree. I made the same argument to my wife when she wanted to save the planet by getting a hybrid. I lost. we got a civic. It's actually not a bad little car, I found myself driving it more than my jeep when my wife was out of the country for a few months. I do feel pretty smug when I fill it up once every 3 weeks for 25 bucks, but I don't think it will be worth it in the long run. Keep in mind, that the "EPA estimated MPG's" are always about 15% better than what a normal driver will get. 15% of the 50mpg advertised for a hybrid is a much bigger difference than 15% of the 14mpg's that a truck gets. So don't be dissapointed when you actually only get about 42 or so. I think they (the EPA) recently changed the way they mesure MPG's, but I'm not sure....

This will help keep you from getting screwed. When I bought mine used it seemed like about everybody was asking a fair price (I would assume because there is no question what it is worth). if only it were this simple for a canopy... http://www.cypresusa.com/usedcypres.asp
  4. if a cypres was manufactured 8/95, when EXACTLY does it expire? is August the first month of the 3 month grace period or September? can I jump it this weekend? I just got a used rig, it needs a re-pack, but the cypres did have it's 8 year service and the batteries are a year old. paying to get the reserve re-packed when my new cypres comes in next week is still cheaper than renting gear this weekend.
